Have fun with that "pitching staff" in the playoffs!
have fun on the golf course! try to at least make it to .500

our rookies will come through for us.

Great I just found out that Oswalt was going to the Mets twice, but Orioles stupid dumbshit GM backed away twice.

The deal was going to look like this.

Milledge and Heilman to O's
Tejada to Astros
Oswalt to Mets

Again, as dumb as Purpura may seem, there is no way that deal was offered.

If it was...

...Purpura just made about 4 million enemies (well, really like 500,000, all the WS bandwagoners have jumped ship long ago)

I'm pretty happy, but I wished Mets would of gotten the stud pitcher to really really put us over the top. But I'm confident Mets will go to the World Series and win. :) :D

If the Mets had somehow fed Purpura enough Twinkies to get Oswalt, we would have basically Gift Wrapped the Mets' World Series appearance.

Delmon Young: And them players shower in Avian, while we shower in sewer water

Rome was hilarious yesterday.

---------------------------------

Anyway about the Oswalt trade rumors, The Astros organization has denied him ever being on the table (other teams brought it up) and I'm conviced the O's leaked their dealings with the Astros in order to stir up trouble (tip Oswalts hand into testing free agency). Personally even with this mess I think McClane will give him the contract he wants. Lots of money coming off the books in the next two years.

Apperntly it was a 3 team deal, but once it sank Oswalt was out of the market. But I would think Mets would of traded Lastings, Heliman, and Bannister. Oswalt on the Mets would of really solidfied the starting rotation problems.

Oswalt wasn't ever going to be trade to the Mets. That was some fake deal perputrated by the little league franchise, otherwise known as the Orioles. The Astros FO never brought his name up in negotiations unless it was brought up first and then they would tell them he's not available (same with Berkman, but there didn't appear to be any rumors about him being traded). Why would the Stros part with Oswalt for Tejada only? His value is greater than that of Tejada. Oh and that alleged 3 player deal with the Mets straight up is complete bunk. I've never saw that coorborated by any named league source. Anonymous sources mean shit.

Anyway I'm ready to move on from that fiasco. Time to get back to playing good baseball (the hitting has come around for the Astros the past week, but the bullpen has been shaky). Can't ever seem to get all aspects of the team playing well at the same time.

So how come Oswalt is pissed off at Astros magament then??? He said they were talking behind his back with these trade rumors.

In non-Oswalt related news, why is no one talking about 22 year old Josh Johnson from Florida?

He's 9-5 with an NL leading 2.52 ERA, has 100 Ks against 51 walks, a 1.27 WHIP, and a .222 BAA

Cause he's from Florida.

So are Willis and Uggla. And both get more press than Johnson.
Look at all the mention Willis got his rookie season, and Johnson is on pace to have a better rookie season all around.

I guess it's because Johnson doesn't have some funky delivery

Yeah he's pretty good he might win rookie of the year. I like his stuff florida has a good pitcihng staff.

Because Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle posted an article based on an article based on anonymous sources the Boston Globe wrote. Roy apparently had sources that know what was going on so maybe there is some fire there.

And there's this:

Oswalt, according to a Major League executive, was never offered by the Astros. Any mention of Oswalt's name came from the Orioles, who ended up not dealing Tejada to any team by the 3 p.m. CT deadline.

But there's also this:

Roy Oswalt said:
"We have good sources outside of Houston who know a lot that went on," Oswalt said. "People don't think that I know."

Of course all of this is from unnamed sources so it is difficult to tell who is telling the truth and who is fabricating a story. I chose not to believe it for now. But regardless it has hurt Oswalts relationship with the team.

Orioles: We want Oswalt.
Astros: We're not giving up Oswalt for Tejada.

Orioles: Psst...I heard Oswalt was mentioned in trades.
O's Reporter: Really?
Orioles: Yeah.
O's Reporter: Wow, I never knew he was being traded.

O's Reporter: Me and The Orioles were talking about Oswalt being traded.
Richard Justice: :O!!

Richard Justice: The Orioles and "my inside source" were talking about you, saying you were being traded.
Oswalt: WHAT THE ****?

Oswalt: YOU'RE TRYING TO TRADE ME?
Astros: What? No, I never said you were.

Oswalt: /bulldoze Minute Maid Park
roy-oswalt-tractor_0.jpg

Again, if he WAS offered...and it is proven, then Purpura is a dead man.

Richard Justice is ****ing ridiculous. He was the first to report [in the Chronicle] that McLane ordered Lidge to be traded, and then later said on ESPNNews that Drayton never ordered that trade.

I don't like to turn this into a fantasy discussion thread, but it's a slow time of day so what the hell. Astro fans, do you think Andy will have a good game tonight? I know his last two outings were pretty awful, after it looked like he had turned the corner. He's against the Padres...not the toughest of teams.

If he tests free agency the Yankees have him locked up. All they have to say is, "Roy, not only will we have a special parking spot for you so you can drive your bulldozer to the stadium, but you are free to use any of the equiptment being used to build the new Stadium anytime you want."

Actually, I have no ****ing clue. Andy confounds me this season.

Yeah, I have no idea what's been up with him. I guess it's his control. Some games he's had high K totals yet still given up HRs due to his ability to self destruct this year.

I think he'll have a good outing. But that's not really based on anything but my gut feeling. Besides, Hoffman will blow it in the 9th if comes to that. Have you looked up his head to head vs rights/lefties and his opponent? For instance Roy O was like 4-0 against the Dbacks coming into his start on Saturday. He ended up dominating them so those match ups do mean something in fantasy IMO. But then again I don't play in fantasy leagues so my opinion means zilch.

Oh and Andy lives and dies by his cutter. If he has command of that he's ****ing nasty. He'll get people to offer at his big looping slurve and you can't do shit with that pitch. Again all IMO.

You should be glad that deal fell through, because if it happened, we'd be without Sanchez and Heilman. Oswalt would have been a great addition, but without a bullpen, it wouldn't matter.

EDIT - Not to mention losing Milledge.

Have fun with that "pitching staff" in the playoffs!

You realize you're inviting bad karma by openly laughing at opposing players' injuries, right? Now Andruw Jones is bound to break his wrist or something.

Take your shitty team's shitty play like a man, already.

Okay it's now offical Sanchez will miss the rest of the season he has torn ligmants and everything. He was not wearing a seatbelt during the acciedent.

Where is that being reported? All other reports say they won't know until he is reexamined next week.

The report they gave on ESPN radio made it seem like they were positive both Lopez and Jason LaRue would clear waivers without a problem.

Its time for Heilman to get it together and do his thing. He can really help this time out should he return to that killer set up role he supplied the Mets with last season. This will make or break Heilman. I get the sense that if he can't do a decent job then this will be than likely push the Mets to ship him out of Queens. I like the guy since he can be so *on* at times but he needs to be more consistent and step it up already.

Sucks for Varitek. Wasn't he heating up?

And if Cashman DIDN'T block ANY trade the Red Sox were trying to do while they are behind them in the standings, he's a tard. Or asleep at the waiver wire.

Abreu's glove is annoying. Can someone get him a blue glove?

Jason Johnson is beyond awful. Seriously, why is he starting? David Pauley can pitch better than him. Hell, Abe Alvarez can pitch better than him.

Francona likes his insulin pack. Cool accessory.

:lol Did a ball go off of his head?

He misjudged a fly ball and let it drop infront of him-it would have been inning over had he made the play. Next guy comes up and gets a double,Pelfrey gives up a run and the game is tied 1-1. Bleh.

That sucks. Do cabs even have seatbelts? I've never been able to find a working belt in a cab.
