That's it. Dirrrrty needs to hit Manny here. HIT HIM.

Why, because your pitchers can't get our guys out? Yeah, that's smart. Put Manny on so Varitek can hit a two run shot. :)

You sound like some of the dopey Yankee fans out there.

Just a great game, one of the best all year easily. Had a bit of everything. And Schilling finally gets his 10th.

I have never been so ****ing glad to see the Mets head to Yankee stadium.
Boston was ****ing brutal,great team.

with the likes of hernandez and trachsel starting, i wouldn't be so glad..

The next 6 red sox games are against the Marlins and D Rays....Ugh. Even if the Jays manage to win 6 straight (extremely unlikely) they might not even gain a single game the way the Sox are playing. Please lose! If we can gain just one game in the next 6 I'll be very happy.

Jays will have to sweep the remaining games they have with the Sox....something which I'm sure they can pull off

No doubt. But then again those games will be war. 2 out of the 3 games will probably go right down to the wire, regardless of who is pitching on either team.

everyone go to mlb.com and vote for Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau for the all star game NOW

Great game. Hats off to the Sox. They're playing great baseball right now. Mets are playing pretty bad ball. Baserunning mistakes, errors in the field (bye-bye Lastings, see you next year), and shit-tastic starting pitching (Glavine excluded obviously). At the plate, I really feel like Beltran was the only Met who showed up; it seems like he ran every count full, while Reyes was popping up 2-0 fastballs.

Let's right this ship against the Yanks. Hell, who am I kidding. I feel sorry for the Yanks having to face us after sustaining our first three-game losing streak of the year.

Now don't make me eat my words, Metropolitans.

Well at least you gained a half game on the Yanks tonight! :)

I voted for Mauer. Go vote for Loretta at 2B because he's certainly better than the current leader, Robinson Cano.

Yep. I see Willie ripping these guys a new ass for playing such poor baseball against a prime time team like the RedSox. This shouldn't be happening against teams the Mets should be more than capable of hanging with. We should have taken atleast 1 game from this series, this is just uncalled for. The Yanks will be tough as usual, and for their sake the Mets had better come out ready to go firing, otherwise this is going to get ugly fast. Especially with the tail end of our rotation coming up.

Also, I'd just like to say that this is the time for the Mets to play mediocre ball. I've watched too many Mets seasons go down the drain after the team was red-hot going into the all-star break. Call it damage control if you must.

And I don't fear the Yankees one bit.

Ugh 2 innings to go we need 2 runs to win this. Why did the bats go quiet tonight? I want sole possession of 2nd place over Texass!

Edit: Raul with a clutch homer and Johjima(!!!!) tripled!

Now Reed just deeds to drive in Bloomcrap and this game is as good as over.

OMFG I feel like barfing after tonight. Major props to Crips even though I was cursing like a sailor and startin to throw shit around. Red Sox used small ball to beat the Mets tonight. This series has shown me Red Sox are much better team, and they have alot to do before there a elite team. Startin pitching is the most important one of all. Mets need a good series this weekend.

We won! Not sure about that being a home run, but I'll take it.

God damn, Boston is never going to lose. Anyways another sweep which is good to see. Next series is against Philly, hmm usually after 3 wins in a row we go on a mini slide of a couple of games.

Did you see what I typed earlier? I slammed my baseball bat on the ground and lapsed into incoherency.

No, because a fight there would symbolize the old '86 Mets. Even if you beat them, they take their pound of flesh. Ray Knight vs. Eric Davis, anyone? I bet

"Delgado is dancing circles around Ortiz..."

Why not? The guy's on pace for something like 145 RBIs and 40+ HRs.

It's not that he's not having a great season, but since this is an NL park, people like Ortiz, Thome, Giambi etc. will be in front of him.

For example:

Thome:
AVG .286 | HR 25 | RBI 65 | OBP .415 | SLG .619

Morneau:
AVG .288 | HR 19 | RBI 64 | OBP .342 | SLG .558

They should just have the DH at the all star game even at the National League parks.

so apparently david justice ripped arod on the yes network because....the yankees wanted him to.
A variety of moles, some embedded inside YES, said Justice, the network's pre- and postgame studio analyst, was strongly encouraged - perhaps even ordered - to criticize A-Rod, by YES brass, including the network's production boss, John Filippelli.

"It (Justice's A-Rod rip) was verbatim what they wanted him to say," one mole said.
sounds stupid, but most likely true. the yankees were also known to take a live yes camera into joe torre's office after losses and ordered the reporter to ask torre hard hitting questions, usually about his management decisions in the game. that has stopped though, since torre basically went into george's tampa office before spring training even started and demanded stuff like that stopped. none of this is new though, george has been doing this forever but now he just makes other people do it.

if you missed it, justice said:
"If the game is 9-2, he might make it 9-4. If the game is 7-1, he might make it 9-1. But when it is 2-2 late in the ballgame and I need a base hit to score a run, the numbers show he has not been getting it done."

"... The one guy you need more than any of them (Damon, Giambi, Jeter), just because of his sheer talent and ability to carry a ballclub on his back, is not answering the bell and that is what is so frustrating to the fans. And I'm sure it is frustrating to him."

"...Everyone says he is going to come around, but if he comes around in two weeks, where will the Yankees be between now and two weeks?"

Agreed. The All-Star game is the one time I'd support the DH rule, and I'm sure the fans wouldn't mind.

Today the White Sox begin their destruction of the Cubs :)
(although we're facing a rookie we've never seen before in Sean Marshall, so we'll lose unless we get to the bullpen =( )

****ing ump. Just cost the Cubs a run in the seventh with a bad call at home plate. I see how the White Sox are winning all these games, paying off the umps to cheat for them!

That was huge. It was a very close play. AJ's foot looked like it blocked Pierre's hand.

Uribe makes it 6-2 :D

That's a White Sox winner. One down, two more to go. Uribe with 5 RBIs

I don't want to jinx anything, but if the Red Sox could lose a freaking game at some point in the next few months that'd be just f'ing great. :P :P

Well, seeing as how our starting pitcher tonight is JASON JOHNSON, I'd say there's a pretty good chance the Sox lose. I'm stunned that he has only given up 5 runs through 4 IP.
