It is low, but missing a million wouldn't be completely unprecedented just from the Thanksgiving week sales. Nintendo said the DS 653K record beat what GBA did two years ago: 600K. However, it didn't even make 900K for the month; that week in particular was that much higher than the rest, presumably due to special Black Friday deals. I doubt that's the case here with DS, though.

Well, more context is needed. What did the GBA do that October / December? What was its average monthly sales for the first half of the year? I think if you compare those numbers to the 2007 DS numbers, it'd be pretty unlikely for that scenario to repeat itself.
