Yankee? I'd give it to Frank Thomas before I gave it to a Yankee this year :lol

:lol :lol :lol You really don't know about baseball. If Ortiz, a DH like Frank, didn't win it last year, and won't win it this year, there is no way in hell Thomas wins it. I also am a huge Thomas fan. Best White Sox player in history.
Really, not to be a condescending prick, but a DH winning the MVP is unheard of, and Oritz is leagues above Thomas in that category.

But like I said if a Yankee were to win it, Jeter is deserving.
The Tigers problem is that they don't have one huge guy that is clutch/has outstanding stats(though I wish Craig Monroe was kneecapped), so that leaves the Twins, and Morneau is a beast.

Nobody in the Yankees lineup should be named MVP. That lineup is far too ridiculous for you to single out any player. Gabe Kapler might be able to hit .300 in that Yankee lineup.

Tom Brady could bat .666, I bet. (Where's bionic when you need him?)

Eh, I kind of agree, but there aren't a lot of options among play-off teams outside of Morneau IMO.
Yankees lineup is great all around, so Jeter would be OK with me. But what else is there?

Tigers really have no huge stat fiends. Same with Oakland, and even though Big Frank had a great year, he's no MVP. Especially with Ortiz not winning.

So it's "Reputation + good year Jeter" over the more deserving Morneau.

He does not tread on the holy ground of the MLB thread.

And if Tom Brady can bat .666, John Henry should break the bank to bring him on board. He's a winner! With intangibles!

Maybe they should give Santana an MVP award to go along with his second Cy Young.

I'd have no problem with that, but when it comes to the voters, the last pitcher to win MVP was Clemens in I wanna say '87, and he totally puts Santana to shame.
Like I said, I'd be fine with that, but if they're gonna not take a DH out of precedent, then Santana shouldn't get it.

Well the A's have failed to clinch the division three days in a row, I smell another ALDS meltdown!

Don't get my hopes up like that!

In any case that last series will be fun to watch, even if the Halos are shut out of the playoffs before it starts. I might see if I can get to the game on 9/28. :D

The Twins' Ron Gardenhire and the White Sox' Ozzie Guillen seem to agree on many issues. Last week, on the Twins' latest road trip, Gardenhire was lamenting the rules that prevent him from casting Gold Glove votes for his players.

"It's ridiculous that my coaches and me have to vote for someone other than Luis Castillo for the Gold Glove at second base," Gardenhire said. "He's the best in the league, and it's not close."

Guillen told Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune that he was going to be proactive in trying to assist his third baseman, Joe Crede.

"I'm going to vote for the worst guy on the field, so my guy is one vote ahead," Guillen said. "That's the way people should do it. I will vote for Batista. I will vote for him so Chavez doesn't get [another vote]."

Tony Batista was released by the Twins in mid-June. Ozzie wants Crede to beat Oakland's Eric Chavez, the annual favorite to win the award.

:lol :lol :lol :lol

Hopefully there won't be any significance to the last series, other than getting Harden's pitch count to 90+

EDIT

And Guillen's a douche. Eric Chavez deserves the gold glove, yet again. He's putting on a clinic every time he's at 3rd, and even Punto's taking notes.

He's Cloudy-- defender of all pro atheletes who have endured scrutiny from the media and fans! If all Yankee fans and the media embrace A-Rod, then Cloudy just might go away.

I still don't get why Jeter is even being pushed as a contender. Sure, he has a solid batting average and 32 stolen bases, but is there anything aside from those that really stick out? He's not much different than he's been in the last few years overall, except he has about 20-30 more RBIs this yeare than he has in the last few seasons, but even then, his RBI numbers aren't anything better than "good."

I don't see what's so spectacular about what he's done this year that warrants an MVP candidacy. If anything, the Twins should have two guys in the MVP race; Santana and Morneau, and Jeter shouldn't even be a footnote.

Santana doesn't deserve the MVP based on the precedent set by the previous pitchers to win MVP. Compared to the last guy to do it, Clemens, Santana didn't have a good enough year.

Hello? INTANGIBLES?

It isn't the MVP this year. It's the Derek Jeter Lifetime Achievement Award.

Well, FIELDING wise, there's no one better than Everett. That includes Mr. Intangibles. I'm going to be ****ing pissed if they give the GG to Omar Vizquel again this year.

intangibles my ass. Since when does the media give a shit about intangibles? The reason why Jeter is in the MVP race is because the east coast media machine has been too busy tearing A-rod apart at every possible moment this season. However, since the Yankees may possibly have the best record in the MLB at the end of the season, they have to push for a Yankee to be MVP, and since they've already destroyed A-Rod, the next best choice is Jeter, since he's in the batting title race and all.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire routinely plays practical jokes on his players, including summoning outfielder Lew Ford into his office for an apparently serious meeting. Instead, Gardenhire asked Ford to trade a quarterback with him in their fantasy football league.

:lol :lol :lol awesome

B to the G to the O

sac fly :D

AE rbi single :o

You my friend are no Konex. There are no players the media hates on the Astros. (Except maybe Clemens, but even then, they secretly love him)

Astros are a Konex free zone.
