His .288 OBP is sure awesome :lol

Don't get me wrong, for 22 years old he's doing great.

Don't hate on the greatness.

Main reason why he's such an asset is that he goes after pitches, but is capable of hitting them.

Nice to see the Braves being to win without the Jones' boys. :lol

siamesedreamer: I believe!

:lol @ the Yanks. Most pathetic 4 games in Toronto I have ever seen from us. Everything that I could say has been said, so I will stop there. However:

You see this man? Fear him. 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings and they take him out! What the **** Twins fans!
Eh he was starting to show signs of trouble in the 5th and 6th innings. He had over 50 pitches combined in the 5th and 6th, and, when he was taken out, he had like 93 pitches total. Though I'm a huge fan of liriano and don't believe much in the pitchcount, I can see why they'd take him out.

#1. He was starting to make mistakes with his pitches (even though only one run scored on him)

#2. He's a young guy that's never pitched over 200 innings in a season (he pitched 191 last year at the A, AA, and AAA levels).

#3: Gardenhire's a pretty firm believer in the pitch count.

If I were A-Rod I'd demand a trade out of New York.

The way the NY fans and media have been treating him is just disgusting. I wouldn't want to be a part of a team from a city with such rude people, that's for sure.

Demanding a trade would mean they got to him. He can't be a pussy and let the media and fans run him out of town.

Get out of this funk and make them respect your game if they won't respect you...

ps: I like how it's all A-Rod's fault but no one is talking about the horrendous pitching...

*high fives siamesedreamer*

Yeah mother****ers! How do you like THAT shit? Huh? Huh?

Oh wait- I just high fived siamesedreamer. I'm gonna catch the conservative disease. Ewwww.

To be fair, Sidney Ponson being a bad pitcher isn't a story. It's a fact of life.

What the **** man, the dude is paid $25 Million a year. When you get paid that damned much you don't make 5 errors in one series, or go 0-8 across two games with 5 strikeouts. Now, I know baseball and I know that a player goes through ups and downs in the season, hot streaks and slumps, good seasons and bad ones, but Jesus Christ A-Rod needs to snap out of it. From the end of May on he's just been barf inducing.

However I would trade you A-Rod for Liriano.

Random baseball fan WTF:

Ty Cobb holds the record for most career steals of home, with 54.

:lol :lol Goddamn ridiculous. No one will ever come close to that.

Hrm, who has the best starting rotation in baseball?

Detroit:

Kenny Rogers
Justin Verlander
Nate Robertson
Jeremy Bonderman
Zach Miner/Mike Maroth

or LA Angels:

Bartolo (Fat) Colon
John Lackey
Jered Weaver
Ervin Santana
Kelvim Escobar

How Santana is 11-3 and hasn't even really been talked about is beyond me.

A sit-in on Mike and Mike in the morning just proposed A-Rod for Rolen and the Cardinals' best pitching prospect. Even if the Yankees eat a bunch of the contract, I don't think the Cardinals take that trade at this point.

How about Clemens?

I have a question for you fans of the EVIL EMPIRE, is Texas still paying half of A-Rod's salary?

I bet the active leader doesn't even have 10. Or even 5.

Horrendous? Oh, you mean Ponson and the mop-up crew. Our pitching has actually been pretty decent, all things considered, especially since the break.

But A-Rod's O-fer everything with 6 K's (Saturday: bases loaded, 1st and 3rd less than 1 out) are just inexcusable. At least make contact--that 1st and 3rd, the Jays had the infield back, conceding a run, daring A-Rod to put the little piece of wood on the little ball, and still nothing. The errors I just can't explain other than he's wigging out, Knobby style.

I'm one of the more forgiving Yankee fans, I'm old school, but A-Rod's series against the Jays was just baffling. And maddening.

We cannot win with him as a shell of what he was. It's just not possible.

Edit: Like Randy Johnson, as a team, our margin for error is slim to none. We do not have the offense to even sustain a long win streak which is why we need A-Rod to be A-Rod from here on out. He doesn't need to hit 70 homeruns but he needs to at least present the idea of a threat. The only idea he's creating in pitcher's heads right now, especially in a situations where pitchers should be wary, is one of "Automatic Out". I will not sit in the stands or at home and demean him, he's part of my team and I support him, but he has to be made of sterner stuff, mentally.

Reggie Jackson dealt with as much shit as A-Rod, even moreso within his own clubhouse, but nobody remembers any of that now.

the thing that always amazes me is how a team with a near $200 million payroll has to resort to throwing chumps like Sidney Ponson, Shawn Chacon and Jared Wright out there to pitch. Seriously, $200 million and you have ONE good starting pitcher this year? The Yankees have been horribly mismanaged. George should fire Cashman and then fire his own senile ass. They are treading on Knick territory.

I still cant get over this Dodger team. How does an offense perform this poorly for so long after being mostly good this season? It's mindblowing.. and the pitching, my god the pitching has been terrible to boot. It's a god damn travesty.

the fat old white guys in tampa are to blame for the mismanagement, not cashman.

The White Sox are "extremely close" to trading for Nationals outfielder Alfonso Soriano, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Tim Kurkjian.
It's expected that Brandon McCarthy would be the big piece going the other way. If the White Sox get Soriano, they'll likely use Scott Podsednik as their primary center fielder, with Brian Anderson perhaps platooning with him against left-handers.

edit: beaten

Depending on what we give up, I don't mind the deal, but we better be thinking of resigning him, and not giving up a lot for a rental. We still need pitching, but I wouldn't mind this at all assuming we can resign him.

The White Sox, said the source, also are close to acquiring pitcher Mike MacDougal from the Royals in exchange for minor league pitcher Tyler Lumsden.

Holy shit please do this.
