thanks. i have to re-find adequate photos since i didn't save them. I had some of the images hosted on strangereaction, but that recently closed down so now I have to find something else adequate. i'll try imagesocket :)

Click the little green plus in the upper right corner to upload several pictures at once. It's really useful!

NBA 2k7
Resistance
RR7
Madden 07 (actually just decided on getting it today since my brother said he would go half on it)

And some games still pending, not sure about COD3 (though looking at the new videos it's starting to grow on me), Full Auto 2 looks like a early december title now so I'll wait for the reviews on that), and I'll probably rent Genji and Untold day one.

gotta see what ps1 games they have
but ill most likely get blast factor, and flOw

In december
Motorstorm (really thinking i will import the japan version, hopefully they announce a NA release date so I know my odds on waiting)
Fight Night Round 3
Rainbow Six Vegas (if it does come out in december)

rr7 and genji for me. i don't want to play resistance right after gears -- i doubt it'll come off well in that light. don't kill me sdf.

How's everyone else thinking about what to grab from the line-up?

Resistance and Ridge Racer 7 are the no-brainers for me. My 3000+miles on RRV means I was basically destined to buy this. :lol Beyond that, Motorstorm/VF5 in the far flung future, but my launch day dark horse is Gundam. Not that I'd buy it on a whim, mind you, but giant robots...my front mission sense tingles. Please tell me it's not total trash :(

Now that I think about it, next to motorstorm being imported, I wouldnt mind importing Armored Core either (as long as I can read the menus). Does anybody know the japan date for it?

December 20th

Cool, I'll keep an eye out for it. Hopefully it has english menu's.
ohhh i forgot about AC, that might be another import : )

Well, I still think its going to make Launch, So for me its full auto 2, resistence, and probly blast factor. Im importing MotorStorm too but I wont get this till around the 10th of DEC

Well yeah, lower the level to near basement status, then ease yourself up to Resistance... :lol

I don't think Resistance is going to be a joke of any sort, and, it may just pack a better online punch... it's the systems launch centerpiece, get it, and scratch out Genji... FTLOG...

You know what? I'm thinking about importing it as well now... If it's really THAT good, I'll get it twice... :)

Right now, it's Resistance/RR7/Madden(i don't know why)/CoD3/Untold Legends for me with Oblivion already paid in full for... whenever it launches... freakin' Beth...

Decided to get a different HDMI cable as well after reading some reviews...

If Resistance's online is anything like Up Your Arsenal's (and from the looks of it, nodes and all, it will be), then there's no way I won't be having a blast with it online. But you can't really compare Gears and Resistance. Resistance is more like Call of Duty 2 was last year; it's not graphics pr0n, but it looks damn good, and it's not trying to reinvent the shooter, just be a great one.

Anyway... RR7 seems to becoming more and more tempting--thanks in no small part to IGN's review gauntlet of death.

Resistance for me. Then putting my wallet away for hibernation. Will catch up on the myrad of PS2 titles for the rest of the year.

Don't buy that!! It looks like complete trash!! Buy Armored Core cause it comes out in December in Japan.

The game looks really ridiculous and a league above Gundamn

Yeah, I agree. With this I think its just some random sony employee that posts on the forums like around the time sony has an event. But last Q&A there were some interesting tid bits that came out, so I'm being optimistic about this one.

In other news,
RadiOPM talks PS3
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3150150
http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/Podcasts/OPM/110906.mp3

Wow, listened to that and it's hard not to notice how they are so anti Gears.(don't know if they're ps3 fanboys but by the way they just try and find these stupid reasons why Gears isn't great is hilarious. )

So why is Target getting kiosks before the likes of Best Buy?

Dunno, but my Target had it tonight (Merced, CA).

Crappy camera phone pic I took:

I also noticed that WalMart has a unit up but with only a looping video. In their case they have a PS3 unit but it isn't plugged in or anything. I was there the other night when the guys were setting it all up. They had a 23" Bravia monitor that was going to show gameplay footage....apparently from some other source since the PS3 isn't even hooked up.

I know you've all heard it before, just wanted to say it.

In their prime, bloated with money, gaffs with tech 'innovation'.

So I just got my reserved PS3 confirmed. Tomorrow morning I'll be picking up:

-PS3 System (20gb)
-Ridge Racer 7
-Resistance
-Genji
-Sega Golf Club
-Extra Controller

The clerk told me that although the system is listed at 49, 980 yen, it should end up being a little cheaper than that(!).

I haven't been following the prices, but I was surprised to find that some of these games are priced lower than most new PS2 releases. Ridge Racer and Resistance are normal, at 6,124 yen and 5,900 yen, but Genji and Sega Golf Club are only about 5,000 yen each.

Why haven't I seen any of the PS3 product line packaging beside the big box itself?

I need pictures of the SIXAXIS, the memory card reader and the remote, can anybody help?

I just got of the phone with the man who is CEO for the company that brings Playstation to Malta

maybe this is old news but its new to me

He told me that importers of PS3 should NOT register their Consoles online as Sony will ban all importers from online play etc.

thats ****ed up

gofreak posted this in the other thread, but it's worth posting it here again
thanks to the translation from one @ b3d, heres some nice information and pictures:

+ Using XMB and web browsing won't spin the fan. Playing Blu-ray will spin the fan, but the load is still low especially for early MPEG2 titles. The fan spins steadily while gaming.

+ The picture/audio quality for video playback is excellent. Though Cell does not do much postprocessing right now, they are doing research for it.

+ TrueHD is converted to LPCM and outputted via HDMI.

+ No DVD upscaling for the time being. But they are looking at user needs and have a plan for the support.

+ The Blu-ray player response is very quick. The interviewer says he felt it's the fastest among Toshiba, Sony, Matsushita HD players/recorders he tested.

+ Some contents holders say the speed of BD-Java in the PS3 is the fastest.

+ By pressing the triangle button the XMB shows the folder tree structure as is just like Windows Explorer.

+ It can connect with USB mass-storage devices such as PSP, but not with ones with special transfer methods such as iPod and Walkman. They are collaborating with the Walkman unit for some interaction in the future.

+ It's decided that the RSX clock stays undisclosed

+ The EE+GS embedded in the PS3 does emulation for PS1/PS2 for initial shipments PS3, so no graphics upgrade for the time being. The software emulation technology is almost complete but not ready for the launch. As soon as it becomes complete EE+GS is removed from future units.

+ In Remote Play with PSP for the 60GB version, the PS3 resolution becomes 480p (16:9) and converts the screen to MPEG-4 Simple Profile at around 1Mbps to send it to the PSP. All control is transferred to the PSP and you can control the PS3 by pressing the PSP buttons. BD/DVD and other copyright-protected materials can't be sent. As for games the support will come in the near future.

+ Downloaded PS1 games are transferred from a PS3 to a PSP by a USB cable.
PLAYSTATION TV (the demo kiosk) starts the download service too.

+ The web browser can open up to 6 pages simultaneously. 64MB memory is always reserved for the browser, the instant messenger and other XMB OS activity even while in game.

+ Installing Linux creates a new HDD partition separately from the PS3 partition. After the setup, you can select which system to use at the boot menu. You can choose to auto-boot Linux too.

+ Aside from Linux, SCE's developers are still seeking the way to publish proper software development environment for the PS3 main OS and PSP for general users. But right now the PS3 main OS can run only signed applications (while PS3 Linux can run whatever applications on it).

Since PS3 is capable of using USB-devices, im gonna get myself a USB-Hdstorage that can be equipped with 3.5" drives. They sell those with 250GB here for $99 so.

love the PSP pictures displaying the PS3 =)

Wow, excitement rising! :)

I am really expecting news from my provider. I am ready for not getting it, but I really want him to tell me he got it.

Once I get a confirmation, I will test again how Gamestop/EB Games online works for international orders (the last time was a mess because the credit card). I want to get an american Resistance and some PC games.

Lyte Edge, any news of Playstation Cards in japanese retailers?

Controlling the PS3 with my white PSP: so sexy (with that and my Bravia I will look a Sony bitch :P, will have to get a VAIO and a Sony mobile phone :P to complete the collection).

That's interesting..there's a picture in the article showing a web browser on the PSP, but is that the PSP's own, or the PS3's via the remote play function? Not sure why you'd want to do that..but I am glad it also supports photos etc. Looks very cool.

I wonder if anybody can translate the playstation store image.
Looks like thieres some GT:HD, Genji, and Afrika stuff. I'm guessing they are just trailers?

I read something similar in an Irish newspaper a couple of days ago. But the comments made by the Sony guy in it were a little ambiguous as to what exactly he was talking about - online in general, or just the store. I really hope they don't restrict online play and all online functionality like that (at least, if I'm still getting a japanese or us system this year..).

so anyone think gamespot can get their hands on a Japanese ps3 at launch? I have doubts since there will only be 100,000 or less.

I have my doubts as well. It seems pretty hectic from the pictures I've seen.

Cannot say whether this is old already or not, but here are the first examples of users replacing their hard drives on PS3.

I'm thinking Motorstorm might come out earlier than expected. My Best Buy sent me a catalogue which had a few pages dedicated to PS3 stuff, and it was included on the roster of software along with Genji and Resistance.

Yeah being that its out in japan in december, I really think it might hit in january or feb. for NA. They really need to give us some dates for these other launch window games.
