Hrm, decent trade but maybe at some point the Yankees will realize they can't put more than NINE people in a lineup or on the field. Jeez!

Damon
Jeter
ARod
Giambi
Abreu
Sheff
Matsui
Posada
Cano
Cairo
Cabrera
Guiel
Phillips
Green
Fasano

Who the **** else? Shit.

**** the Astros,I cant even believe they thought about trading Roy-O.

If Roy is sending messages he is gone after next year, then I could see it to get 2 or 3 good bats. But I would hate to see Roy go.

Maddux to the Dodgers?

im going to assume phillips gets sent down?

or at the least craig wilson is great on the bench. he can play first, outfield, third, and i believe he can catch too.

The Cubs have reached a tentative deal to send Greg Maddux to the Dodgers.

The deal requires the commissioner's approval because it involves a cash transaction of more than $1 million going from the Cubs to the Dodgers.

Oliver Perez and Heath Bell were apparently traded for Scott Linebrink

And doesn't this make Andy Phillips expendable? If nothing else happens, our bench will finally look decent at least. Maybe this move was made thinking Sheff doesn't make it back and you can still DH Giambi. Phillips stunk it up at the plate at the wrong time.

Man, after all this hype the Nats kept Soriano? WEAKSAUCE!

Maddux will probably do better as a Dodger, as the stadium is bigger and at night fly balls won't drift as much as they do in Wrigley on this hot summer days.

What do you think of the Mets trade for Perez and Roberto Hernandez for Xavier Nady? Does that mean that Millege will be the everyday RF or does Chavez get more playing time?

GARY GILLETTE
A great trade for the Mets. Nady is really best used as a supersub; I don't think he's a quality everyday player. I'm sure it means Milledge is going to start in RF. Why shouldn't he?

GARY GILLETTE
The Mets got a replacement for Sanchez in their bullpen, then got to take a low-rent gamble on O. Perez. Very impressive. Perez is the kind of guy they used to say had a million-dollar arm and a 10-cent head.

Brian (Tampa)
Shawn Chacon got traded but whom did the yankees get back?

GARY GILLETTE
Craig Wilson. Terrible trade by the Bucs and good move by the Yanks.

tommy (delaware)
i do agree with you that the pirates are not very well run, although i think they got the better of the nady for perez/hernandez deal. a solid everyday player for an aging pitcher and an average (at this point) pitcher.

GARY GILLETTE
Tommy, that's a reasonable opinion. But Nady is overrated right now, and the Pirates can't be in the position of trading away valuable--even if difficult and underachieving--properties like Perez.
Pirates will learn about Nady very quick.

I will miss Nady. But Linebrink rules, if that deal goes through. Linebrink/Bert Hernandez combo begins to compensate for the loss of Duaner.

I don't think you understand the Pirates situation with outfielders right now...

And I think the Yankees will learn about Wilson quite fast. He's patient at the plate... But he still strikes out a ton. He shows some signs of power, but he's lacked it a lot recently, to the point where there were rumors a year ago, as with Perez, that he may've been using some illegal "supplements."

People are gonna think I'm crazy, but of all the teams the Pirates dealt to... The Texans got, potentially, the best player. Wells has great stuff, the Pirates pitching coaches were and are terrible. They ****ed up Perez, they ****ed up Schmidt, they ****ed up Benson, and now they're ****ing up Duke, Gorzelanny, and Maholm. I think Perez was overrated to begin with, but Schmidt is great now, and Benson is quite solid, though erratic. Wells could have an impact on a better team.

MLB TRADE UPDATE FROM JAYSON STARK
Julio Lugo to the Dodgers for IF-OF Joel Guzman and minor league OF Sergio Pedroza. Lugo will play 2B for L.A. while Jeff Kent is out. Then they'll figure out what his position is.
Noooooooooooooooo . . .

Linebrink deal is also a done deal. Something else better be announced or the Pads are flat out retarded
I can find NO LINK for this, also Jay Horowitz (Mets PR) just said its completely untrue. Also there is a rumor Mets may want Chavez and NOT Milledge to play RF. WOW. . . I'd rather have Diaz up than Chavez everyday in the Playoffs. We need Edge to come up and be doubleclutch for us.

Yikes, the Dodgers gave up Guzman for Lugo.

Jesus ****IN CHRIST what a STUPID GOD DAMN TRADE. Why dont we play Izturis at 2B? We've got Furcal, Izturis and now Lugo.. ALL SHORTSTOPS! We paid ****ing 13 million dollars for Furcal who has been average at best... and now we've traded away quality youngsters in Aybar and Guzman. Betemit at 3rd leaves Izturis at 2nd -- right? WRONG I guess.

They'll figure out what position at that point? I seriously am beside myself. The Dodgers front office is stupid as ****!

Still wish there was more pitching to be had but I'm glad Cashman didn't pull the trigger on any silly moves. Solid pick-ups for us. Maybe Lidle can lock-up the 5th spot and since we traded Chacon, Aaron Small gets called up for another go at it as long man (hope he got his shit straight at least).

I am mystified as to why the Pads would trade Linebrink for the garbage they got.

Omar doesn't miss a step. JS should be ****ing fired for not swinging a deal to get Linebrink last month. Simply unreal......

The Colorado Rockies have acquired left-hander Jeremy Affeldt and right-hander Denny Bautista from the Kansas City Royals for infielder Ryan Shealy and right-hander Scott Dohmann.

Ummm, wasn't Izturis dealt already?

WTF??? Another year of KC Royal prospect rape.

I have no idea what the Yankees are gonna do with all these bats. All I know is that our meager bench of the last 3 years has finally been replenished. You'll have Cairo, Phillips, Bernie, Melky, Craig Wilson, and Fasano. Holy shit, nice bench! Then we have the questionables of Shef and Matsui and Cano. This is sick!

Hopefully our pen will look something like this:

Vallone
Proctor
Ponson
Farnsworth

I dunno, was he traded today? I've been busy as hell at work so I havent followed the day's happenings.. but I dont see a story about it on the Yahoo page and he was certainly on the Dodgers yesterday -- he won the game for us.

Small is cooked.
We should call up Steven White and give him a shot.

Is he? Wasn't there some mention that he pitched really well recently? He'd be great to have as a long guy if he can just hit his spots.

Dan (Boston)
Is there anything remotely resembling a plan in Pittsburgh? To turn all of those bullpen arms and their positional depth into Xavier Nady, Shawn Chacon, and an unremarkable prospect pitcher seems like strikes one, two and three.

GARY GILLETTE
The plan in Pittsburgh seems to change by the month. I think they made weak deals overall, but that's pretty much their recent track record despite a few good moves they pulled off.
:lol

BRIAN CASHMAN = ANY GM WITH OVER 1/4 BILLION DOLLAR PAYROLL TO WORK WITH

Because no other team could've absorbed his contract and/or parted with better prospects than the Yankees!

Because no one else signing deals for other players is using the revenue sharing money they get from the Yankees out of their luxury taxes!

The Yankees added Abreu, Wilson and Lidle for essentially Chacon and filler.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCKERS

ESPN said the deal is done so who to belive??

Yeah, they brought it up, Keith Law talked about the whole thing....and that was like 15 minutes ago, and it hasn't been mentioned since.

Way to go, ESPN!

Ok so what is the Cubs starting five rotation now?

Big Z, Prior, Marmol, Hill, and uhh...uhhhhhhh...

Ummmmmm.....

Is MVP Rusch going to make his triumphant return to the starting rotation?!?!
