Why don't you guys just Red Box games? Gamefly fucking sucks and I will never use them because they suck but Red Box is decent.
How long do you guys even keep the games for? Depending on the trade in value, if you don't play the game for that long to begin with it might be worth it to just rent the damn thing.
Doesn't RedBox charge per night? I don't have time to power through a game in a day or two. It takes me weeks to finish. Red Box would cost me too much money.
But I agree with your larger point that buying most console games at retail prices isn't worth it. This is why I'm putting the trade ins towards Steam credit. Thankfully, I can say I made a profit on my trade ins yesterday:

Total Paid $93.81 Traded in $104.50
Net profit of $10.69. To be fair, I did use a 15 dollar GC at newegg to drop the price of NHL, however for what I paid I made over 10 bucks in owning these games. Based Forza put me in the black!
Edit: Yay, my new mouse should be here tomorrow. I can start playing some more PC games again. My stupid Logitech mouse took a giant dump. Left click became borked. Either I don't get a response or it double clicks. Makes doing tasks and playing games a bit painful. Shame too, because this one is only about a year old, and my previous Logitech mouse treated me well.
