And yet here in California you have people calling into sports radio asking "why is Giambi getting a free ride when Bonds doesn't?" Gee I dunno, maybe because the guy fessed up by admitting to what he did without making a mockery of the situation for starters?

Come on, Giambi's "apology" was pretty pathetic. "I apologize." Yeah? For what? You mean for being a cheating, flithy roider?

The only reason Giambi doesn't get shit like Bonds is because he doesn't act like a total asshole all of the time, and he isn't approaching the most sacred record in all of baseball.

Not to be a hater but can we see a replay of that last out? :lol

Honestly, I'd swear he at least tied that. You could tell the fielder was really nervous and had to take his time throwing that. I'm watching the replay of the last out on espn.com and it's insanely close. Just imagine if he called him safe though. I wouldn't even be able to watch what would unfold.

Just noticed that D Lowe is 7-1 in his last 8 decisions since he had that horrific month starting at the end of June. Good shit. :D Hopefully Penny can become the NL's first 16-game winner tonight.. nice to see Derek move into a tie for second in wins.

Oh shit, Marlins had a no-hitter? Back in the wild card race? Where's my Marlins cap? :lol I really have one...somewhere...in Miami. Go team go! PEACE.

Mets Vs Dodgers, Damn I'm so Freakeeeeeeeen excited about this series. :)

I'm reaaaaaallly nervous :-\ Mets get a sweep (pretty good chance of that happening), and Padres win at least 2 out of 3, and it's Padres in 1st place in the West. Bah! I don't want that, but who is going to bail the Dodgers out? Do I have to root for the Giants? *barf*

Penny has been horrible at Shea Stadium during his career, going just 1-7 with a 6.28 ERA in nine career starts there. He is 3-9 with a 5.84 ERA in 15 career games against the Mets, his most losses against any opponent.

and

Glavine has won his last four starts against Los Angeles, and is 4-1 with a 4.02 ERA in five starts while with the Mets.

Oh well. :-(

"Hold on to your butts."

Holy crap, Lo Duca struck out? I don't know what to believe anymore.

EDIT - No, I'm in South Florida these days, but I'm originally from Brooklyn. My family are Mets-converts after the Dodgers left for LA, but there's still that linger, you know?

3 run in the park home run for Reyes. With a little help from Kemp ofcourse but I'm not complaining. Damn Reyes is fast.

Reyes drops a popper and the crowd cheers at Shea, its that kind of game.:lol

Mets' offense- Galvanized.
Dodgers' O- Glavine-ized.

EDIT: "(BLANK) is going to hit 20 HR and drive in 80 runs from a high spot in the order... While hitting .300... and stealing more than 60 bases... and scoring more than 120 runs... and hitting possibly 20 triples, 30 doubles and slugging over .480 and an OBP around .360"

Those are MVP-like numbers there. Guess who the person discussed is.

Atleast Hamusack has lost the suck. When will the Dodgers start packing their offense with them on road trips?
They're just been Glavine-nized, man!!

PUT IT IN THE BOOKS!!!

Back-to-back shoutouts! 25 consecutive scoreless innings!!

Mets Magic Number at 7!

I honestly thought this game would be close. I don't think it should have been 7 runs on the board, more like 3 or 4 but a win is a win.

John Maine tomorrow,I enjoy watching this kid pitch. Thank you Baltimore.:)

Glavine's record up-to-date

REC 13-6
ERA 3.98

Under a 6-man rotation, Glavine will get 3 more starts. If he wins out and lowers the ERA to about 3.5, that may be Cy Young material there.

Willie seems to pull him out early nowdays though. The more innings he pitches the better the ERA would pan out. Has there ever been a pitcher that has won the cy young with 16 wins? Thats sorta pushing it.

He'll be this decade's Kenny Lofton. I can't believe those numbers. Just nuts.

Uhhh...

C Carpenter (13-6) 2.97 ERA, 158 K
B Webb (14-6) 3.14 ERA, 148 K
C Zambrano (14-6) 3.50 ERA, 188 K

What avatar bet did you lose, siamesedreamer? I don't remember you making one, aside from maybe the Mets winning 100 games, which hasn't happened yet.

See MAY BE Cy Young material. Zambrano I heard before was hurt, Webb and Carpenter obviously would have to tank. And you can add 15-8 Brad Penny to that list.

if the white sox get hot the last 2 weeks im gonna be pissed.

What's funny is we finish the season with a series against Minnesota, so as long as the Twins also keep playing playing under .500 we're still gonna have a chance to overtake them.

Has Mike Hargrove been fired yet?

The way he's managed the Mariners this year, I'm pretty sure he's one of those weapons of mass destruction the government is looking for. Send him to Guantanimo!

Them winning 100 is a forgone conclusion.

After the two Met pitchers with 5.50+ ERAs stuck it up the Braves asses, I decided to give in and recognize the Mets for what they are - the new NL Overlords (regardless of how it was achieved).

Looking at the players in the last 10 years the White Sox drafted but didn't said makes me want to kill mysef:

Placido Polanco
Eric Gagne
Chad Bradford
J.J. Putz
Nate Robertson (twice)
Jeff Weaver

**** you for not signing, Robertson

You're just giving in? Do you realize how empty that makes this victory feel?

Well, I'll show you. Here's to hoping the Mets don't win 100 games just to make you look foolish.

My logic is flawless.

Hell, I hope Mets don't clinch division until their next homestand (only 3 games left in this one) so it can be '86 all over . . .

"Ground ball to second! Backman . . . to Hernandez! The . . . unbelievable season is not over . . . but the championship is here in New York!"
