Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

I thought it might be helpful for people who didn’t play the alpha if we could give some general gameplay tips. Especially for people who are coming from a FPS background and may not be familiar with some of Destiny’s gameplay mechanics. Maybe the better ones could be organised and included in Dax’s Beta OT. (Don’t want to tread on toes here though! Ha.)

This was great - I learned something new about the Supers!

Actually, how would a Titan even be able to use a super again Sepiks Prime?

I played both Titan and Warlock in the Alpha and I liked them both a lot. Probably going to try Hunter first during the beta. What am I suppose to do if I end up liking that class too?

Thanks man. I found Titan worked best on crowd control, taking out the drop ship guys quickly, allowing the others to fire on the boss.

You can have three active guardians. Run them all through the game.

Buy 2 more PS4s and 2 PC monitors to go with them. Then play all three classes simultaneously. I'm sure someone can hack a Dualshock 4 to control 3 PS4s at the same time. Bonus- You have a Fire Team from the start!

Yep, I think the game design encourages it, especially with a shared loot vault. At least give them all a try. You may find you like them all for different reasons or just to change things up.

I'm playing Hunter for sure:

+cloaks
+triple jump
+melee super (the arc blade, not the shitty golden gun)

though that Titan super punch looks rad as hell.

We need more titans out there people! Everyone wants to be warlocks and hunters it seems. We need balance!

I will be 'main'ing an Exo Titan.

Gonna lay down some of these...

I assume it is a rule for both and that it won't change as you level up. I think it's a smart way to make players choose what is most important to them - players that have more exotics won't automatically be more powerful but they will have more options.

I think it would be nice to have that number increase as you leveled up. It would really help set higher level toons apart from lower levels as far as gear score and would be a good reward/perk. Maybe it will be something they do in an expansion along with raising the level cap. That 1 exotic rule seems to be arbitrarily set with the intention of increasing later on in my opinion.

I especially like how the helmets of the Warlocks look like a hood. So combined with longer coats, the armor mimics a flowing robe with a hood.

Titans drips force from their hands, Hulk Smashes fools to oblivion, have that sexy fur Gladiator style and are the ones keeping eveyone safe.

Titans FTW!!

But can your class make a Big Ball Rasengan?

Yeah... thought not.

Warlock FTW! And then twist that!

loving this Guardian love battle

What else can people think of for new guys?

Nice guide dude!

A few thing to add that I didnt see.

Explore mode
When in Explore mode - While in a mission, if you want to abandon the mission. Bring up your companion, and press Triangle.

Ammo packs
Special Ammo, or Heavy Ammo - When switching special guns for example, you lose all special ammo. (Not sure if this was flagged as intended or a bug)

Sepiks Prime
When fighting Sepiks Prime, I noticed people standing in the little hallway before the big room. When people do this, I noticed that it spawns captains (with grunts) that are really harder to kill. So we usually just stay in the main room.

Cant wait for july 17!

One thing I noticed was the loot crates seem to drop in different locations every time unlike borderlands where they have different loot every time but the boxes are always in the same spot.

Lol didn't expect a bite so quickly ;)

Seriously though, I just noticed something, Titans built the wall and gave their lives to defend it.

http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Titan

They are Destiny's Night's Watch!

I thought the wall was built by the Traveler.
Regardless good find.

*The wall in the north was built by the first men in association with the children's (forest people) deep rich magic. Brandon the builder and the first men couldn't do it on their own :)

Is there any word on a Destiny themed Xbox One coming out alongside the game?

Usually when games are heavily marketed for one console and not mentioned for the other it's releasing, it means deals such as bundles are also exclusive. So unless somebody has outright said that a Destiny xbox one bundle is coming out, I doubt it will as I have never seen it happen (From the top of my mind). I mean there wasn't a Watch Dogs Xbone bundle was there?

I don't know why I didn't get a feel for all 3 classes in the alpha, I just picked Warlock and ran with it. I was a big fan of the super, I got lots of multi kills with it in crucible when the other team was capturing a control point. I hear that it has the worst double jump. When I got used to it I loved it, if the hunter and titan are better then dayum!

When I play the beta, I think I will start off with a titan for a few hours then hunter for a few hours and make a choice for the rest of the beta. Obviously in the full release I will max out every class. But from my experience the warlock is straight dopamine and the titan or hunter will have to be amazing to make me want to switch teams.
