And here's the deal for everyone wondering.

You make two users. In my case Bebpo & Bebpo2.

You sign one user up for with home country as Japan. You don't enter a CC unless you have a Japanese CC. You make a PSN nick (for me bebpojp) and you give it an e-mail address/password. You tell it to auto log-in each time (so you don't have to keep entering your password).

You sign the other user up with country US. You give a US CC if you want and you make a PSN nick (bebpo) and give it a DIFFERENT e-mail address (so you gotta have 2 e-mail addresses) and password. You tell it to auto log-in each time (so you don't have to keep entering your password.

Now at this point when you boot your system you just choose the user at the start (like X360 profiles) and if say I pick bebpo I will have access to the Japan store and if I pick bebpo2 I will have access to the US store.

The only thing that sucks is that you're gonna have to make seperate friends lists for the two user ids. But you can just use one id for downloading from that region only and use the other id when playing.

Anyhow everything worked out like I thought it would!! :) Now we just need import stores to carry Playstation cards so we can purchase stuff with our Japanese ids on the Japanese marketplace.

Do you have to choose a login every time you boot or can you default to your main login like 360?

You can assign a user as the default and they'll auto-login.

Speaking of the PlayStation Store, I like that it's there, but the PS3 really needs to report more info. I'm sure this has already been discussed, but when you're downloading a demo or something, it locks the PS3 into that download; no multi-tasking for us. It's bad enough that I can't jump back out to listen to music or something, but I have no idea how quickly I'm downloading, nor do I know how much time is left.

Haven't checked (downloading F1 demo now). But it would be nice! I'm just going to use my JP one as my default since I already have a friends list going and soley use the US id for grabbing all this cool stuff off the store.

Really happy that's there's basically a way for everyone to enjoy all content from both Japan and US. REGION-FREE CONSOLE <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<3333333333

Yay! I get to play something other than Resistance this weekend! Is the Motorstorm demo multi?

Don't have it yet, but considering the Japanese version has no online and none of the demos have had online at trade shows...I'd guess....no :P

Still, 2 XBLA-type games to buy and a bunch of demos (NBA 07 demo, Resistance demo, and Ridge demos as well are there) is a pretty damn nice start.

Bebpo how big is the F1 and Motorstorm demo in size?

Motorstorm is 456MB. Because of the issues I talked about in my last post, I'm not sure how big F1 is. If I remember right, you can't find out until you actually start downloading it.

[edit] Nevermind, there ya go! Info tag team!
[edit2] I'm sure it's already been mentioned (I swear I'll read back a few pages in a bit), but the Blast Factor demo is stupid short. I'm hoping the demos get a little more meaty because it took me longer to download the game than it did to beat it. Ouch.

BEEFY.

Just the way I like it!!!!

Well, the JP demo of Ridge Racer 7 was was like 420 megs if I remember right and it was one track and 5 or so cars. You can't be sure how much content is actually contained in the demos until you play 'em, sadly.

How are your download speeds?

No way to tell, sadly. A couple posts up I bitched about that -- you're locked out of doing anything while you're downloading something and you can't tell how much longer you have or how fast the download is going.

Bebpo said:
I do about 500megs in 5-10 mins. About the same speeds I get on X360. Cable modem here with between 500k/s-900k/s download speed on PC stuff.

Ah, see, I'm on a really shoddy wireless connection. Hard-wired I get about 1MB/sec, but wirelessly, it's a crapshoot. At least it doesn't drop the connections; since the PS3 can't resume downloads, I'd be pissed.

80% done with Motorstorm... COME ONNNNN!

How big is the Resistance demo? Given the size of the game (22gig+) either that is a monster download or it's a short demo or... something else...

Awesome, just finished registering + am DLing the motorstorm demo now.

My tag name is Bane if someone wants to add me - with somesort of weird Pedobear like avatar :lol

NBA 2k7 is on the way tomorrow - going to try + snap some pics + put up a comparison tomorrow between the 360 version vs. the PS3 version.

The re-done heads should be interesting if true. Least I think players like Chris Kaman should no longer look like the Crypt Keeper.

Also I really need to pick up a second controller - not sure if any stores out there are selling them yet. The only one that seems widely available right now is that Logitech Chillstream one which I'm not even sure if it's any good at all.

F1 is sorta disappointing.

In the rain (you can set weather in the demo) the water filter hides a lot of the flaws and it looks fairly good. But in the sun it's not too hot looking. The cars are good, but the tracks look pretty awful and last gen. The framerate seems weird too. I think it's bouncing around and using motion blur to hide it.

Gameplay-wise I'm not the person to ask as I know nothing about F1. First race (there are 2 tracks available) I kept all the aids on and it was sorta boring (no rumble is really noticable in racing games :\). Then on the 2nd track I turned all the aids off and damage on and it was sorta cool because cars were breaking apart (graphically the destruction is not good), but then you lose and retire the race if you're in a crash and lose a wheel (basically any high speed crash) soooo...while it looks cool to see parts fly around. When you see them you also lose the race... ^^;

Also just like RR7, X is gas, [] is brake. WHY HAVE ANALOGUE TRIGGERS on L2/R2 if racing games aren't going to use them!! :\

I'll hook up my Logitech wheel later and see if this, Motorstorm, or RR7 support it.

*drool* spill it DC, the hype meter just hit 12

the awesome :

30fps locked
nice sense of speed
fun
destruction is fantastic
awesome sense of "being there"
amazing music ! nice effect!
nice course

the shit :

motion control... too fidgity at first, got used to it, then it just went buggy as hell
Menus are a bit weird
no "in person" view for the bike :(

Holy Shit! USA Sony Store avaliable is great news (I will have to create three accounts now :P).

Where the hell is my system? :( I want it.... NOW.

By the way, I´m starting to fear I´m loosing a big deal without 1080P. I have a 26 Bravia 720P and I sit quite near from it (use it as PC monitor and display for console).

Anyone can hit me on the head before I start thinking in buying a 32 1080P? What I´m missing without the 1080P at this distance?

Best news ever right now
When you say motion control, tdo you mean the tilt, or just the control of the car on the track?

Don't do it, not that many games are 1080p, and you won't be missing anything especially at that screen size. Not to mention the PS3 won't scale upwards to 1080p in 720p games so that would be left to your TV's scaler which is a bit iffy.

oooookay, the demo goes a bit crazy on the bike level...

i was having fun, now it's bugging out - bike falling through scenery on landing, then exploding, graphical glitches, etc....)

weird....

Question: How many vehicles are on the track?"
12 on the bike level
15 on the jeep level.

You can use triggers for RR7, but it's not the best. It's like only the first 30% of the push is analog, then the rest of the push is registered as 100% on :/

I recall people playing the PS3 kiosk with Motorstorm mentioning slowdown.

yes, some people saw the build at TGS when it wasn't running to great and described it as "total ass", Where are those people now it's 30fps and looking great?

oh wait...

Holy shit! Motostorm + motion control = awesome. Seriously, this is the first download I've completed where I feel like it was worth the time to get it. And dude... dude, they included the Nirvana song from the trailer. Holy shit, I have to play more. If only it were online.

[edit] The ass on the girl riding the Monarch Champ bike is bladooooow.
[edit2] Holy shit, bikes are squirrelly.
[edit3] Oh, hay, the pause and rotate at any time feature is in. Move the right analog stick after hitting start and the HUD goes bye-bye and you can rotate at will around the ass (which doesn't look as good when she's flying right at a sign.
[edit4] If you leave it paused for too long it goes back to the title screen. Much be the demo kiosk mode.

That's really disappointing. I had lots of hope for the triggers emulating the 360 experience :(

Also, I'm weak and have already placed my pre-order for an import copy of MotorStorm. I simply cannot wait until March, and if that means I buy the same game a second time just for online play, then so be it.

Motorstorm is awesome!!

Really the first game on PS3 to make me go WOW :) The graphics are excellent and I can't believe how many cars there are at once...it's insane (no slowdown too!). Handling is nice, music is great though the demo is insanely loud (live Nirvana track...YES). Incredibly fun. Total winner of a game.

Only downpoint is I swear they've toned down the amount of pieces when crashing. There's barely any debris flying when you destroy a car and so far I haven't been able to pull off any crazy crashes. Running a bike guy straight into a big car doesn't seem to have the bike guy die, he just bounces off and keeps driving :(

Oh and this is the first game where motion controls actually work. Very playable with them...but then again I don't see any advantage in using them over the analogue and I don't find motion fun so I stick with standard controls.

Calling All Cars trailer looks really fun. Can't wait!
