Marlins win against the Phillies. Willis faces off tomorrow. Marlins need to win this series. It's probable they win tomorrow though. They take 2nd place in the division for the first time this season.

Sorry, Ultima, but now that the Marlins are in 2nd place in the division, I'm no longer rooting for them. Go Phillies!!

EDIt - And this is the second time the Marlins have been in 2nd in the division. Don't you even know your own team?!

Oh ya? I don't remember them being in 2nd. I don't know what you are sorry about? I'm a Marlins fan, win or loose...

How the hell did BJ Ryan get out of that mess, it was Batista-esque. Of course he didn't blow it like Batista would have but there is still 1 more inning.

Maybe he is getting rusty, there is a lot of time between his saves. Oh well, we finally win 1. McGowan goes tommorrow, hopefully the good McGowan shows up, we really need to win tommorrow.

I am disgusted right now......

Pedro appearently looked like shit and we couldn't stick it to him.

And we trade Betemit to the Dodgers for a bunch of shit right after Chipper hurts himself.

Its the Mets year.......absolutely nothing has gone right for the Braves this season.

They were half a game ahead of the Phillies very briefly a few weeks ago. And I meant I was sorry because I wasn't going to be supporting your team any more for the time being.

The Yankees and Phillies were reportedly talking late into Friday night about a Bobby Abreu deal that might also include Jon Lieber or Cory Lidle.
ESPN.com's Jayson Stark has said that the Yankees could get a discount by taking the full contracts of both Abreu and Lieber, as there's been little interest in both players elsewhere. The Star-Ledger reports that the Phillies are now discussing second-tier Yankees prospects instead of Philip Hughes and Jose Tabata. Jul. 29 - 2:01 am et

The outlook on Scott the past few years has been 4th outfielder at best...and not likely to crack the starting lineup ever

Take those words back!

oh and:

For the No. 5 starter's spot, the Yankees also have looked into Kansas City's Mark Redman, Washington's Tony Armas Jr. and others -- the same uninspiring list everybody seems to be picking from. One person familiar with the team's plans said all of the starters they're looking at are so similar that they'll likely end up with the one that costs them the least in terms of prospects. ... The Royals asked for Tabata in talks about Redman and were turned down, but the teams continue to negotiate. ... The Yankees also have been hunting for a cheap, right-handed hitting first baseman in case they don't get Wilson. They called the Rockies about big-league-ready prospect Ryan Shealy, in part because they heard the Red Sox were interested in him, but Colorado seems more likely to deal Shealy to Kansas City for Jeremy Affeldt.

"I almost saw Halladay out there," said Maddon, referring to Roy Halladay, the AL Cy Young Award winner with the Blue Jays in 2003. "A real heavy sinker. Just pounds the strike zone. The velocity on his sinker is really abnormal."

"He was just pounding the strike zone with that sinker," Wigginton said. "The ball would take a right hand turn. I'd say he had no-hitter stuff tonight."

Yeah bitches, this man will take your heart. This man induces his own mother into double plays. And she's never touched a baseball in her life. See those pom-poms? This man can toss both of them at you at the same time and still get a weak ground ball out of it.

Great game last night--I was in the bleachers with my "Vamos Yankees!" shirt raising hell every time A-Rod came to the plate.

Edit: I am so hung over right now I could cry.

Yeah, I think it's official. When Wang is on, he's ****ing dangerous.

The issue now is increasing the frequency in which he is on and making sure he can be on against the Red Sox. Then again, with matchups and Fenway...he may never be on against them.

Well I'm back and I've been reading that past few pages of this thread, and I noticed alot of Mets hate here. Mostly from a delsianal Cubs fan who's team will never win a World Series because they suck major ass they alway choke. I wonder where he was when Mets pumpeld his team on that Sunday night game. But anywaysbig weekend series for the this weekend.

From the Orioles board:

Rosenthal just stated on Fox that Angelos killed a deal that would have sent Tejada to the Astros. The Rangers and Angels are still heavily involved.

At the same time, the Phillies have backed off in their demand for either top pitching prospect Philip Hughes or outfield prospect Jose Tabata and instead would settle for other prospects, like third baseman Eric Duncan or pitcher Tyler Clippard.

Foxsports's Ken Rosenthal just said that the Phils and Yanks are close to a deal involving Lieber and Abreu for not much in return.

So if the Yanks get Abreu, they're gonna have 5 starting outfielders in a month when Matsui and Sheffield come back. How the hell is that gonna work?

Abreu is long term. Sheff is done after this year. He'll be 37 or 38 making 14 mil a year. Bye sheff. Sheff can DH. I don't like Abreu though...he's no sheff.

Matsui will be back and he will retake his spot. Melky will be the fourth outfielder. Bernie will ride the bench like he should.

Bubba Crosby will be sent to my house so I can personally kick his ass for sucking so much.

How many more years does Shef have on his contract? I'd love to see him back in hotlanta.

"The Astros have a backup plan in Julio Lugo, but need to act quickly because Toronto is also in on the Devil Rays shortstop."

Jesus. Rosenthal why must you hurt me so?

I wonder if Andruw Jones still thinks the Braves are the team to beat in the NL East.

If I was Bobby Cox, I'd keep Smoltz and fire the rest of the starters and just bring up players from triple A. There's no way they'd do any worse...

How the hell does Hudson suck this much?

I thought NL pitchers were meant to suck in the AL, not the other way around.
