Off-duty cop dives for cover, dies.

Eww. What a crap way to die. I almost did that at the Grand Canyon. It was night time and I wanted to spook out my parents by vanishing over the rail into some bushes but backed out. In the morning I noticed the bushes were doing a bending upward thing from an eroding cliff. :P

The guy was off-duty. Pulls up behind a routine traffic stop with two cops behind cover.

He goes for cover, and chooses to jump over a wall that's got a 70 foot drop behind it.

So yeah, it's funny because of the sheer stupidity.
 
He didn't dive for cover, looks like he was sneaking, went over a wall, lost his footing and fell.

Not really funny.
 
Oh, I see where this is going. A guy can accidentally fall to his death and it's funny, but if he's not a cop it's a tragedy.

The man had NO REASON to go over the wall. Like Mana said, Darwin Awards worthy.
 
I think it would be funny if the guy lived, but he died trying to protect someone. Does one find car accidents funny if someone makes a wrong turn into oncoming traffic and is killed? I dunno death ain't funny. IMO

I understand why you found it funny. I just felt I so strongly disagreed in finding humor in that article that I had to post. I find that there are certian things in life that are just not funny. That's why we haven't heard any 9-11 jokes. Nothing funny there as well. Right? To each their own I guess.

Actually guys I was in my office, a block away from the WTC. One of the airplane's landing gear smashed my boss's car. Burned bodies/parts all around. Nothing funny there. Nothing.

i found this story funny because i pictured Will Ferrel's character from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back doing it, and yelling "Freeze you terrorist sons of bitches" right before he jumps
 
i doubt i'd find this funny anyways, but it's a little too close to the death of someone i knew who died similarly. Ironically, he had trained to be a cop, and died trying to save some people when he crossed a bridge trying to get to them, in the dark and rain, not knowing that there was a 50 foot drop between the two bridges.

i found it funny because it just sounds so stupid that someone would HOP OVER A RETAINING WALL FOR COVER!!!

then i read the replies and now i feel like an asshole for laughing at the poor guy :/

A cop trying to do the right thing and dying in the process is not funny. He wasn't even on duty and he was doing his job and died in the process. Your a shithead if you think thats even the slightest bit amusing.
 
Its all jokes until something like this happens to a loved one of yours. I hope his family is their to laugh at your despair. +1 for reaping and sewing
 
Sad thing that someone had to die like that, although I hate to say but he should have had better awareness of the surroundings.
