Well, actually I do have. Because expect from the new moves they are the same like in MGS3. I mean, they were good back then, but I think with the new generation there must be more. For example: Compare the hole movement (running, crouching and so on) with the one of the new Ghost Recon. In GR it looks far more natural und dynamic. In MGS4 it looks like from yesterday. I'm really shocked - I have to say. I've expected so much more after all the "big" annoucment from Kojima in the past. And now it seems like he just changed the camera and added a few new movments in the game. Great.... :-/

It's a bit sad but I gotta agree with you. MGS4 is not what MGS2 was, compared to MGS, and what MGS3 was compared to MGS2. Although I am one of the biggest known MGS whores, I am a little freaked out of the franchise becoming too commercial. And about Kojima... I am pretty sure he can't wait to release MGS4 so he can Jump in creating new titles.

Standing in the shadows hoping the guards miss you? Sounds like fun? So basically most of you expected this to be a straight action game? Not to mention you all some how know every facet of the gameplay from a 3 min trailer? Wow GAF never ceases to amaze.

I believe thats just one of the things you can do, the way we will be able to fool around with the A.I in the battlefield should be tits.

It's a stealth game the whole concept behind that idea is finding different ways to avoid enemy detection so that you can take them out or get passed them.

MGS3 w/camo?

Yet you could still go rambo style and run n' gun, which I'm sure will always be an option here as well.

Really? This seems like the most ambitious and dynamic hiding mechanic thought up yet, it allows you to use stealth to another level with the ability to use nearly everything in the surrounding environment as some sort of canvas regardless of being organic or not which only traditional camo-gear would do in certain situations.

True. MGS4 looks fantastic but still believable while MGS2 reduced even the most cynical gamers away. To be fair though, the only games with that type of affect turned out to be CG.

the animations stand out like a sore thumb.

Doesn't matter how next gen graphcly you can get, stiff segmented animations always jump in the face.

just like prior MGS games, there is barely any fluidity from transitioning from one state the the next

it's like Tekken, they stick with age old T1 moves and don't reanimate them

Tekken 5 animates real nice, IMO.

That's because it really does animate excellently. Tekken 5 would be a poor example of bad animation since it's a primed example of the direct opposite. There is Tekken 1,2,3 already on the disc, seriously try to play them then play Tekken 5 afters....almost makes Tekken 5 look and move like CG in comparision. :lol

I don't know if the animation for this will be improved and these are just place holders or not, but I will say it's happened before to a small extent during development of past MGS games.

MGS2's first internal Konami trailer (that wasn't shown to the public until the release of the Document of MGS2) featured jerky animations for Snakes new moves and guards that all died the same way they did in MGS 1 (falling straight down every time). The MGS2 demo featured guards that patrolled with a different animation then the final game, and some guns didn't have a recoil animation in FPS even though they did in the trailers and final release.

MGS3 had a game play trailer that featured the camouflage system right before E32k4. That trailer had Snake using MGS2 animations for standing, running, and walking as place holders, (you can tell because his upper body and arms don't move at all when running or walking). It also had an early stalking animation that was really jerky compared to the final game.

Here's a link. If you're familiar with MGS3's animations you'll note he doesn't stand, walk, or stalk like that in the final game:

These are all small improvements at best though, so I wouldn't expect major animation overhauls or anything. Just slight impovements.

Come on..maybe Snake starts the game young, and what we've seen so far was just cutscenes with young Snake replaced with an Old Snake model. As the game progresses his body decays and he gets older. Thus we end up with the Old Snake we all know and have come to love.

Freakin' awesome!!!

I think I'm going to have to lay down for a bit, then get a drink, then watch this dozen or so more times.

That little sequence at the end....Kojima what the hell are you doing to me? Snaaaake!!
