And you were doing so well.

What's with the AJ Burnett hate? This coming from a Yankee fan, who's general manager has signed the likes of Jaret Wright and Carl Pavano after career years..

Aside from 2003 where he had Tommy John surgery, Burnett's been an above average pitcher. in 2002 and 2005 he pitched > 200 innings with around 200 Ks, and was dominant in 2004 in a shortened season after coming back from the TJ surgery.

Outside of KC, we play the Sox, Twins, Tigers, Rangers. Those are going to be some awesome interleague games to watch though.

Outside of the Cubs we get the Reds, the Cardinals, and Astros. Then for a consolation prize we get the Pirates :)

Hes been injury prone and was a douche in Florida also he pitched the crappiest no hitter ever.

LOL OKAY.

First of all, I don't know if you know how the Yankee organization has worked for the past few years, but it isn't our "general manager" that made those decisions.

Burnett sucks. He was a 3.7ish ERA player in the NL EAST (which until this year was not the heaviest hitting division in baseball). He had 200ks but 80 walks in both of those seasons! His record and career ERA+ (110) indicate that he is a slightly above average pitcher when you adjust for his park factors.

Quite frankly he was not worth the money spent and Ricciardi uncharacteristically spent a ton of cash on him.

This man speaks the truth. Burnett is simply not that good.

Look at Beckett now that he's come over to the AL East. Beckett's style of simply blowing people away doesn't cut it when you're in a division with so many top tier hitters.

a career 110 ERA+ is pretty good actually, and in 02,04,05 it was 121,112, and 117, indicating that he's returning to his pre-TJ form. Saying he sucks is *bit* unfair, but then again I do agree that the $55 million / 5 year contract was a bit ridiculous.

Strangeglove: Yes Beckett and Burnett are pretty similar pitchers with similar career numbers.. still if the Red Sox lost Beckett for the first two months, they'd be in a much worse position. slightly above average pitchers are HIGHLY valuable, especially in this division.

It's above average (by definition).

I think he has talent, but he has really yet to put it together. Every once in a while he will go on a run of like five starts and 3 ER total and then he'll have a stretch where he just has no control or he gets bombed.

LOL, Blue Jays are thinking of playing Glaus at SS during interleague play. That is going to be a pretty crappy left side with Hillenbrand playing 3rd and Glaus at short. I guess they will do it when Lilly, Burnett and Taubenheim are pitching. Janssen and Halladay give up many grounders so we need the best infield defense possible when they are pitching.

There always seems to be one guy on every team (usually a scrub) that owns us. F*ck.

Oh, and we're being shut down by a guy with an ERA of 7.50.

I missed it, what was Francona pissed about?

and Uribe is 2-2 with two RBIS, what the christ

A strike against Ortiz I think. I'm not really paying attention though.

Yeah, that was a webgem and a half.

White Sox bat around and get 7 hits in the inning to take a 5-0 lead. Don't **** this up, Buehrle.

Pablo Ozuna meanwhile is batting over .420 and is 10/15 on the season with RISP =o

Yeah, Ortiz was unhappy with the ump, so Francona came out to make sure Ortiz didn't get tossed.

This team's performance has been utterly miserable for the last two weeks. Without Ortiz's walkoff homerun we would be looking at six straight losses.

Jesus, are the Braves going to get swept by the Marlins of all teams, suddenly I am more afraid of playing the Marlins than the Braves.

Damn the Twins defense is robbing the Red Sox, not that I am complaining. And Ortiz just got robbed of a homerun and now a double play, LOL, not the Sox day.

Yeah, Marlins have been playing good ball lately, which is fine by me when they help knock out other teams in the division.

EDIT - Well, it's official: the Mets swept the Phillies, the Marlins swept the Braves, and the Rockies swept the Nats. Good week.

Don't worry, Coco Crap will kill it.

Or not.

Damnable Crisp actually came through, I guess its up to Varitek. Don't screw up Nathan. And he pops out, inning over.

Raise your hand if you thought, at the beginning of the year, that the Detroit Tigers, Cincinatti Reds and Seattle Mariners would have better records than the Atlanta Braves. Also, if you thought that the Braves would have a worse record than ANY team in the NL West.

Ok. You're lying.

This is goddamn terrible. The worst part of it all is that as great a manager as Bobby Cox is, he's not equipped to deal with this. He's TOO much of a player's manager. He's not gonna do the right thing and bench/demote people who have proven, consistently, that they're not reliable enough to help the team win games. The bullpen needs to be detonated. Francouer needs to go back down to Richmond, I don't care how many hrs he has. Laroche, Langerhans, Giles... I would do away with everyone not named Chipper, Andruw, Edgar or McCann in that line-up.

Even our starting pitching is ****ing terrible. What the hell happened? This is so depressing I don't even want to drink. ****.

Yeah, after I saw his OBP and walk/K ratio(even though everyone knows about that by now), I was wondering how long he can actually last in the majors this way. A good arm in the outfield can only get you so far. He almost seems like a gimmick now. But the thing is, from what I've read, the Braves farm system is pretty much barren of position players, and only Diaz could replace him.

Oh, and Boston, after watching Lopez pitch just now, thanks for Riske =p

Yeah, thanks for Lopez, ****face. :)

Manny ends it by going down swinging on three fastballs, two of which were right over the plate. We just got swept by the Twins. Sweet merciful mother of ****.

This weekend the Braves/Sox will engage in shitty combat. The fans of both teams will weep as neither wants to win another game ever again.

at the beginning of the season, someone offered me the trade of Dan Haren, Nomar, and Baez for Harden. I took it with some hesitation....but I think I got the better end of that deal :)

dont worry we got that but from oakland :lol

Hi

Another big Mets fan here. This is the best roadtrip I ever saw from the Mets since I've been watching them since 1994. Offense was clicking thru out the whole series, I belive they score over 20 1st inning runs. This is the kind of offense I was expecting to see when I first saw this line up on opening day, looks like Beltran's last season was only a fluke because he's doing great this year. Mets bullpen had alot of rest which is good because it looks like they were starting to get tired. The weakest link here might be Steve Traschel, he's too incosistant I think they should start thinking bringing up Michael Pelffery. But Mets have alot of work still they have to contiune to step on the thorats of all of the NL east teams espeically Atlanta, so they won't creep up on them.:)

I wish the Dodgers would have another streak like we had before so more of OUR fans could come out of the woodwork.. The Pope, Poody, rc and I are holding down the fort for the time being though.

Yep it was good week for the Mets. But they can't let there graud down even though they have nice lead in the NL east, it's only June. After the O's Mets have enough tough strech before the all star game.

Here you go, Qwerty, I made up a higher quality avatar for you.
