I don't understand this focus on the electoral college as being the issue. Both sides knew the rules of the game, Hillary should've reinforced that blue wall.
Exactly everyone knew the rules going in.

It's not about rectifying the vote, trump won legitimately, it's to ensure it never happens again.Exactly everyone knew the rules going in.
Picture the crazy results of a popularity contest with the popular vote, that's how you get Kim Kardashian as the POTUS
That what never happens again, the electoral college works as intended or the Democrats lose? It's not about rectifying the vote, trump won legitimately, it's to ensure it never happens again.
Frankly that someone like trump becomes president or bush gets a 2nd term. That what never happens again, the electoral college works as intended or the Democrats lose?
People should just stop using Twitter, period. It's a terrible piece of shit media platform that offers almost nothing of value and actively discourages any nuance in discussion (if you can even call what goes on there discussion). Most people don't even use it, just journalists and an annoying as shit vocal minority/trolls. It's a cancer on our public discourse.I was reading this thread while at work (while it was still unfolding). And holy shit. If we're serious about this referendum on fake news, I think random twitter garbage should fall into that category.

More realistic that the EC so grossly misrepresents the popular vote.
Didn't gore get 500k more votes?Um what? Bush won the popular vote in 2004. He would have gotten the 2nd term..
Didn't gore get 500k more votes?
This is how I feel
Being the better person doesn't always win. And sometimes you need to win
One on hand, direct democracy is what led to Brexit happening in the UK.
On the other hand, the EC failed its one purpose, to stop a potential tyrant from taking power.
Ugh. Talk about a rock and a hard place.
Maintaining your integrity *IS* winning.
Oh nvm. Bush should never even got elected then.Heh, Gore ran in 2000.
Hillary knew the rules better than Trump and completely ignored important states. There is nothing more to it. She failed the people.
EC is fine, imo.
Maintaining your integrity *IS* winning.

We need a charismatic asshole to run next time
Like Bill Maher said, we should put up Anthony Weiner

What would you do? Have a coup?So It doesn't matter that people lose their rights, oligarchs rule in ther own benefit or the Earth keeps getting hotter as long as you keep the moral high ground, got it!
What would you do? Have a coup?
The same dude who's been plagued by scandals for years? The same dude who tried to fuck a 16 year old when he was married? Yeah I'm sure that'll go over just great.
Have a peaceful transition of government while bitching with impotent rage? Like they've always done when.what would the republicans do if the roles were switched?
Reps have never been in this position.Have a peaceful transition of government while bitching with impotent rage? Like they've always done when.

We don't know what they'd do, because it's never affected that party.Have a peaceful transition of government while bitching with impotent rage? Like they've always done when.
Edit: we don't know what the reps would exactly do in this situation. Since when do to wrongs make a right?
We don't know what they'd do, because it's never affected that party.
Dems have won the popular vote in the last four of five elections, and won the presidency twice in the last five elections.
If a Rep gets the pop vote, they get the EC. Doesn't seem to work that way for Dems.
We can't know what they'd do under the same situation... but given what they've done when losing both? It'd be a crazy person clusterfuck.
Well, considering we have a President that's accused of sexual assault, fraud, and colluding with a foreign entity...unfortunately the state of politics are I can't completely write it off, lol

I think Democratic voters are better than that. I don't want to be proven wrong.
Bill Clinton, if he were run today instead of 24 years ago, would have been completely tanked by the sexual allegations.

It's actually better than that. Every single time it's been against the Democrats. Every! It's kind of luck, really, that Dems are the ones to have gotten screwed both times.
This has got to be a joke.

I suggest watching White House press conferences this week, & Trump's Twitter response. Smooth transition isn't happening.

It seems that this entire week has been leading up to this. CIA leaks, WH getting more vocal, Trump not acknowledging Russian interference.

From what I am hearing, @POTUS has determined that orderly transition cannot be accomplished and is no longer priority due to Trump/Russia.
Could be something here.
Stop using Twitter as a news source.Did I miss something or was this just a load of BS
it's a joke, but the sad part is that if the last election is anything to go by, no one would really care about the sex stuff. no one cares.
but we need an ahole who will speak plainly and say fuck you to anyone who deserves it
As a resident of NC worried about what the GOP is doing to our election system on their way out, I have to say I admire Obama even more for trying to make it a smooth transition. I don't want it to be smooth. I want Obama to make it impossible for Trump to do anything. I want him to go so far as to loosen the chair legs in the oval office so Trump literally falls on his ass on his first day.
But we can't let ourselves sink so low. We can't be the monsters the NC GOP aspires to, no matter how tempting.

It worked for the GOP.
