I didn't get into any panels. Oh well, seems more of a hassle based on the stories being told and my own experience.

I missed Greg Rucka signing. I'm so pissed off.

I normally joke about how San Diego Comiccon's staff are morons in comparison to New York's...but this year New York's is horrible. That Netflix panel mishap was beyond stupid and even other small things have been bad.

You used to be able to leave Mainstage to go to the bathroom then come back through the front entrance. Now they have you walk all the way, through the Queue Hall to get back in. And then the people at the door just assume you're new and hand you any swag they're giving out. As result of my small bladder I have a bunch of Lego Avengers t-shirts.

Any advice for a first timer today?

If you want to do any mainstage panels head to the Queue Hall first thing for a wristband.

Sorta glad to hear I wasn't the only one who had problems with crew. Was making my way to Artist Alley on Friday morning and two of them wanted me to go to the Queue Hall first even though I just went through the pro, press, vip line.

Since we're all griping. Maybe it's just me but there were way more strollers around. I wouldn't mind it if it were just Sunday, but just seems like there were more families throughout the weekend.

And maybe that's just a trend in general, more people visiting who don't normally attend. I've overheard a few moms who were completely oblivious to what certain people were dressed as.

Edit: Looks like there's a problem with the new AA exit. People exiting in the morning are being forced to wait in line to get back into the Javits.

Yesterday the crew sent me and others onto the firefly line instead of Netflix. I got the wristband and noticed the mistake, getting into the right line (which got nothing). Gave the wristband to someone complaining she wouldn't be able to get Firefly and I didn't even get a thank you. Instead I got some spaz attack lol "what huh WHAT ok mhhmmm "

Where are the Lego avengers shirts?
It was at the Lego avengers panel

I also saw a ton of strollers. Lots of rolling bags too. I thought those things werent allowed. They take up the space of almost 3 people.

Thats so screwed up about the new AA exit.

LOL!

Is there a specific entrance they let people into so they could line up for the panels before 10? Ended up stuck in the big mob outside the building which they didn't let in until 10, barely got into the X-files panel, Netflix was capped at that point.

Got this nice Fury Road print by Matt Ferguson at the Bottleneck Galleries booth.

Holy shit! Hell of a weekend! Bummed out that I didn't make my run through Artist Alley while it was operating regularly this year to say hi to a bunch of artist friends but I made out with loads of swag and bought some exclusives for the first time ever. Major wallet buster though so fuck impulsive purchases.

Downside is I left my Tokyo Pop C3PO figure at a bag check and forgot to get it which means I have a loose end to take care of. Gotta call Javits Command Center tomorrow and stay on top of it or it's $80 plus tax down the drain. Talk about a goose chase.

I honestly don't know if I'll be back as Crew next year but considering going as an exhibitor depending on where I am next year. However, I mentioned that a lot of friends in Crew are like family to me and I mean it so it might pull me back in. In some way or another either way, I'll be definitely be coming back to NYCC in some capacity next year. I'm nowhere near done retiring from working/attending cons. Career is a still a work in progess.

I wouldn't mind doing a post-NYCC GAF meet up for some time next weekend despite my wallet taking a massive beating or something for next month. Next gigs up for me: volunteering NY Tech Week this Thursday all day and volunteering NY Beer Festival Halloween weekend. It's always a pleasure to make the yearly NYCC thread.

First of all, I look forward to seeing you in your own booth. I love artists, that's why I spent more time in the artist alley this year. I made it my mission cause all the previous years, I go towards the end where I'm exhausted and ready to collapse. This year I went with full energy to enjoy it. Hell, my friend's been going 5 years and he didn't even know about this place until I brought him today. I saw Baroness but she had a few people at her booth, so I didn't interrupt. Who was that other girl sitting with her in the booth though? She had her own style of art, but shared a booth with her.

Oh Jipan, how did the speed dating thing go? Was it a sausage-fest, or were there actually girls participating in it?

A man can dream eh? Well dreams can and will turn into a reality if I work on my stuff and build/find an audience.

I didn't do it man. I scrapped the idea and went all out making daily swag runs and lining up for some exclusives. Gonna go back to the wonderful world of online dating.™ This bachelor stays single a for while. I made the mistake of scheduling a date on the last day of NYCC last year that I never met the girl so this year, I learned from it and made it about enjoying the con itself sans interruptions.

Edit: Actually I heard from a co-worker that the speed dating was 4 girls to several guys so it was sausage fest indeed. He said he was bored in there since they only needed one Crew in there to oversee it.

Wished I took more, but I feel like there was drastic drop in cosplay than previous Sundays.

I'd be up for something. Next year we should do a pre-show meet-up. There seemed to be a lot of questions from first timers. Would be a great way to catch people up on the ins-and-outs beforehand.

This con had a lot of problems, but of the 7 that I've been to was probably my absolute favorite NYCC

I am still a little kid after that JL Reunion panel. I meant Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Jerry Lawler by accident. Took one too many LexCorp chargers

Met some great people. Some cool after parties.

Haha did anyone do it this year? It was hard for them to get women when it was free, I can't imagine they're lining up when it's being charged for $20.

Wow, you have to pay? I'm surprised any girls showed up.

Ya, I didn't want to sign up before knowing the Panel schedule and by the time it went up the speed dating sessions were full...but only for men. lol I can't imagine they filled up for women.

Seems like going through a new process where you need to create an account/profile BEFORE tickets go on sale to be eligible to buy tickets

http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Tickets/NYCC-Ticket-Process-and-Show-News/

What does Fan Verification mean? It means we are requiring anyone interested in attending NYCC to fill out a profile between May 20 and June 13. We recognize that this is an extra step before buying your Tickets and requires more commitment from you, but we also know that as true Fans of the Show, you won’t mind making it tough for the supervillains out there. It means you guys have to do a bit more work to get your Ticket, but it will help make sure NYCC Tickets get into the hands of Fans. We truly thank you for your maximum effort (as our favorite merc with the mouth would say).

No more VIP tickets either.

I'll probably just skip main hall panels this year then. Artist Alley is always my main focus anyway.

This new verification thing sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. What if the verification servers go down? What if a friend bails out at the last minute, does that mean you're just stuck with a ticket you can't give to anyone else?

This fan verification thing seems dumb. I can't believe they thought this was a good idea.

Yes, exactly. Shit comes up and sometimes people can't make it. That means that the tickets are now useless? Meh. I understand their intent, but I don't think this is the right way to handle it. And it doesn't seem like it'll totally prevent reselling because (i) not everyone who registers will get tickets and (ii) not everyone knows about it, so you can sell it on ebay and then the buyer would be surprised when he is turned away at the door.

I don't understand this fan nonsense. On day one if I want to buy 2 passes. Me and a friend need to sign up to be fans correct? and use the seperate links to buy the tickets. This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

If I don't get tickets after paying 2k for flights and accom lol

Got the tweet just a while ago and I'm confused. How is this going to stop Scalper's if they can still sell the ticket after the fact?

I'd assume this fan stuff is gonna be on the ticket so it would have to match an id.

And they're not even selling passes at retailers and there's no Special Edition this year apparently. AND they're doing the sell everything on day one online.

Oh LORD.

You both have to sign up as fans, but I think you can buy his ticket for him. I think he just needs to register to be eligible to go. I think. Maybe.

Yeah, I can't believe that they're selling all of the tickets at the same time again after the complete shit show that was last year

Part of me wonders if I should even bother with tickets this year. I enjoy NYCC but this sounds like such a fucking hassle.

It seems like you both need to sign up but one of you can buy the tickets. It'll just have the person who bought them enter an email address that lines up to another "Fan Verified" account.

You must include the email address used in Fan Verification to assign each individual Ticket. Each person must be Fan Verified and there is a limit of one Ticket per person per day. If your friend or family member did not fill out a Fan Verification profile, you will not be able to purchase their Ticket.

For example, if Pierce is buying 3-Day Tickets for himself and Sophia, plus a Friday and Saturday Ticket for Drake, he must add the email that Sophia and Drake used when they filled out their Fan Verification profile and assign himself and Sophia to the 3-Day Tickets and Drake to the Friday and Saturday Tickets.

Thank you, this makes much more sense. I don't trust my m8 to do it so I will have to do it all lol.

But it says one ticket per person per day? am I confusing this.

And I just discovered they completely canceled Special Edition NYC this year

Fuck me, that show was so much fun and so much less chaotic than NYCC

Hopefully they can find a slightly better venue next year...or at least separate the panel rooms so people don't have to talk over the people in the room next door.

What other venue could they use? The Javits is the only game in town. Everyone fucking hates it but there's no other place in NYC that could house it as far as I know.

The NYCC Twitter told me one person can get passes for two as long as the two people have the fan profiles. My friend and his wife want to go so I figured I'd ask.

You have 14 days to assign the ticket to them. After that, you can't. So, in theory, all ppl going to the show should be known and set 14 days after the tickets go on sale. Pretty unheard of that tickets are locked in like that so early.

I was talking Special Edition..sorry missed the quote button. They used Pier 94 last year. I really hope it comes back next year.

I think this is a step in the right direction.

Yes a lot of people won't know about this, but also many scalpers won't know about it and when they try to buy 4365432 tickets, they'll be greeted with a middle finger error since they don't have anyone to assign those tickets to.

Maybe it's for the better that an account system is implemented ala Ticket Master. However, I'm still skeptical about it working out since word of mouth spreads like wild fire; my friend's coworkers were talking to him about it. So my understanding is that if you buy a ticket for friend A, friend A has to have an account? Interesting.

If anything, since VIP passes have been nixed I think the value of 3 Day passes is going to skyrocket in the secondary market. I don't see how this is going to circumvent the secondary market since there's going to a massive server overload either way.

Also, for those of you bummed out about Special Edition NYC not returning this year, it was reported that ReedPop is focusing their time/resources on NYCC this year so it's on a temporary hiatus. I will miss it this year too since I care about the Artist Alley stuff more than anything else in addition to having the perk to buy passes before the Midtown Comics rush.
