FB...?
You mean first batch? If so, I'd guess I was in the first batch, yes. Ordered about 5 minutes after I got the email.

Sadly, they dropped the ball (again). They originally expected to ship 20-30k in July, but we found out yesterday that they're only going to do 10k. They're way, way behind schedule.
FB...?
I meant Facebook.. lol For you cancelling your order or the reason thereof.
Only 5k are gonna be shipped by the end of July, not 10k. 10k is how much they plan on manufacturing in July.
I have 6x units ordered between 8:30 and 8:57.

Beta Pre-Order open now - Beta available July 29th.
So, guess who's going to play Elite Dangerous this July with a DK2?
If you guessedyou were correct, it seems!"Not me!"
because Oculus said...
and Frontier says...
But all of this confirms that I'll be playing Elite Dangerous this July.
Why so many? Are you reselling?
Oh yeah it's for work. Not scalping.I hope you've got a development team.
Stopping the shipping estimation train with a simple question: Does Senza Peso require an Oculus Rift to work properly? I tried launching it to see how it runs but it's only shown like this (yes, installed all required runtimes, tired latest stable/beta drivers for my card): http://puu.sh/9Vl6N/792c305913.png
Bud with a DK1 says it runs fine without a Rift connected, Reddit says the opposite. GAF...?
I've tried running senza peso without a rift and it didn't work.

lol awesome
"Bernard Yee just can’t stay put. The senior producer of PopCap Games’ recent Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time has taken a job in the Seattle office of Oculus VR, the virtual reality goggles company that Facebook is acquiring for $2 billion.
Yee said in an exclusive interview with GamesBeat that he fell in love with virtual reality technology after seeing a demo at Valve, which has been developing VR technology in parallel with Oculus.
“I was really blown away by the level of emotional reaction I had to the demo,” he said. “The virtual reality technology was immersive and made you feel present in a way that games have never done.”
He compared the excitement around virtual reality to the rise of massively multiplayer online games a decade ago.
“It’s hard to say no,” he said. “If I can contribute in a little way to make something new, that’s fantastic.”

I have a question for folks who have the DK1:
what is your IPD?
while browsing through VR threads I found out that some people with higher then average distances (73 mm for me) had trouble using the device, and had to come up with hacks to make it work for them or buy one of those IPD adjusters
haven't found anything regarding the DK2, but I'd guess the 'issue' is the same with that one.
I can't believe they're not calling it the Galaxy Rift. = (Someone wanna make a topic about this:

Samsung is going to announce the GearVR (presumably part of the Galaxy line) at IFA 2014 along with the Galaxy Note 4, presumably the first VR compatible device from them.
HUGE announcement.
A bit early to say, it may not be bad!
In fact, these things make me a bit wary about possibly buying an iPhone 6 this fall.

That may be an exaggeration. It's basically a headset that houses their phone and adds some functionality. The software/games and support will determine where this goes.
From the perspective of VR, I like the idea of Google cardboard and this though. The development opportunities of something wireless are exciting.
Everything we know about gearvr, and we've known about it for a long time now, indicates its launch will coincide with a brand of vr enabled phones to slot into these headsets. They're not goingoto just accept your existing phone like google cardboard.
This is Samsung's vr platform.
And that's great. I'm skeptical what there will be to do with it. What software are they going to have? What games are they going to have?
This is a great step in the right direction though.
Google just released their google vr sdk. Thats what software they're going to use. This is basically going to be its own class of vr a bit. Mobile vr.
Vr is way more than games. One of google's biggest vr apps right now is their street view vr app. Puts you in the middle of any mapped street. Its virtual tourism.
I think I'm going to try this. Order prescription lenses and place them into the A cups.
I got a Logitech G27 today for Assetta Corsa, and as someone who enjoys arcade and middle ground racers like PGR and Forza Horizon (but not sims previously) holy hell am I glad I bought it. Driving the Lotus 49 around an empty track is terrifying and awesome.
More than any other game I keep forgetting that the arms on the wheel that I see aren't mine. Then I go to point at something or pick something up and I get weirded out for a brief moment. A friend of mine actually reached up to try to adjust the mirror. Seriously.
The force feedback is something else I didn't even think about. It really adds to the immersion because you don't just look like you are there, you feel like you are too. Force feedback, plus 1:1 correlation between in game wheel and wheel in your hands, plus VR, plus headphones, plus a control method that's natural and second nature to anyone who can drive a car... all add up to probably the best rift experience I've had yet...
and I've had some real doozies.
I got a slight cramp in my lower back from bracing myself for one too many crashes.
That Lotus is terrifying... and amazing. Again, I enjoy more casual racing games. I maybe buy one or two a year. I'm not a serious racing enthusiast... but the wheel took a great VR experience and mind it mind blowing. I can't wait for them to patch in DK2 support and to get my DK2! When you feel like your life is on the line should you lose control of the car, racing sims are fricking awesome.
