Cubs are putting on a clinic on "how to lose games". Somebody better be writing this team's autobiography in the dugout.

PS - I love how the camera men give Bonds "the angles". Let's just give every swing of his a sky-fixed camera that pans slightly and zooms into the boats. Who cares if he doesn't even make contact.

14th at Shea :o

Make that 15th. Mets have no one left on the bench, and no one left in the pen.
Ryan Madson entered todays game with a 6.95 ERA... currently he has a 5.90 ERA :lol

Holy shit Dodgers gona sweep the Rookies. I can't say enough how proud I am to be a Dodger fan. This team is straight fiyah! I just wish Penny would go 6 innings but really it doesn't matter.

Apologies if it's been posted:
News: Rogers Sportsnet in Canada is reporting that the Angels and Blue Jays are close on a deal that would send Shea Hillenbrand to Anaheim in exchange for 2b Adam Kennedy.

Views: This would be a very interesting deal, and one that would figure to work very well for both teams involved. Aaron Hill has been very disappointing at second base for the Jays, while the Angels will do just about anything to get a capable bat in the lineup at this point. The Angels already have top prospect Howie Kendrick up in the big leagues, who would slide into Kennedy's spot at second base. Toronto can simply use their crowded outfield situation to replace Hillenbrand as the usual designated hitter in their order, filling the gap with a combination of Eric Hinske, Reed Johnson, and even catcher Gregg Zaun, who has been on fire for most of the season. Let's see if anything happens here.

Hmmmmm.....

Really incredible how both the offense and defense/pitching is just clicking on all cylinders lately. Not to mention Gagne is expected to be back in as soon as a week.. crazy shit. I just hope he doesnt come back too soon and end up hurting himself again.

People, Cole Hamels isn't pitching tomorrow he hurt his arm and is being flown to Philly for an MRI. John Lieber is pitching in his place vs. Alay Soler.

“Right now it feels weird,” Hamels said in a dead quiet clubhouse. “Since I felt a difference in the way my arm was feeling than over the last couple of days it worries me a little bit.”

“I don’t want the same mistake happen twice,” said Hamels, who tried to pitch through the elbow tenderness in 2004. “It’s a little different then it was in spring training. I don’t want to hurt this team. We have a chance to make the playoffs and I don’t want to get in the way of that.”

“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” Hamels said. “That’s why it’s so new to me. That’s why when it first happened I didn’t want to take any chances.”

Damn, that's messed up. You hate to see that happen to a young kid.

Unless that kid's name is Scottt Kazmir.
:D

Mets had alot of heart in this game tonight. I mean they would not go down.:) Hats off to the Phillies-this fucking team is good,as in scary good. That lineup gives me the creeps. Just happy that they went cold after the 8th inning, whew. I'm very curious to see what type of mechanics Soler has tomorrow. Hopefully he will contribute and be a mainstay for the staff,we could use a good 4th/5th starter right now. If he can go around 7 tomorrow that would be sweet since the pen was used alot tonight.

WOOOOOO! I was worried after that 1st inning but Penny really settled down. Even though he only went 5 innings our bullpen held well enough. Great night to be in Dodger stadium!

What is management gonna do as guys start getting healthy? We have R. Martin, Andre Ethier and Willy Aybar spanking the ball left and right. We have Gagne and Izturis headed to the minors before coming back to the majors.

I wouldn't do Kennedy for Hillenbrand, but maybe I am biased as I despise Kennedy for some odd reason. Of course I am not opposed to trading Hillenbrand as I doubt his stock will go any higher than it is now. And I don't think Hill has been that bad at 2nd base. He finally is out of his slump as his average has gone from .190 to .225 in like 2 weeks and will only go up, and his defense even though it is not as good as Hudson is still great. But I wouldn't be surprised if the deal did go through as JP has some sort of fetish for 2002 Angel players, and if it did I would expect Hill will be moved back to SS and Adams will be sent down to AAA to work on his throwing mechanics.

Oh and Calder if you haven't heard Towers was put on waivers and no one picked him up so we can send him down to AAA no problem, today start might just be his last as Chacin is back for the Boston series and it seems as we are skipping his start for that series.

Pujols is having an insane start 23 hr and 57 rbi in 44 games, thats fucking crazy. Sooner or later though pitchers are going to have to pitch around him. I don't get to see that many Cardinal games, how much protection does he have around him.

The new SI had a little article about him. That's rough.

Remember when Maddux was on pace to win the Cy Young after his first 5 starts? Neither do I.

Honestly, could you lay off? What more do you want? Bartman, Sammy Sosa's embarassment, World series, crosstown series win, fistfights followed by grandslams, Jim Thome.. There's nothing more to take and rub in Cubs fans' faces anymore. Just leave us alone.

Impossible.

The pitching-thin New York Mets acquired Orlando Hernandez from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, hoping El Duque can help them now -- and maybe later, when even more is at stake.

Hernandez

The Mets traded reliever Jorge Julio to get Hernandez. The deal was announced before the NL East leaders hosted Philadelphia.

Listed at 36 years old, Hernandez was struggling in his first season in the National League. He was just 2-4 with a 6.11 ERA in nine starts for the West-leading Diamondbacks.
Not a bad deal. I like Juilo's potential, but El Duque >>>>>>>> Lima Time.

So basically Mets traded Anna Benson for John Maine/El Duque. Not too shabby.

Julio was mostly used in mop up situations,so its not a big loss. El Duque though-if he just keeps the Mets in close games thats all that we can ask for. Just happy that we didn't give up any of our young players on the farm,so all in all,not a bad trade. :)

TEH BIG UGLY!

Manny is on fire.

I'd trust any of our AAA starters more than Yosh Towers. He's up against the super-powerful D Rays lineup, it's understandable that he'd give up 4 runs in less than two innings! This has to be his last chance, and he's blowing it. Cut him already.

1.2 innings, that's a new low I think for Towers. I wonder if he's getting on the bus to AAA as I type. Man am I glad I didn't go to this game.

Watching Clement pitch pisses me off so badly. Show some fucking sack goddammit.

If the real Yankees lineup were playing, he would've given up 5 runs by now.

It's deja vu. Billy Wagner, is that you?

I know this must piss off a RedSox fan. Clemet proceeds to blow by the top of the order only to walk EVERYBODY in the bottom of the order. Him hitting Stinnet with the count 2-2 only tops it off. GO CLEMET!!!!
