Official Tomb Raider: Anniversary Thread

Game works great with my Logitech Rumble Pad 2. Except I can't turn on the rumble in the options menu.

Also supports my monitors native res of 1440 X900.

PC version get i think.

+1 Wii edition. The Godfather controls Ubisoft, please steal them.
There's no date, it will cost more and might look the same. Why do you have so much faith that the controls will work? I'm just getting the PS2 one.

Also what's up with the Ubisoft comment? edit. beaten

No 360

Was thinking about PSP version, but now I see how gorgeous it looks in 1920x1200 I may change my mind. And I cant believe how fun the demo is.

Urp, but of course I meant Eidos.

Why do I want the Wii version? I don't own a PS2, sorry.

I don't know for certain that the controls will work well , which is why I want them to steal The Godfather control scheme(It does work and it works really, really well). And besides all of that, what difference does it honestly make what system I want it for? They announced a Wii version, and I want it to rock.

You're missing out.
unless you got disc read errors too

The system you want it for is irrelevent to me, I simply assumed that you'd own a PS2.

Why the **** is this not being made for the 360 or PS3? I just don't get that.

I'd say it's a hint that there's a "proper" next-gen version in the works to be announced soon and they don't want a last-gen port to hinder its appeal or confuse gamers with two quick releases. If they haven't shown a new TR title for the new machines by August, I'll eat a marmite sandwich.

I've had one in the house at various times thanks to roommates, but never personally owned one. Even if I did(and I might get one to play FFXII), I would still want the Wii version. Same with Manhunt 2.

It looks like they changed Lara to make her look more like Angelina Jolie. Just look at those lips.

Lara has always had big lips. However, the story does seem more like the movies storyline. The original story of Lara was that she was in a plane crash and this created a sort of desire to explore and she no longer wanted an arranged marriage, but rather wanted to explore and be free on her own. She was disowned by her family and took up writting as a means to fund herself.

The new story made in Legend and now Anniversary is that she was in loving terms with her family and lost both her mother and father quite tragically. Lara also seems to be softer then her original form. The original Lara was quite psychotic and could be seen carrying cut off heads.

Sure hope so.

I think imma just download the demo and have fun with that for now, and then cross my fingers and hope that they'll announce a 360 port in July at E3. I'd hate to play through the whole game and then find out that they've got an upgraded version for next-gen systems right around the corner.

Does anyone know the PC requirements for the game? I've got an old ATI 200 card and a sweet 360 PC pad set to go. It'll probably be cheaper too I imagine? If not then I'll go with the PS2 version and upscale it to HD,which is just as good.

Here, here is some original art for Lara. You can see she had big lips then.

and here is the one showing her carrying heads. Surely not the same Lara as the one we know today in Legends and Anniversary.

Definitely an improvement, I'd say.

I would have to agree. They made her nose a bit bigger and more natural and softened the lines of her face and also made her hair line softer and not pulled back so taut. They also decreased her bust although she still retains her large breast it just looks more natural and softer now. They also widened her waist again adding for more realism. Yet she still looks like Lara. Fantastic.

Does it burn? :lol

Well, it's not so much getting burned as it is puzzling. The Legends tech was great, and it's going to be harsh going backwards (note that I am playing the PC version, so it's effectively the same thing, a step back, for me).

DLing the demo now. I'm kinda pissed about the graphical downgrade from Legend, though.

I really don't think you will mind it much. I mean Anniversary is beautiful. It's so lush and full, Legend was nice but it lacked the lushness that Anniversary has in abundance.

yeah I really miss the SMS 3.0 :(

But this game is still 100% awesome! I really like how Lara stays wet for a while after you go for a swim

(Jpeg compression blah blah)

I hope they don't screw up the story and the voice acting in this game. I am surprised there aren't any story scenes in the demo. Did the original focus on gameplay over story?

All I am thinking is how the next Lara game is going to be in the shadows of Uncharted.

They're going to have to pull something out of her cleveage.

The original had cut scenes and FMV and a coherent enough story. I felt it had a good mix of both gameplay and story. Just keep in mind Anniversary is more subtle then Legend. Lara doesn't have her high-tech gadgets. Like in the note to fans, they focused on the isolation that was so prevalent in the original.

Definitely gameplay.

What's with her nose in that screen?:lol

Of course the game is awesome, it's Tomb Raider 1 after all, the only Tomb Raider that is awesome (level design FTW).

It's a weird effect, one I noticed in other games that have water rippling effects. You will notice her arms/face/ect will ripple just like the water if you get the camera angle just so.

Any release date on the Wii version?

Any reviews, for that matter?

Gamefaqs has it simply as:

Tomb Raider: Anniversary Eidos Interactive TBA 2007 US

Damn, I might get the Wii version if the controls are good. If not, PS2 version all the way.

A comparison for anyone interested. Both are taken from the same area and the angle was reproduced in each image.

Here is the original (PSX)

Here is the new

Midna-thanks for the PC specs.

Well I tried the demo and my graphics card chokes quite abit while playing it even on the lower settings. I was warned about getting such a great deal on this PC,mainly because the graphics card is its bad point. Eh,I can live with that since I don't game much on this machine outside of emulators.

I'll pick up the PS2 version instead.
How much is it gonna retail for?

Just played with the demo a little. Looks great. The lack of SM3 didn't even bug me that much, but it is puzzling since it appears to be using the same gameplay engine. Oh well. Day one purchase, on PC, for me.

This is a GREAT remake.

For those of you who have played it: what is music and sound effects like?

One of the things that made TR1 so great was how they only used music sparingly, and when they used it, it was a very nice mood piece. Legends on the other hand had a lot of techno-ish stuff all throughout which kind of ruining the immersion in some places.

I don't get it, either.

I damn well hope it's coming out for the 360, at least. God, it'd be a crime if it didn't.

Why do I get the feeling they're going to try to charge $49.99 for the Wii version? :(

It doesn't seem to be.

It's the same soundtrack as TR1, I believe.
