official shadow of the colossus site

The music is absolutely beautiful. Definitely one of the highlights of the game and it fits the theme of the game wonderfully. Great wallpapers on that site too.

Kô Ôtani is fucking GOD. Also...the menu music goes straight into the theme of intro we've seen so far...leading me to believe that the intro is actually longer than we have seen...

Oh fuck I can't wait for this game. I'd pay 100 bucks to have it right now in my hands.

Beautiful? yes

Haunting? Absolutely

Melancholy? Yep.

But if you click on the horse on the front page, the movie clip it shows does look like its yosemite sam's horse, sliding along with its legs like that :P

I didnt know who this guy was until I read the OPM review that he did the Sky Odyssey soundtrack. As if I didnt need another reason to hype this game up.

Heh...the only Kô Ôtani work I've listened to is his SotC stuff. But that's enough to qualify him as god... :P ...so so so good. Well, I've listened to a couple of tracks from the animes he's worked on. Pretty nice too.

And...GAH! I hope SCEA doesn't market this game as some sort of "artistic masterpiece from the creators of ICO"(although it looks like they already are...idiots!), or it will face the same sales numbers that other artistic masterpiece got. I think this game has plenty of mass market appeal, with the emphasis on action it has...but they have to market it right, damnit. Blah. I hope it sells...Fumito Ueda needs to get unlimited budgets for next-gen. :P

OMG! That is such a kick ass game website. I cannot wait for this game, it's going to be awesome. Seriously, fuck next gen. I'm going to be happy with this and Katamari alone.

Such a nice website. SCEA's websites have been really great and imaginative lately, with GoW and now this.

The trick they used to animate the sky on that dark blue scenery is so nicely thought out...

click on the logo at top right and select areas on the map for more awesome music :)
On each page you visit, you can also click on objects, like horse for example, to see some small popup videos.

Keep on clicking through on those and as more stuff lights up follow them all the way through for a couple surprises :)

I have seen the mammoth and knight colusssus before but that minotaur colussus is new for me

I dont think Ico had much of a marketing campaign at all so any commercial push would be a step up. :)

That said from the sounds of it SotC is just as esoteric as Ico, if not more so. In fact it may even be more divisive. They've thrown out a lot of gaming convention to see their vision through thats going to turn a good chunk of gamers off. I say fuck 'em, but Im praying it gains enough of a cult status that they sell enough to keep these guys in business.

Hmm, when you click the bottom portion of the map
I think I see the yorda-moveable statues from ICO on the cliff peeking out?

The OPM review says that SotC is actually less accessable than Ico.

Yeah, thats the impression I got. Its a puzzle game at heart, even more than Ico was, and the Colossi are basically giant living stages you have to solve. Apparently some have a real chance of stumping you as well which could be a tedious experience for those used to having straight forward action gameplay. Combine that with no conventional combat, exploration for exploration's sake, and apparently storytelling and characterization thats even more minamalist than Ico and I could see a lot of people being turned off, even among the GAF crowd.

All of this shit is music to my ears though. :)

Do they actually say that? They just said the controls are more difficult, which is not surprising give the game's unique action aspect.

This sparse, unresolved story is going to drive some players utterly batty, but it's only one example of the fact that Shadow is most definitely not a game for everyone. ... Rather than the predecessor's stark point A to point B simplicity, Shadow is comparitively complex, from its more intricate controls to its occasionally unintuitive battles...it's much more overwhelming than the demands found in Ico are. ...Ico is, in my estimation, a notably superior experience. I think Shadow's steeper learning curve isgoing to turn some players off fairly quickly.

Thanks for increasing my anticipation even more, as if I needed it :D

That reviewer can go screw himself. Also WTF at "unresolved story"? Did you just spoil the game for me you little bitch?

Yeah, that comment kinda sucked. Then again, did you really expect it to be all clearly explained anyways? I sure didn't after Ico, which also had pretty much unresolved story.

It just says it's as vague as Ico, as far as story. Which is one of the reasons I liked Ico.

Yeah, read the review in context he wasnt really dissing it as much as making the comparison. Ueda's created these self-contained fantasy worlds and the events that happen in them are more or less experienced rather than explained with plot and characters, so you're sort of left to make your own assertions about the who and the why. At least thats what I think he was getting it. That type of storytelling isn't everyones cup of tea.

It's nice to know that they actually put some time into making the site. The music is really good, too.

The wallpapers on the site are pretty sweet, but they still can't beat the Japanese site's ones:

Those are hideous. Looks like Andy Warhol puked on them or something.

You have to be kidding. The retarded background color ruins the pictures.

site doens't run well on a 450mhz computer

Yeah, it's a bit slow for me too (also on a 450 MHz processor here), but it's a site worth visiting if you're looking forward to this game. I just spent a good half hour or so fiddling around and checking out the site, enjoying the artwork and the music, and downloading lots of free desktop wallpaper and a new AIM buddy icon (which went right into Trillian for me).

Thanks to acklame for providing the link!

Man, this game is gonna CLEAN UP at the Spike TV Videogame Awards!!

I am a sad clown.

SotC is far and away my most anticipated game. Nice website.
