I think Roberta's is wack, gimme that real NY slice.

I went Solo pizza in the EV, they have a pretty good classic NY slice and they have fucking Zeppoles. It's been ages since I seen a pizzara with those.

Is anyone out?

I'm volunteering at the Athena Film Festival until 11pm. I'll be down here all weekend long. It's a bit surreal being in these super old and modern buildings surrounded by Columbia students. I saw Amy Goodman, the host of Democracy Now! She's much shorter in person but it was crazy since I saw her on TV last night.

I got a free beer book from Brokelyn.com for volunteering for Best of Brooklyn. It entitles me to a free beer from 30 different bars scattered across Brooklyn. It expires in December but I'm thinking that if there's a GAF meetup in Brooklyn in the future, I'll go to town using them up or next time I end up in Brooklyn for a date or otherwise.

Oh damn you know the guy? I literally just read that an hour ago... will go there eventually...big soup dumpling fan. And ding tai fun.

I've known him going on 14 years now? I live in Buffalo, he lives in NY but we see each other like 4 or 5 times a year.

i wonder if it's better than joe shanghai, looks promising

His fiance has been bragging to me A LOT in text about how good everything is so it better be. I'm going February 24-26.

Of course his fianceé is going to be biased and say that it's good. What else is new? If it's reasonably priced, then it's something I'll go check out in the future. Regardless of the fact, I'll throw it into the OP. You're lucky that you know him and can eat for free or at least at a discounted price. Although one my friends' uncle owns a Vietnamese restaurant somewhere on 62nd and York where his mom works at so one day I'll tell my friend to hook me up and make the trek.

I saw a bunch of trailers in my neighborhood between 175th and 177th and Broadway. Blue Bloods is being shot. It looks like a chase scene because the trailers said stunt driver A and B. They shoot up here all the time. Amusingly, some of the trailer rooms are named after I Love Lucy.

Yeah, that's a big production crew in NY. The name completely escapes me. I see those I love Lucy named trailers all over CPS year round and occasionally Riverside for period shoots.

Ha, I'll pay full price willingly.

Reminds me of an idea I had... though pitched to friends first

A 5-borough,multi-travel mode bar crawl

Starting in Staten Island and ending in Brooklyn (since most of my friends live in this borough)

It's an ambitious undertaking but it's doable depending on how many bars per borough. There's also a matter of which neighborhoods that are close to the nearest train.

I think only one in Staten Island and the Bronx, and it'd work. Otherwise it'd take way too long. Gotta manage the time between travel and drinking, don't want one to overtake the other. Like, hit a bar everytime you change modes of transport or subway line.

Also depends on when you start... I mean start around 1pm or so... could do it no problem.

And yeah probably a drink and a shot in each borough

Start at Staten Island, (boat)manhattan (metro north) bronx (taxi via t-neck bridge) queens, astoria (walk or bus)brooklyn, williamsburg.
it feels like it would only take four hours if speed runned.

i'm going to be in New York in a few months and want to eat at a Michelin Star place for the first time while i'm there so it's getting to be time to start thinking reservation soon

i've been leaning towards Eleven Madison Park but still not quite 100% sure whether that's the one I want to go to,thoughts?

i mean, that's probably tops, but it's priced accordingly as well

im trying le bernardin next week, looking forward to that!

Boy is it nice outside! We are going to have a really nice stretch of good temps this week. One of these days I'm going to participate in a NYC-GAF meetup but there is too much going on in my life at the moment. Looks like a nice way to make some friends.

Has GAF done one of the Barcades before? I feel like that would attract a lot of people but maybe I'm wrong.
We've been to every Barcade in the city a few times and it's had a decent turn out, not a large one so it makes no difference. It's cool once in a while but it gets tiring if one goes all the time. It gets old fast but if you're lucky, you can meet a cool girl there.

Yeah think we've done Barcade enough... also ironically most of them aren't great for groups since hard to hear and navigate through.

I liked the Board Game bar we went to

And of course the one outside in Williamsburg, but not the summer.

All things considered, I'm glad everyone got home safe (genuinely).

When everything went down I was watching like:

What happened?

Not going to call out specific people but someone was black out drunk and somehow ended up breaking into some dude's car and passing out inside. When they saw him they were filming the whole thing and fortunately thought it was hilarious, but could have easily called the cops and/or beat his ass.
