"Hello ponpo!"

Hng. Would pet.

I don't understand why so many people dislike moths. They can be really cute, and remind me of butterflies.

Because these fancy cosplay moths do not reflect reality. This thread is nothing but thinly-veiled propaganda by a known moth-sympathiser.

Butterflies are beautiful, graceful creatures, who go about their business peacefully and without causing trouble.

Moths are dirty, evil creatures that are always drunk and would happily steal your wallet. They are jealous of butterflies and wracked with self-loathing. They respect no one. At the first sign of a light being on they will invade your home purely to harass you.

There is no helping a moth, they will resist any attempt to do so because they think annoying you is "funny". If they could, they'd upload it to YouTube to laugh at you.

Moths are the chavs of the insect world.

Okay I think I found a phobia worse than my one of spiders.
I mean some look cute, but some look like they're spiders with wings.

I remember seeing mothra on holiday once was I was very young, I just couldn't believe moths could get so big - wasn't scared then.

We call them also night butterflies.
There is also another relative, something between moths and butterflies. It swings its wings very fast like a colibri and feeds from nectar. It is quite common, though hard to catch as its very fast

Fun fact: In Indonesia moths are called kupu-kupu malam, which means night butterfly and which is also an euphemism for prostitute.

Ok, I'm almost on board with this moth thing. I just have one question:

Is there any possible way a moth could ever hurt me?

If the answer is no, consider me a new member of your weird fetish club, OP.

Found this (somewhat) big guy (it's actually a female) as I got home from work yesterday. It was laying eggs all over... haha

In case you are curious this is an Imperial moth (Eacles imperialis).

(Yes I am a mot fanatic....there is quite a diversity of moth around and not all of them are as drab as one may assume).

I went into the spiders thread trying to keep an open mind but left unconvinced.

This thread on the other hand did deliver. Those are some cute moths.
