WTF what a sack of shit.

Throw strikes. You throw a 100 mph fastball. How about using it instead of your stupid shitty slider?

Edit: Pathetic. Farnsworth sucks ass. 5 ERA. Bullshit.

:lol

I'm not gonna lie, I wanted the Yankees to win so the Tigers wouldn't gain any more games on the Sox, but that was great. Everyone saw that one coming.

Farnsworth is not good, Joe, stop pretending he's a closer.

Use Villone or something. Use Proctor late in games since you obviously have a mancrush on him.

At the rate Torre uses him, Proctor's arm will fall off by the all-star break. I really don't understand why he doesn't use Villone more.

Because he doesn't know how to manage a bullpen.

Don't worry, the Tigers are still frauds. If the Yankees have their normal closer available, they win that game easily. You guys will crush them in your next series.

Torre has made some fucking glaring mistakes as a manager of late. I still don't understand why he pinch ran with Damon and didn't steal or hit and run the other night. Stupid.

The one-run game record disparity between the Braves and Mets is ridiculous.

Okay, well, I just ran the pythagorean calculations for the hell of it. Braves are 0-1 games behind their pythagorean and Mets are 2-3 games ahead of it. Going strictly by runs scored / runs allowed I'd expect the Mets to be one game ahead of the Braves right now. As for the strength of schedule argument someone mentioned earlier, well, who do you think the Mets were playing when they got to their great start? :) I don't think the Mets can claim it's been a big issue for the course of the season (though I guess it has for the last couple weeks...)

Anyways, I'm not convinced of a giant Mets collaplse like the Nationals has last year (yet....). If anything I'm expecting a close race all the way to the end of summer. Unles, of course, the Braves get their bullpen figured out, in which cases the Mets can kiss their asses goodbye :D

(Fransworth should be available on the cheap now! We'll take him!)

The last use of fück in this thread =(

Who else is disappointed that Gagne did not pitch tonight? And why is Hamasuck not in the minors? he blew the shutout tonight. But poor guy, fans booed when he got the final out with chants of Gagne. He looked like he was about to cry.

Me. However, I got a kick out of the fans chanting for Gagne and the fans practically exploding towards the bullpen when he got up to warm up.

Nice win by the Dodgers, Lowe with strong 6 innings and Matt Kemp, Russel Martin and J.D. Drew going yard. Nice to see Drew go deep but it's specially nice to see the rookies go yard. The only blemish was Tim Hamusack in the 9th, he's a lost cause.

Kent is on the D.L and Joel Guzman has been called up from AAA Vegas. =\

EDIT: Do we have anyone in the minors that could take his spot in the bullpen? How about all these rumours of the Dodgers acquiring Maddux from the Cubs?

I dont know but it would be great if we can get an Ace. I dont think lowe, penny et al can keep this up. Prove me wrong though.

Dodgers have a deep farm system. They should give up a shitton of prospects and try to get Dontrelle Willis if the Marlins really want to give him up.

funny thing is the team playing now is the farm system. I dont want to give up kemp. And I would rather have Zito then Willis.

How about Ethier? I bet the Oakland A's wish they hadn't pulled the trigger on that trade. :lol

Yeah, who would of thought. Either is great, unless Ned spoonybardspoonybardspoonybardspoonybards up, this team will own for years to come.

I really hated seeing Dirty Sanchez go, he was solid as a setup man last year.

Seo is a good pitcher, why he's havings problems still baffles me (in his mind the Mets betrayed him and he feels very bitter about it. Might be affecting him). He'll be ok in the second half. Trust me, Hamulak will help you. I feel he could've used another year in the minors because of control issues, but the Dodgers felt he was ready.

Umm I was talking about for the month of May...you know, when the Braves supposedly got their act together playing those awesome Nats, Marlins, and Cubs teams for oh about 12 games.

And who's claiming it as an issue? Oh, except for Bobby Cox in April. Don't hear him complaining about the schedule now.

I have no doubt it will be a close race, but so far the Braves have looked extremely crappy. I mean, come on! 4 out of 9 to the Mets?? The Mets?!?! The Braves have always owned the Mets from the first series on. Larry wanted to name his son Shea, for Turner's sake!

On second thought, this is not bad. Sheffield won't get his ridiculous option picked up now and we can be done with his attitude.

Good thing they signed him over Vlad Gurerro. :*(

I'm supposed to go the the game against the Orioles tonight, but it's supposed to Thunderstorm all night. Get this, though: Even if the weather is ok and we just decide not to go, we can pay a measly $3 to attend a future Orioles game. Who knows if it's a Yankees game or not (and let's be honest, no other game is worth the price of admission), but I think it speaks volumes on just how poorly the team is managed.

No word yet on whether or not Peter Angelos is going to start or has already started papering the crowd, but it can't be that far off at this point.

Orioles: Just Like the Last Days of WCW

Orioles: You Really Like Jeff Jarret, You Know It

Orioles: Rodrigo Lopez is really Lex Luger

That's why I'm a Yankees fan. Well, that and Bobby Valentine.

I guess that makes Bruce Chen...who, Norman Smiley or Disco Inferno?

Cashman always searches for available talent, but Torre believes the trio of Bernie Williams, Terrence Long and Kevin Thompson can handle the duties.

"To me, I trust Bernie and I think I trust T-Long,'' Torre said. "I like the way [Long] has played. I know [Cashman] burns the wire but I don't think we need to [make a trade].''

Holy shit you guys are in trouble.

there was a rumor of a 3-team trade with dontrelle willis going to the phillies and pat burrell going to the yankees (i forgot who the marlins would get) but florida denied it.

the yankees are as beat up as they can be right now but they keep winning so i guess it isnt that bad.

We have potentially the biggest doofus at the helm with Torre. The redeeming quality of his (and also someone like Francona) is that he handles the media particularly well and he handles the players well.

Any regular manager--especially Ozzie the tard--would have sniped at Sheff for his personal declaration of selfishness. Torre has handled Sheff well throughout his tenure, and he's managed to maintain a professionalism that we can appreciate as fans.

But his own the field baseball managing skills are absolutely subpar and often lead to losses in the biggest of spots. Thank you Jeff Weaver.

I heard about that three way trade two days ago. The Marlins want the prospects, we NEED pitching, and yet, we're getting another mother flowering OUTFIELDER.

This is outright ridiculous, and reminiscent of a move Isiah Thomas would make. ****ing ridiculous. Also, consider the fact that Robinson Cano and Melky Cabrera are actually pretty damned good. OUR FARM SYSTEM IS GOOD STOP TRADING OUR PROSPECTS FOR BUSTED OLD PLAYERS!

Yeah, I've been beginning to see that while Torre can handle the NY pressure and his players' personalities, he can't manage a bullpen or a game to save his life.

I mean aside from the obvious bullpen blunders, he could have pinch hit twice yesterday in big situations, yet he left Terrence "9 men LOB all by myself" Long stay in.

"He's a pro and easy to like in the clubhouse," Torre said of Long, "He has been in the fires before with Oakland when they were winning pennants," Torre said. "You can never discount that experience in my mind."

NO NO NO.

ABILITY > EXPERIENCE

Yeah, he was in the fires with Oakland alright. Remember whe took a called strike 3 to end the game with the bases loaded against the Red Sox in a one-run game 5 of the ALDS in 2003?

On a side note, ESPN's last update removed OPS from the front page stat sheet. Nice, ESPN. Taking cues from Joe Morgan I see. Those blasted computers ruining baseball.

Terrence Long is a career .725 OPS. We seriously can't find that in our minor leagues? Oh wait we can, Joe is just a retard. Experience and belly full of guts ftw.

Well they also played pretty well against the Padres and Rockies during that stretch. The Braves "getting their act together" is something I look at as more of the individuals componenets, rather than their w/l during a stretch - starting pitching isn't getting rocked like it was the first couple weeks, Francouer remembered how to hit, etc. The main missing piece is that atrocious bullpen....

Anyways I think we agree on the big point - should be a good race :)
