Just a heads up for anyone doing a lot of fitness, if you sweat a bunch it could potentially brick your headset. I believe this happened to me despite using sweat bands and other measures. Might be a slow process as liquid seeps in/accumulated/causes all sorts of shorts. This is fairly widespread based on the support forums. Got a nice $500 paperweight as it's out of warranty and Meta won't repair just wants to replace with a refurbished unit for an appreciable sum.
There is an article about it here: https://mixed-news.com/en/vr-fitness-kills-your-vr-headset-meta-quest-3-has-a-sweat-problem/#:~:text=Sweat collects in the Quest, and can damage the electronics
I'm going to wait and see if I can revive it with dessication. Otherwise I'll buy new or perhaps wait until something more interesting happens in the VR space. I found I only played super intense workout games and the other stuff just stopped appealing to me (or I was too lazy to play). The workout stuff I have alternatives for.Sorry that happened. Are you going to get the replacement?
It's difficult to tell how widespread it is by forum posts. Even if 5,000 people are reporting it and super vocal on forums it seems like alot, but not if there's 5 million Quest 3.
We've been using our two Quest 3 intensely for a year now with no issues or sweatbands. However I will take the precaution, can't hurt.
I got a headset with a built in fan (and hot swappable batteries). Works pretty well to cool the head.Just a heads up for anyone doing a lot of fitness, if you sweat a bunch it could potentially brick your headset. Alien Rogue Incursion is finally here for Quest 3 users but was it worth the wait? Well, sadly, no. The Alien Rogue Incursion Quest 3 port is easily the worst way to experience this official VR Aliens experience. With low resolution visuals, a constant blue foggy hue, low draw distances, visible pop-in, no shadows and a general lack of any real atmosphere, which was the PSVR2 and PCVR versions strongest aspect, the Quest 3 version feels much more like a Quest 2 port and falls far below the high bar set by recent new Quest 3 games like Metro Awakening and Behemoth, two games that really showcase how great standalone ports can look.
Seems a lot developers struggle to get things to look good. They got some real wizards at Oculus Studios, but I can't say that Batman or Asgard's Wrath 2 look that amazing either.
We're going to limp along until mobile hardware can produce impressive visuals, hopefully more companies give PCVR more love in the meantime.
Cool. I need to play asgard. Still contemplating my Q3 replacement after it shat itself.Metro looked good
And for me, Batman looked amazing with Optimizer. The drawback was the lower resolution, but once you use Optimizer, it looked incredibly good. Asgard's Wrath 2 was more about crazy scale. I'm surprised they went this route considering its mobile but I'll take it. Not even ps5 games have that level of scale.
We got Gorn 2 before GTA 6
You can set a stationary boundary that is basically an arms reach around you. You will be limited in some games that do require room to move around but a lot allow you to stay in place. Can I buy Quest 3 if I only have tiny space? I want to do VR workout with it. Will it work if my room space is 1 m x 1 m + a little more or will my workout effectiveness be severely impacted.
Also, is sweat-protective faceplate necessary? I don't want to break my headset.
I know that myopia corrective lenses are definitely needed in my case because my glasses will scratch the lenses.
