So as a (very) brief follow-up to my moving thread, I need to pull a Reducto on my computer; I need to make it fun-sized.
The facts of the case (literally):
I'm running a 21" tall, steel-mothertrucker from Antec. I'd have to lose a bet before I seriously consider dragging (shipping) such an unwieldly piece of equipment across the country. Nevermind its size, which would be likened to a testament to "2001: A Space Odyssey" in my temporary studio, it's just plain heavy.
In addition, I'm in no mood to dump any more money than I have to into a computer that's going to be completely replaced in about 18-24 months. I build these things to last me 4-5 years, and I'll be damned if I'm breaking from that cycle.
What I am willing to do is purchase a new case, and transplant my system's guts - PSU and all - into the new enclosure. (I'm also willing to blow $30 on a new DVD-ROM drive, my current one is finally showing its age of seven years.)
That's where you guys come in:
I'm looking for a quality, tiny case. For example, I'm eyeing that 14 inch tall Lian-Li on NewEgg. Aluminum is preferred, as it's light, and it's safe to say that within the next year I'm going to be hauling this thing around more than I normally would.
I'm not looking for cheap; I'm not looking for expensive. I'm looking for quality, and I'll weigh the cost against that. There's "Hey, that's pretty cheap for a case," and then there's "Hey, that's pretty....cheap. For a case." I trust at least some of you know the fine line dividing those sentences.
Take your best shot, kids.
