After a disappointing season 4 I have high hopes for season 5 in Los Angeles.

Spoilerfix.com has some episode summaries.

FXnetworks.com has some exclusive video clips for Season 5.

Premiere is October 30th.

"Overall, I think fans are really going to be excited about this season. It's different but not so much that it'll scare people away. The air of celebrity that surrounds the show now makes it far more enticing to watch and the moral dilemmas that are presented as Sean and Christian try to figure out the best way to market themselves will enrage and delight you at the same time."

"The problem with Nip and Tuck is the execution. The episode moves at a pace of a drunk turtle, and the occasionally spurts of comedy can’t hide the foolish dialogue and mediocre performance by some of the actors. The content could have easily been compressed into half an hour without feeling rushed. Instead, it plods along with too much filler and distraction."

"Given the various directions creator Ryan Murphy has previously taken the show (not all of which have been particularly entertaining to watch), this is a most welcome change of pace. However, it is anyone's guess whether "Nip/Tuck" will continue along this enjoyable, humorous path or veer back into darker, albeit more familiar, territory."

"While not entirely rebounding to top form, a change of venue has helped "Nip/Tuck" get much of its mojo back. For the most part, though, a series that had become rather joyless is, again, a lot of fun."

"So far, this is one smart move."
B+ rating.

This season is going to be in two parts, right?
Hopefully it won't be anything like the awful season 4 and be just as good as season 2.

Did they reveal who the nemesis is? The carver\Ava plot was excellent. The 4th season was very good hearted and sterile compared to the twisted plots of Ava and the carver.

after the "meh" S3 and the abysmal S4, I don't have any anticipation left for where this fucking series will go....but I'll still check it out just in case.....

....at least Peter Gabriel can finally rest

Yeah hopefully it returns to the quality of Season 2 (some of the best TV I've seen). I swear, watching Season 2 finale's last 5 minutes is just...WOW.

I agree, season 1 and 2 were fantastic. 3 and 4 just got lost in shock value. In their attempts to push the envelope, they lost sight of what made the show so attractive to begin with... the unique, and tragically flawed characters. The Carver was interesting at first, and it brought in viewers, but it ultimately pushed the show from engaging and raw to over the top and disconnected.

can someone wrap up what happened in the last two seasons?

Season 3: Carver, Threesomes, Emo-Matt Becomes a racist, Kimber and Christian Plan to get Wed.

Season 4 is fresher in my mind:

Season 4: Kimber and Matt involved, Kimber is a Scientologist no more porn for her, Rosie O'donnel, Business is sold, Prostitution/organ stealing/extortion/asian mafia/Affair plot, Sean has a disfigured child, Escobar's return and
demise
, Julia has an affair with a dwarf who was hired as the baby sitter.

I'm sorry, but was there any point at which this show wasn't completely "over the top"? And even looking at the elements that weren't over the top -- were they really any good? Did you give that much of a shit about Sean's obnoxious family?

Yeah, yoe really can't say that the show has ditched the notion of reality altogether--it was never even there to begin with. Need I mention the phrase "Hope Diamond of transsexuals?"

But yes, border, seasons 1 and 2 are fun. I wouldn't call them revelatory television or anything, but the mix of transgression and ridiculousness kept me coming back, especially during season 2, which was especially crazy. Unfortunately, season 2 pushed things so close to the edge that in order to meet expectations, they had to jump off that edge during season 3 , and to me, the show just degenerated into stupidity. I haven't watched season 4, or even all of 3. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons and I really don't need to see the show go on for like, 2 and a half seasons longer.

I thought Ava was supposed to be Adrian's mom but showing incest on cable tv was too much to get approved. What do you do then? make her a man with the most unbelievable story and watch nip/tuck fans eat it up because we're stupid.
Though, honestly, season 3 wasn't that bad. Matt's story was pretty good actually. The carver was the over the top part of the season. The only problem with season 3 is that the one before it was just so amazing. Season 1 isn't that much better than 3, but it was just the one before the best season so people expected less of it.
Season 4 though.. that was simply not nip/tuck. Anything that isn't like season 4 will automatically be better.

edit: did anyone else notice that the better the music in a certain season is, the better the season? I just remembered that there were no good songs in season 4 except for everything in it's right place. season 2 had plenty of good songs (and 1, than 3)

I have blanked out the rest of S4 past Sean's babysitter. God I hope S5 can get it back to greatness, with no whiney Matt! Say, maybe Annie McNamara will turn up on the operating table, she was barely there in the last two seasons.

I'll be finishing season 3 today. Not sure if I really want to continue. I want to like it, and I want the show to be good, but it just gets screwy too often. The crap with Matt's complete insecurity and his falling in with the neo-nazi family and the transsexual stuff. It just makes me hate him. And then plots like Sean bringing the protected witnesses back to his home... ugh. Yeah, he can be a naive guy, but that's beyond stupid. There also seem to be a lot of plotlines that have been raised in this season and then summarily dropped. Maybe they'll return in these last two episodes I have to watch, but I'm doubting it. The season's kinda all over the place.

I haven't seen season 4 yet, but "Everything in its Right Place was used in season 3.

Um, considering I just couldn't follow Nip/Tuck very much, what season is it, where Troy get's injected botox(?) and cut by the serial killer? How does this continue?

Love the Adan Stone/Christian Troy juxtaposition. Bradley Cooper <3

i was really genuinely surprised at how little i missed julia or matty in this episode. i expected them both to be big losses, but after watching this, it was evident to me that the show had become mired in its own seriousness. this definitely brought the fun back
