Another good win against Detroit. 5-0 against them so far this season, and we go for the sweep tomorrow.
I'd be confident in getting that sweep if it wasn't for Garland pitching

Goddamn does Detroit suck against good competition, now watch them beat the Blue Jays.

Veteran White Sox reliever Jeff Nelson said after the game he would have surgery on the nerve in his elbow next week, a procedure that will probably end his career.

Well, as long as we get 6-7 out of our starters most nights the disaster that is the '06 bullpen will not be magnified too much =(

The EDGE with a 2-Run blast to dead center!!!

NY Mets -- 9
Dodgers --6

He ain't go-wing nowhere
He ain't... goin' no-where,
he CANNOT BE STOPPED NOW,
'cause it's Lastings for life!!!

I was in the left field bleachers for that. Ball was out in about two seconds. Lastings hit a LASER.

Well that didn't take long. Baseball is ****ed. Absolutely ****ed. I dunno what the hell to say.

If you didn't make it to the last paragraph, it's just a joke. But it sure scared the shit out of me when I saw it :lol

Oh, you are evil. Truely evil. Thank you for scary the living **** out of me with that mention of Jeter. Now I have to go change my undies. :(

Well that sucked, Great series against the Mets. Hopefully that is the last time the Dodgers send Odalis to the mound as a starter. Great to see our offense is still going strong but I dont think they can just keep digging us out of the huge holes we get put into every time the 5th Starter goes to the mound. Anyone want Odalis Perez, im sure the Dodgers will take a 12pack of cold ones in return. At this point I dont think anyone will want to take his salary in a trade of any sorts. Odalis Perez for Lastings Milledge? :lol

Now lets hope the Mets stick it to the D-Backs!

"I'll make sure to do my part. You guys just beat the Braves and Phils."

Man, what is with me and these non-Japanese anime images? I'm losing it. :D

Lastings Milledge looks like he's gonna be a stud for years to come. Mets should do whatever possible to keep in the bigs once Nady comes back from the D.L. :)

Wood to be examined, may miss start
Right-hander having trouble recovering between outings

HOUSTON -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood flew to Cincinnati on Wednesday to be examined by Dr. Tim Kremchek and is questionable for his next start.

Wood lasted 3 2/3 innings against the Houston Astros on Tuesday, his fourth start after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in late August. He's had trouble recovering between starts and was given two extra days before Tuesday's game.

Wood (1-2, 4.12 ERA) was scheduled to start Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds. Cubs manager Dusty Baker said Wood now is "questionable" and rookie Carlos Marmol, who has made two relief appearances since being called up from Double-A West Tenn, could sub.

Kremchek performed the arthroscopic surgery on Wood's shoulder, and Cubs athletic trainer Mark O'Neal said they wanted to get the pitcher there now to be examined rather than wait until Thursday. Plus, seeing Wood the day after he starts could give Kremchek a better diagnostic advantage, O'Neal said.

Time to pack it in, Kerry.

I don't believe Wood is THAT good. Yes, he struck out 266 batters in a season where his ERA was almost 4 (in the NL central), but he also walked 100 batters.

Prior...now he is good. But WTF is up with him.

What kills me about Wood is that he got that huge contract for being a lifetime .500 pitcher. Terrible move by Hendry.

And Prior?

What's ironic is that even though I hate the Cubs, I've always liked both Wood and Prior. Prior, especially. Why couldn't Zambrano be the one who has chronic injuries? I loathe him with every fiber of my being.

What shitty taste in baseball players you have.

He probably only likes them because he hasn't seen them play. Unlike Zambrano, they're never pitching. He's putting the pussies on a pedestal.

The Frankman said:
Mark Prior for Alay Soler. RIGHT NOW. Rick Peterson will fix him in 10 minutes. :lol

Also, don't say The Frankman never brought this topic TEH FUNNY!!
Seagull hit at Buffalo Bisons game.

EDIT: Actually that's kinda sad. I feel for the poor thing.
Don't worry. They mentioned later that it was taken to be examined then flew away on its own.

No, it's because Prior and Wood are class acts. Key point, NLCS, games 6 and 7 that they blew at home. They didn't make any excuses. They didn't blame Bartman. They didn't blame Gonzalez's error. They threw themselves under the bus. Prior flat out said "I blew it. I stunk. I completely blew it, and I apologize to the fans and the organization. Put all the blame on me."

They never called the booth with Stone and Caray and complained like Walker, Alou, and others did. Throughout the years there have been douchebag players on the Cubs year after year. Wood and Prior have never shown themselves to be anything but classy.

Don't tell me I haven't seen them play...I've been watching Cubs baseball as long as I've been watching White Sox baseball. Hell, I remember Wood's first complete game, and the very good 5 innings he pitched in the NLDS his rookie year, where he allowed only 1 or 2 runs.

I shouldn't like them as players because they're often hurt? Manny's always been healthy and I think he's an enormous asshole.

I hate Zambrano because he's a goddamn nutcase. He showboats after every inning, screaming into the sky and pointing. He starts screaming when he doesn't get a call he wants. He yells at batters when they hit him well. Passion is one thing. Being an overzealous asshole is another.

This is my fault. I drafted Sheffroid onto my fantasy team, so naturally he's injured most of the season.

I sure am glad I won't have to worry about that asshole hitting bombs against my team the rest of the season (in alll likelihood anyways). Melky may be able to take away homeruns, but I seriously doubt he can be as intimidating as Sheffy at the plate.

matsui next? i'd like to keep him but sheff can leave.

Matsui just signed a 3 year deal.

Sheff was all "my ophsun get' pik up" in his stupid attitude-speak earlier this season and Cashman said, "Uh, no, I didn't say that." Good luck with that now.

Somehow, I find this hard to believe. He is a product of your scrubby farm system and will reveal his true identity soon enough.

why must everyone on espn refer to the soprano's like it's some sort of handbook on how to deal with the feds?

I'm not talking about players that were developed in your farm system over a decade ago.

I'm sure there are plenty of teams whose farm systems looked quite a bit different 10 years ago.

I CHANGED THE RULES!!! and as it is we got to see how good papelbon is gonna be.

This is NOT a joke. From deadspin:

First: The person who told Grimsley about the positive test in 2003. That’s former Royals general manager Allard Baird.

As many people have guessed, one of the “former players” who were sold out by Grimsley: Sammy Sosa. Our source(s) couldn’t confirm if the other was Rafael Palmeiro.

Nothing new or exciting about that name. Then it starts to get interesting. We’ve heard amphetamine rumors of Miguel Tejada, but we can’t confirm that. What we can confirm? The doozy.

Grimsley says that a former employee of [redacted] and personal fitness trainer to several Major League Baseball players once referred him to an amphetamine source.. Later, this source provided him with “amphetamines, anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.” This trainer? His name is Chris Mihlfeld, a Kansas City-based “strength and conditioning guru.” (And former Strength And Conditioning Coordinator for the Royals.) If you read the document, it doesn’t say the trainer/Mihlfeld supplied all the HGH and what-not; it just says the trainer was the referrer. Mihlfeld.

Does Mihlfeld’s name sound familiar? If it doesn’t, he — and we assure you, this gives us no pleasure to write this — has been Albert Pujols’ personal trainer since before Pujols was drafted by the Cardinals in the 13th round of the 1999 draft. We have no confirmation that Pujols’ name is in the affidavit … but Mihlfeld’s is.

Baseball might be in serious, serious trouble if this is true.

Dr. Strangelove said:
If Pujols turned out to be a roider, how many people would seriously be surprised?

I would be, for one. And from everyone in the media talking about how bad for baseball it is that Pujols is hurt, since now a "clean" player can't pass Bonds' tainted HR record, I'm sure a lot of people would.

It's not like Pujols suddenly started being a good hitter. He has been since he's been a rookie.

He has been tested three times so far this season, and has been clean everytime. The only thing he could be on is HGH.

HGH, when ingested, reacts with the kidneys to form a powerful compound that when excreted on the hands, increases wrist strength for hitters, and pitchers do it to increase tendon strength in the fingers.

If this stuff is used as much as Grimsley says it is, get the *'s out.
