Anyone seeing the homepage of wwe.com? Linda had to have demanded the opening video, and the politicians article.

When is the election anyway? How soon after Linda loses do you think they will give up the pg thing?

Politicians embrace WWE

They've always have, brother.

Great. Now Smackdown vs Raw 2011 is even more outdated before it's even out.

I bet the CM Punk DLC outfit won't even be his current look by the time it comes out.
Just noticed this, but dude...are you honestly complaining about THQ and Yukes not having wrestling personas and outfits that are current up to the date of the game's release? Jesus, people love to hate that series.

I think he's more mad at CM Punk than THQ.

I thank God for PG, to be honest. Now, the WWE can't embarrass itself with cringe-worthy "edgy" nonsense like a live sex celebration, Katie Vick, or having a hand being born.

*Googles live sex celebration*

Holy CRAP. I can't believe how far they've toned it down in 5 years. (I stopped watching for a while in the mid '00s)

AKI didn't have up-to-date costumes, personas, etc. either. At some point they have to stop adding and changing shit and begin polishing it. *Insert SvR quality joke here* But no one in their right mind could expect Yukes to have Punk's new look in a game that comes out in one week.

Maybe not out of the box, but they sure made it easy enough to fix. You can edit everything about a wrestlers appearance at the very least. Kane and Undertaker are still up to date in my copy of No Mercy...

Wanna kill time with 17 minutes of the sickest table spots, and chair shots from the last 10+ years of the WWF/WWE? Here ya go:

GET DA TABLES!!!

OH GOD NOT THE FACE!! (Jesus Christ some of these are BRUTAL)

The the pops in these highlights are INSANE. The last time we came anywhere near these was HBK/Taker from WM25.

Edit: The Van Daminator at the end of the chairshot vid is probably the best one EVER. It looked so perfect.

Reminds me of the Ladder match DVd, when seen back to back, they don't seem as impressive.

I love how on all the "GET DA TABLES!!!" clips, the refs rush in immediately (in every clip) to check on the wrestlers.

"Can you still feel your lower extremites? Ok, good...match goes on."

Does anyone know yet how much different the strong grapple mechanic is? All my interest in the title comes down to that one game changing feature.
It's pretty crappy. The old mechanic was much better.
Pretty much the story with all of the changes to the series.

Played the games from Smackdown 1 to SvR 2010 so I know what I'm talking about.

Or did they change it again from last year?

Awesome video.

Edge being involved in a ton of it. Also makes you miss the rivalry between the Hardy's/Edge & Christian/Dudley Boyz. :(

Bucket, the grappling got changed quite a bit from what I've seen. I wish they had released a demo to let us know further, but meh.

I really wonder what Hardy thinks he's going to accomplish. "I want to change wrestling, I want to rock the foundation, etc etc", and that's going to happen by going to TNA? Dude's slowly treading into (/v\) territory.

I've played all the games as well but look at this from the one IGN preview.

The strong grapple modifier is gone, too. If you want to pull off a big move from a grapple, you can't just hold down a shoulder button and flick the thumbstick anymore – you have to earn it by performing chain grapples via flicking the stick and pulling off preliminary moves. As you wear your opponent down, he or she is going to get groggy, and this is when you can flick the stick and grapple for big moves. Strike combos also return this year, and if you land a four-hit combo, expect the opponent to pop into that groggy state.

This makes me not want to play the game.

I'm holding out hope for the new grapple system. From what I understand 'strong grapples' are the new signature grapples. There are appearance a lot of moves that are classified as 'weak' grapples now so it shouldn't just be snapemares and ddts.

My only potential beef with the new grapple system is that there will be a point in the match where every time you pick up your opponent, he will be groggy due to damage, but if you want to do a weak chain grapple, there looks to be no "modifier" button to go to those. Either you will have to wait out the groggy state, or hit your opponent THEN grapple. If what I think is true, they actually REDUCED the control we have over what we want to do, and made it more complicated which is the opposite of what they were attempting with this change.

Truthfully, I don't get why they changed it at all, the system in SvR2010 felt solid to me. They SHOULD be concentrating on the selling mechanics, the submission system, style specific reversals, and getting weight detection back in. They are going in the right direction, but come on, No Mercy had all of these down ALMOST perfectly, and that was 10 years ago. The selling, submissions, animations, weight detection, style specific reversals, direction specific move impact animations, KO system (even in a match where KO was off), etc. etc. etc. have yet to be topped by the SvR series.

I agree, I didn't even think about the weak grapple in a groggy state.

I would love weight detection back. It was stupid to take it out. They really messed it up in games after HCTP. I actually think 2006 was the best Smackdown game, minus the difficulty pulling off top rope moves. I wish they would bring the double knockdown system back. I'm not a game designers, but I don't get why they take whole features out that only needed a little tuning (create a belt, weight detection, crowd fighting).

I truly don't understand why they remove stuff as well. Hell, they removed the 2 v 2 v 2 tag variants after 2007, and those were my absolute favorite type of matches in the Smackdown series. And weight detection was a little janky when it WAS in, but all it needed was a bit of tuning, yet they opt to remove it instead. Double KO's were a great feature as well, but without any proper selling after a superplex, or missing a top rope dive, they would be worthless in the current SvR engine.

The most annoying thing is actually the damage and blood system. I used to have 20 minute matches in hctp. Now I have to work hard to make them last.

Although for all the complaining I've been doing I'm still excited for this years edition. We will see if it's actually good this year and doesn't get traded in within a month.

Do you guys play on XBOX 360 or PS3? Always looking for more folks to play with. Most times nowadays online randoms are just complete douches or simply bad.

The damage system is pretty broken, and the lack of sliders doesn't help matters. The current finisher system also does not fit the SvR series AT ALL. I have not once in a year of SvR2010 been hit with a finisher from an AI opponent that was built legitimately (meaning no Fired Up, no Kip Up, no interference, etc.) The AI is nowhere NEAR aggressive enough to build a finisher against a good human opponent, and again, that could be fixed with sliders if we had them.

I had to lower the momentum build rate SIGNIFICANTLY in order to slow my matches down, but now the AI can't build a finisher for crap, it's so annoying. They should keep the momentum based finisher system they have now, but let EVERYTHING including reversals build momentum like the old games, and have the finisher stored. That way, I might actually lose to an AI opponent. And yeah, make them tougher. I hate the fact that I can EASILY pin a top rated superstar in 5-7 minutes with only one finisher.

I remember playing a Last Man Standing match in HCTP against Ric Flair for 30 minutes! It was crazy. The longer the match went, the more Flair got up. :lol

That's not even remotely possible anymore. IGN just ran a 60 minute Falls Count Anywhere Ironman Hell In A Cell yesterday, and both guys must have had double digit falls by the end. They were pinning each other after a bunch of weak as hell moves. Those long 2 counts, and surprise kickouts are nonexistent in SvR after the 5 minute mark.

MY GOD Madison Rayne looks stunning with brunette hair, if she just would stop screaming so much.. Just watching the rerun of last week (I think), lots of wrestling going on :lol

What? Mickie James is on TNA? Woah..

- According to a report on f4wonline.com, newly called-up WWE wrestlers as well as lower-card wrestlers are required to attend a weekly "promo class" directed by Vince McMahon where he instructs them on how to conduct promos. One person noted that the instruction varies from week-to-week as McMahon cannot make up his mind on what he wants.

- The official WWE website is promoting former WWE Superstar Batista's appearance on NBC's action-comedy series Chuck this Monday at 8/7 CT.

- The Great Khali was introduced Saturday as a contestant on the reality television show Bigg Boss, which is the Indian version of Big Brother. During an interview with rediff.com, the WWE Superstar explained why he took up the offer to appear on the program.

"I took it up because my wife wanted me to participate in the show," he said. "Plus, people have always known me as a wrestler or an actor, not as a person. Through this show, I will reach out to my fans and they will know me as I am."

He also stated he will miss his family while he's away.

"I will miss my wife; I am so used to her being around. She manages my work and everything. So I will miss her every moment. Plus, my parents and friends, as they have been always there with me," he said.

- Walmart will be releasing an exclusive WWE DVD in a two-pack with Knucklehead starring Big Show. “WWE’s Biggest Knuckleheads” will be a one-disc release and will be available only with Knucklehead at Walmart stores.

The preview reads like this: “Includes some of the WWE’s biggest superstar bloopers and mishaps.”

Interested in the botchamania-lite included with Knucklehead. Brotista on Chuck? Hm. Do I watch House or How I Met Your Mother or Chuck for Brotista ...

JR was on the radio here last year and talked about them toning things down. He said that they lost alot of advertisers, and you could see the ratings in key demographics going in the wrong direction. You could see them losing fans that they would never get back. He felt like they did irreeversible damage with the R-rated stuff they were doing. Basically, he felt like if people didn't feel comfortable bringing kids to WWE shows, then you are losing a chance to create future fans.

I do think they went over the line with some of the stuff they were doing and it did turn me off. It wasn't the sexual themes by itself, it was the fact they used it as a crutch to make up for a lack of creativity.
