The videos that came up around TGS had a very nice sense of speed. Unless they for some strange reason toned that down there really isn't anything to complain about in that department from what's been shown in videos. It was actually one of the things I stuck out most about the demo vids.

Is F1 1080p? That might explain why it looked great in the TGS videos but very average on my ~720p set.

There is a damage ON/OFF switch, but the damage doesn't feel on the fly like Burnout or Forza 2 where you never know what's going to break off. It feels more like damage in games from 4 years ago where you crash super hard into a wall and all that happens is 1 tire rolls off. There seems to be about 4-6 sections of the car that can fall off and that's it. :\

Apparently someone didn't pick up their PS3 that they ordered and called and said they won't be able to get the rest of the money. So I get to take my busted PS3 back and get a (hopefully)working one!

Also saw Phil Harrison taking some photo's of the line.

I doubt it since one of the top dogs at Evolution said that they made a very early choice to go for 720p and stick to it. And since it wasn't long ago the game had fps problems it makes 1080p even more unlikely.
Edit: Cool report Dante. Keep it coming. Hopefully the 1up show will cover this event this week.

Since this is the PS3 thread, I just thought I give my impressions.
Well i finally got to touch the PS3. Despite all the flak that the controller gets, I really liked it. The weight(or lack of) didn't really bother me, I got use to it rather quickly. The triggers kind of caught me off guard at first because I thought they were more like GC triggers. They weren't, but like the weight, I got use to it rather quickly. Overall, I like the new controller. All I played was Motorstorm, it didn't look as nice as it did compared to the videos I saw during Gamer's Day. But it still played well and I enjoyed it. I tried the motion controller and struggled, but it's something I'd like to work on whenever I get a PS3. My favorite part was just navigating through the menus and playing with the video, music, and photos.
I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't have any HD movie trailers in the kiosk I tried. I've already seen HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies on display, I just wanted to see it coming from the PS3 itself. I was also disappointed that they didn't have a Resistance demo or any 3rd party stuff. But overall overall I was impressed. I'm also excited about the Blu-Ray movie capabilities, so that definitely played a part in me wanting a PS3. I won't be getting one at launch, but I'm eager to get one next year when it's more readily available.

I'd renamed the .ts as .mpg so it'd be treated as a PS file but it didn't like the ac3 audio even though it says it supports it. I'll have to spend some time working on that because thats a really useful and simple way of watching HD downloads instead of streaming on the huffy puffy 360. Other files were listed as corrupt data. Seems that DVDs (UDF format if you're using big files) just show up in music/photo/video and you can browse the folder structure, so I don't think you need to put things in special places.
Playstation store - needs some work. Quite often it'd be sitting there not doing anything, and its a bit too internetey to work well with a controller. Not too bad - clearly its been designed with not too many links etc, but not great. Downloading stops you doing anything else, although I did notice a download queue next to the shopping cart, so perhaps you can download more than one thing in the background somehow?
BT headset. I have a Motorola HS801 and it paired up, but when I tested it in the chat settings it just blasted me with a nasty noise and I couldn't get it to go away. I'll try with a Nokia headset next week.
F1 demo - pretty good. mostly just like current F1 console games but in hires. Flat kerbs disappointing on Monza, but Indianapolis had some 3D kerbs so probably just early. Rain graphics very nice, but even though I love F1 as a sport, it just doesn't work for me as a game.
motorstorm - nice but not gobsmacking. Disappointed there wasn't a muddy track, and the dry dusty track was more obviously textured than having 'real' indentations. Crashing is fun the first time, then gets old quickly.
Haven't played any resistance or much RR7 yet but will try over the weekend. Bluray movie testing will have to wait until my Black Hawk Down turns up.

oh yeah was going to mention. I saw my mother today and when I did, she asked if the ps3 was delayed. I said why? she said she saw a news story that sony lied about BC and it doesnt work and people in japan are made. Not sure what channel, but she said it was news from Japan, so msmbc or cnn. Thought it was funny, I know she doesn;t know exactly what was said, but I had heard there were a few overblown stories about BC
And you know why that is too. It's because they all (nearly) plan to get on e-bay and double, or even triple that amount... or more.
Right now, those people are seeing $$$ signs in their heads, and planning on how they will spend the money.
Its going be very interesting to see where prices land when e-bay is hit with 150,000+ PS3 units for sale... Then we can gauge the true demand.
