Official 'Samurai Champloo' thread

Anyone rip the OP and ED? I'm trying to hold off on downloading but I'd like to at least get a little taste of the show beyond the :30 trailer on the official site...
 
Does there really need to be an "Official" thread? Surely there won't be 20 people starting Samurai Champloo threads.
 
So which group has done the best job on subbing SC?
I've watched the subs by bakafish and Aoi.

Aoi was okay, but wich one should I download from now on?
 
I didnt like the second episode as much..it was kinda slow and pointless.

I'll keep watching though, the animation is great.

Im used to getting in late on these series and being able to watch the whole thing at once, being in from the start and having to wait a week for new episodes kinda diminishes the experience.

I have the ending theme, and an extra one... no opening theme though. :(
 
Unfortunately no, I found the mp3s off of the anime music newsgroups.

only had a chance to watch the first episode, but it's got my attention thus far.

I'll watch ep 2 when I get home from work tonight.
 
AonE's version of episode 2 (and episode 1 for that matter) has been out for a couple of days now and is quite good.

This week's episode was really toned down compared to the first one. Not bad, just a bit more "traditional."


Oh, and post #1. Yay!
 
I really liked the shot of the fireworks going off in the first episode. High production values are obvious, hopefully this series will pan out.
 
did anyone else have problems with aoi's ep 2?

also can someone explain to me why people are using xvid more and more? I redid their version with divx and (I think) my version is equal visually and mine has a smaller file size =\
 
I don't know about quality of animation dropping but the fight between Jin and the Assassin was just awesome.

As long as fansubs go, I recommend Kraze's and onE's version the best. You can't go wrong with either one.
 
what I meant was that alomost every figure was outlined in black (like cel-shading) that wasn't apparent in the first episode.

I just hope the story gets better cause the 2nd episode sucked.
 
Bebop had some comparatively crappy episodes too.

And I personally liked AnimeForever the best for the first episode, but since they have yet to release a version of episode 2, AonE is the way to go for that (AonE also did by far the best job of integrating their credits into the opening).
 
Aone, AnimeForever, and Anime-kraze are all good groups.

Aoi, on the other hand, I heared had connections from the infamous Anime-junkies. BakaFish is not bad but their focus is a speedy release and with so much anime to watch, I think I can wait extra for a better quality sub. I still have not watched episode two; I'm watching FLCL right now which is giving me a monster headache. Just one more episode to go through and I'll be done with it. whew.

If you can handle it/liked it enough the first time around, you should try to watch FLCL a second time through. Believe it or not, it will actually make sense the second time through. :)

Woot is like a celebratory "Yes!".

Think of it as a derivative of the old rap stand noise that accompanies "rasing the roof",
 
Just watched AF-F's version of episode 2. It didn't suck, but it was really predictable. My favorite scene was
the first exchange of attacks between Jin and the assassin.
Great stuff.
 
Yeah this episode was pretty bland.. It didn't have any of the style of the first ep. Without the style, the show is average..
 
2nd episode was basically filler. Which wouldn't a bad thing if it wasn't such dull filler. And the recurring character they introducd (the old assassin) is ho hum at best. I mean the fight with him and Jin wasn't even good.
 
hmm... I thought the second ep is still preety cool. Was the first episode that good it raised too high of everbody's expectation? :p
 
second one was OK, i just think they shouldnt loose steam this early into the series, the first few episodes must keep up the potential of the pilot...but the second episode didnt. it wasnt a bad episode per se, but this sort of an episode should be in the middle somewhere. didnt really advance the story or anything.
 
yeah but every anime has a boring beginning, especially beserk.

the only in which I loved the opening arc was kenshin.

Yeah, so it's gonna be up to ep3 now. If ep3 is like ep2 that will not be good >_<

hmm, t-20 mins till ep3 aquiring finishes :)
 
I've downloaded the first episode to see what all the hype was about and boy oh boy did it suck.

I got the AonE one and the translation was just plain horrible unless it is really horrible to begin with.

Two thumbs down.
 
SAMURAI SHAMPOOO! Honest question, why do some of the characters look black? Some of them (specifically the gag lead by the dude with Akuma beads around his neck) are darker-skinned with 'black' features (big lips, round noses). Any explanation?
 
Can someone repost the link to the torrent site (it was some IRC channels site) that someone posted on Old gaf? I upgraded firefox and lost all my bookmarks in the process..

I'm so damn pissed. I got through 140MB of a 197MB first episode of this show and the fucking torrent wont work anymore >:(

I keep getting this message: "Rejected by tracker - Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker."

Why would this happen all of a sudden, mid way through the torrent when it was working fine all the time before. Is there any way I can fix it or at least view what I've downloaded so far? I click on the avi file and I get an error. :(

Bittorent downloads random parts of a file so I don't think you can view what you've downloaded. There are some preview programs I think but you can't "watch" the file. When it says you got 50% for example, that's not the first 50% of the file.

Try resuming the torrent several times today. What version is it? check the group's website/channel and see if they moved to another tracker. You can also resume if your'e d/ling the same file from irc.. so check the group's channel and download the same file to the same directory and folder.
