Actually to be quite honest there was a jog to the NW, though the NHC said the center is still at 14.9... nope, simply no way. It's definitely higher than that if you follow the vapor loop I posted in the footer of the OP. Ana will probably die if she hits any island... but if she skids over the islands and reaches northern atlantic then it's another game altogether. In the rare instance she sticks to the south... yeah she has potential. Right now she's looking pathetic but with nature anything can happen. Claudette formed in like 8 hours :lol

EDIT: Ana is more like 15.1 or 15.2 and the models will shift east and north. A HH will fly in and identify the center, strength, etc.

yeah it definitely looks like the center has to be above 15N. But I'm sure the weather center has a hard time determining it because it is so unorganized.

I just moved from Florida to Alabama. But of course this new tropical storm is going to be right over us when we're trying to move into our new house.

Apparently the early data coming in form the HH plane doesn't show much going on with Ana.

We all knew it was barely a tropical storm =P. I am sure they will degrade it by 5PM. It has no merits to be called a 40mph TS.

To those of you on the Gulf... Claudette is looking bad for you guys. Keep checking it

will ana die before hitting land? :lol

In the latest report at 5PM it was degraded to a Tropical Depression =P. It has potential though, if it ever finds a way into the gulf.

Yeah there are some warm waters in the gulf. well I know you think the path will move more north and east but the opposite happened. tell me why you are right and the NHC models are wrong. I'm not being a dick I actually would trust your word more than NHC because they just average out all the shitty models together and form a consensus whether it makes sense or not.

Well, yay. Storm 1 misses us and Storm 3 is on the panhandle.

Storm 2, going toward FL mainland or no? (If I'm reading this thread, no?)

Ana could make a comeback and if it does pretty much all of the gulf coast is on watch. It still looks like Bill will circle harmlessly in the atlantic but relix thinks a high pressure from canada may keep it south so who knows. claudette will hit around pensacola florida tonight probably as a strong tropical storm

Originally it seemed to relocate the COC to the NW. The thing is that the weaker the system the more it trends to go west. I thought it would have become stronger and go to the north. Shit happens :lol Right now, if the NHC track holds true, she should die in Haiti.

this makes no sense. how is Ana still a tropical depression. it looks like a tropical wave at best.

They will probably call it an open wave at 11PM. They are waiting to see if there's a potential comeback though.

I have to say that I don't really like it when the Weather Channel actually mentions the name of my town specifically. seems that the eye is headed towards me. Good thing this is just a somewhat weak tropical storm and not a hurricane.

not living anywhere near any coastline I don't follow some of the specifics- but is it unheard of for a storm to generate IN the gulf like TD#4 ?

In years past whenever I pay much attention to this stuff they seem to start up in the middle of the ocean and drift westward then gradually north and if that happens to take them through the gulf they almost always become hurricanes.

In this case it looks like it just kind of appeared out of nowhere and is already making landfall.

You'll be a'ight. Unless Claudette gets all retard-strong like Allison did, it'll just be a nuisance at worst.

You are safe unless you see this guy in your town

Then kiss you butt goodbye

Ana is making an awesome light show here in PR but she's moving further north than promised and is hitting us hard. Also, she wants to make a tropical storm comeback before hitting us. Nice =P.

And now we have hurricane Bill! But unless it goes along the most southern portion of the projected path, yall won't feel a thing

Bill us huge :lol Jesus at least it went away from the antilles I wouldn't want to be dealing with that!

Bill is weakening and just passed Bermuda. Tropical Storm winds were felt there. Now off he goes to... Canada?

A wave in 35W looks to have potential and one about 58W in the Atlantic embedded in the ITCZ and still in front of the Antilles is being developed by computer model NAM as soon as it goes into the caribbean.

Damn I LOVE hurricanes! When I lived in Puerto Rico it felt like a holiday every time a hurricane came to the island, but now in Dallas living in these cardboard houses I feel unprotected, even tough the only thing we have here is lousy tornadoes.

I'll never forget Georges :D :D Of course many people got the short end of the stick but I cannot deny it was the most impressive thing I had ever witnessed.

I forgot to update Tropical Storm Danny is alive and looking at the East Coast or to the Nova Scotia. Keep a watch on him!!

Danny is no longer and its just an extratropical storm bringing rain everywhere in the northeast.

Now, 94L bears watching. Has great potential to be Erika soon and pass north of the Antilles or even over them and into the Caribbean or hit the islands and go north to the Atlantic once more. It's still developing, as soon as its named I'll update. Could be an even for the East Coast as well.

Some of the coldest cloudtops I've seen this season and it's from a developing system:

That darkspot? Yeah, it's cold. Very cold.

Hopefully erika doesnt smack you Relix!!

Hurricane Jimena is a fucking beast. Good luck to all in Mexico that are going to be hit by it.

My guess is Erika hits Florida then curves East. Course I said the same thing about Katrina and Rita, so I'm probably waaay off.

I am expecting it to be downgraded to a TD @ 11PM.
Now, there seems to be a new circulation forming around 59W and 18N. This new, dominant center, will probably make the whole forecast change and he system now pass over or north of Puerto Rico instead of south as it was going to do. Reason? The old circulation died. No one knows if the new one has a Low Level Circulation which is a requirement to be a storm, but right now, and thanks to the absolute uncertainty, everyone's guessing. Yes, even the NHC. Nature is playing trick to us with Erika.

I hope no big hurricanes come through Florida. I enjoy all the wind and rain but the big storms like we had in '05 really put a damper on my mood for actual hurricanes hitting us head on.

I'll see if I can find some pics I took during the '05 storms.

Erika still a TS, pretty sure she will weaken soon though.

Anyway, picks from when Tropical Storm Ana hit PR as a minimal TS and then died!

Erika will PWN me starting from tonight and all the way through Friday. May not see me in a while guys =P

Hurricane Ida (now a storm) just battered Nicaragua and it's making it's way to the Gulf of Mexico.

Pretty nasty track. The heat content of the water is even higher than what bred Wilma in 2005
