Season of the injury so far in the NHL. It doesn't help when you have dumbasses like this:

Man Games Lost To Injury (Recorded Nov 20th)

That was from a few weeks ago, I am sure it is worse now.

Well anyway, Lets Go Pens!

Hockey is dead to me until the Whalers are revived. I miss those GREEN uniforms.

Anyway, why did that guy hit his own goalie?

So he learns to stop the puck!!

nuck's leading the way baby! I think edmonton is waaay ahead now.
Meh month for the canucks. It's time to turn it up this month.

He was trying to hit the post and missed.

Predictable that a Panther would a) aim for the post and b) miss. Only surprise is that it hit the goalie instead of the glass. But of course that's more likely than it hitting the back of the net.

It was posted at the end of the other thread, but it needs to be mentioned again that Marc Savard signed a 7-year contract extension with the Bruins today for only a $4.2M cap hit per year.

Deal of the year? This guy has bought into the system, has made huge improvements in his game over the years to become a three-zone player, and re-signed with the team at basically a bargain price (compared to what he would've been offered in the off-season).

This guy just wants to win. He is the anti-Kessel.

Does Paul Kariya still play? My favorite all-time hockey moment is when Gary Suter checked that twat into next week after Kariya held out at the start of the season. It was glorious.

Yes.

The NHL announced Tuesday that Washington Capitals' forward Alexander Ovechkin has been suspended two games as the result of a knee-on-knee collision with Tim Gleason of the Carolina Hurricanes Monday night in a 3-2 Washington victory.

Only 2 games.

edit: beaten. I think Ovie should have gotten a longer suspension. He's not a first time offender anymore. But atleast the NHL finally suspended a star-player.

Yeah, great deal. But at the same time he's 32 and probably has his best years behind him, especially now that he doesn't have a goalscorer like Kessel to give the puck to.

You got to outright murder someone to get more then two games. Colin Campbell needs to step down already.

Two games for his second major infraction in a less than a month. Laughable. I assume these two games will conveniently take place while he's day-to-day resting his knee.

good on the Ovie suspension... No one should be above the rules of the league. He should have gotten suspended when he did that same crap on Gonchar last spring. I also sort of like the mantra of suspending a player for the same length of time an injury keeps out an opposing player that was hurt.

Am I the only one here that thinks Ballard should still get a 1 year suspension for what he did to Vokoun (even if it wasn't an opposing player). I think the NHL shouldn't let this one slip away, cause it will be a pr nightmare if they let him get off with nothing.

And no, I'm not Colin Campbell in disguise, I'm just contributing to a similar theme today on suspensions....

Its a completely useless suspension as he is day to day anyway. Should have been longer.

What do you suspend him with. Its an incident on his own teammate. He will punished internally by the panthers instead.

Two games for AO is exactly what I expected. That boarding hit was laughable and even Lindy Ruff agreed that he didn't deserve a suspension for it. Pull up the video to see the hit for yourself.

How do Ovie's balls taste today? More sweet than salty?

The OVIE suspension sets the stage for later when he pulls this crap again. This one is BS, but he has to get his mugshot recorded first, which has been delayed way too far since he is a star.

I think the NHL needs to make Ballard an example. You can't just let this slip away. He deliberately did the motions with his stick in a careless fashion. He even hit the dude, had to have know he hit something, then went back for a second wack.

If the NHL does nothing, the Panthers need to dismiss him from their team. I would feel the same way if it was Sergei Gonchar doing it on the Pens.... You just can't be stupid like that as a player.

Edit: Well turns out Vokoun is completely fine and it was a mistake. I think an internal fine is the most that should happen. He will get enough shit and torment from teammates anyway. He knows what he did was wrong.

I agree I just dont see what you suspend him with. I think it needs to be an internal suspension and fine.

I'm in line with this thinking. I really don't see how the NHL can suspend a player for committing an action against his own team, in a total freak accident. If anything, the team should make the player take a couple of anger management classes and fine him for being a poor representative for the organization.

Uh, he was frustrated and it was an accident, he didn't *want* to hit the guy in the head with the stick.

You would feel the same way if someone on our team, say - mark eaton , did that to MAF?

I would want Eaton off the squad myself... Give the roster spot to a deserving minor leaguer looking for a shot or something...

How the hell do the rest of the team even interact with that guy anymore? It would cause turmoil in the locker room for sure...

So nice to start the month on top of the division again. Rough November for the blue and gold... here's hoping December is better.

GO SABRES

I agree with one of the comments made there that the refs at least need to start handing out unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for that kind of thing. It's really unacceptable behavior, regardless of hitting someone or not.

...I believe this is the first post I've ever made in one of these threads, even though I've lurked them for awhile now :P

Hope December is as nice to the Preds as November was.

Here's to another month of Sharks/Hawks-age docking sessions and shitty Pens pictures

State your team affiliation please and make your first ballwashing comment of a player.

Edit: oh it's Tampa, carry on.

Then fucking waive him. This can be handled internally.

Jeez... make it stop. I saw Jeff Finger shaking his head. :lol

edit: And we're off! Game's about to start. I'm pumped! I hope Komisarek has a great game. Let's go Komi.

Yes, let's trot out and honor the champs of a sport nobody gives two fucks about. Actually I love seeing cfl players cause most of them make less money than I do and have 2nd jobs. Blue collar baby!!
