Official US/JP PLAYSTATION 3 Launch Thread

Okay, upon more play time with the bikes, the SIXAXIS actually controls weight and steering. On bikes, you can basically use this to shift things onto the front and back (i.e. pop wheelies by just tilting back). I can honestly say this is the best use of the controller I've seen yet. You can brake into corners and throw the weight around to pitch your body (or, uh, her body -- though there are guys you can play as, but who wants to do that?) to create slides and stuff.

God damn this is a great demo.

wow - i'm obviously missing something, because i had a shocking time :(

When driving with the truck, visualize a real steering wheel, or better yet one of the older wheel controllers; subtle movements are the key. If you can sort of picture you're turning a wheel in your head rather than holding the controller, it'll click after a while. On bikes, imagine you're grabbing the handlebars. It's crazy how well this works if you sort of ignore you're holding a controller and just in your mind's eye think of it as the vehicle you're controlling.

Man you are making this game sound like having sex with Beyonce. :lol

But I want to keep reading.

Y HELO THAR.

Cash Guns & Chaos is ummm a complete clone with no originality of Smash TV. Laaaame. :(

Gonna pick up Blast Factor since the demo was fun. Wonder if it'll be tied to your account (as in other users on your system can't play it). Checkout system for purchasing is fairly decent. Tells you the exact price and you add "virtual funds" to buy it but instead of being like X360 where you can only add in set amounts, here you can add the exact amount for the purchase or buy $10, $20, $50, etc...

shots look quite nice - the frame rate isn't all there unfortunately, but i'm sure F1 nuts will require tissues.

Hmm...is the PS3 store down or something? I go to download the demo, but it just sits at 0%. :/

DCharlie, did you download from the U.S. store or the Japanese store?

Also it wouldn't take my (Japanese) AMEX card. It's weird, since I can use it with the 360 no problem.

EDIT: Never mind, it's going, but EXTREMELY slow. Very strange.

I feel like a total spaz trying to steer with the sixaxis :lol I almost got it down though where I can do a turn without freaking out.

But damn Motorstorm is awesome, having a whole lot of fun with just the demo.

post some pics of motorstorm running in hd pls

What, my 4:3 shit resolution images of bootay aren't good enough for you? Asshole. :)

What's crazy is that all the times I played game before (E3 & TGS builds), the game looked awesome, but I was playing it on awesome TVs. This is only plain ol' POS 27" 480i Wega. And it still looks badass.

Hmm...looks better than I remember it looking an hour ago. Maybe it just doesn't look nice on my TV. Or maybe the framerate was really distracting me...it just looked...weird.

So if you buy a downloadable game from the store and it's on your hard drive, any user can play it. You'll even see the other user's scores on the scoreboard.

Which makes me wonder if you go to a friend's house and download it to their hard drive...do they get it for free? Is this where the rumored "5 downloads" comes in?\

Also I don't know if it was mentioned but Blast Factor does have XBLA style leaderboards with a friend filter so you can compete against your buddies' best score.

Sorry, I don't think Sony's locked down a release date, which means we'll probably get it around or even after Europe gets it. On the plus side, this means all those framerate issues people are having will be ironed out. What's weird is I don't remember there being any framerate issues when I played the game on Gamer's Day, but I think it may have been masked by the rain.

[edit] Nevermind, March it is!

Took shots in the dazzling sun after start... makes the image pretty saturated , looks quite nice!

I'm still a bit confused about one point... if your TV has a DVI-HDCP socket, can you connect the HDMI to that for video and use the AV output for audio? The online PS3 user guide seems to imply that video and audio can be set up independently (or at least it doesn't specifically say it can't) but is this actually the case? Or would it be necessary to buy some sort of HDMI receiver thing to split the output from the HDMI cable?

Holy shit! Motostorm + motion control = awesome. Seriously, this is the first download I've completed where I feel like it was worth the time to get it. And dude... dude, they included the Nirvana song from the trailer. Holy shit, I have to play more. If only it were online.

[edit] The ass on the girl riding the Monarch Champ bike is bladooooow.
[edit2] Holy shit, bikes are squirrelly.
[edit3] Oh, hay, the pause and rotate at any time feature is in. Move the right analog stick after hitting start and the HUD goes bye-bye and you can rotate at will around the ass (which doesn't look as good when she's flying right at a sign.
[edit4] If you leave it paused for too long it goes back to the title screen. Much be the demo kiosk mode.

I have same TV as you. Why aren't you using the 16:9 enhanced mode?

Thanks DCharlie... Motorstorm looks amazing in your shots.

My contact told me he wasn´t able to send me PS3 until now, is not even in the ems tracking system yet :( So no PS3 until next week at least.

Edit: Silly me, I was checking EMS China. The packet is now in Tokyo.

Because I'm a lazy bastard, really. I've been playing RR7 for most of the day, and that does an auto-crunch (or at least is 16:9 by default). the remote was like a whole 5 feet away, and I was geeking out. But you've raised a good point. Now I have to figure out if games allow me to bust out the hawt hawt widescreen action.

STILL can't download the demo. It got almost to end and gave me an error message. :/ But reset the system and it's downloading at a much faster speed now...

Probably not online.

That's what I'm expecting, which would be a shame. Still tempted to import though, in time for Xmas :/

Is there any destruction in the demo or are they still only showing the arcade-y mode?

I'm wondering about this too..there'd been some talk on this, but I'm not sure what the final word was. I have a projector with a DVI-HDCP input, but I'm not sure if it's worth me getting a HDMI->DVI cable or just to stick with my ps2 component cables, depending on the audio situation.

I better leave this company nomikai asap and get this MotorStorm rollin'

Aaaahhhhhhh

At least you`re at a freakin` nomikai! I`m at work proper!

And here's the deal for everyone wondering.

You make two users. In my case Bebpo & Bebpo2.

You sign one user up for with home country as Japan. You don't enter a CC unless you have a Japanese CC. You make a PSN nick (for me bebpojp) and you give it an e-mail address/password. You tell it to auto log-in each time (so you don't have to keep entering your password).

You sign the other user up with country US. You give a US CC if you want and you make a PSN nick (bebpo) and give it a DIFFERENT e-mail address (so you gotta have 2 e-mail addresses) and password. You tell it to auto log-in each time (so you don't have to keep entering your password.

Now at this point when you boot your system you just choose the user at the start (like X360 profiles) and if say I pick bebpo I will have access to the Japan store and if I pick bebpo2 I will have access to the US store.

The only thing that sucks is that you're gonna have to make seperate friends lists for the two user ids. But you can just use one id for downloading from that region only and use the other id when playing.

Anyhow everything worked out like I thought it would!! :) Now we just need import stores to carry Playstation cards so we can purchase stuff with our Japanese ids on the Japanese marketplace.

Oh it`s ON! I`m totally signing up for the US Store when I get home!

From what tetsuoxb was telling me, he connected HDMI for video, and optical for audio.

Those lines at least look better than the lines into fabric in london...and better than the 3 month line Im waiting on...I dont line up for anything though

peace

Weird, the more exaggerated my arm movements are the better the Sixaxis responds to turning in Motorstorm :lol

I tried just moving my hands + couldn't get it going very well, but when I lean and use my arms to turn it's responding a hell of a lot better.

I'm thinking I will go ahead and get the ebgames 60 dollar (1 year) warranty just to be safe. :/
