It certainly sounds like it. Perhaps we'll have a downloadable demo impressions thread tomorrow when people have US systems.

Different demos, note that the people in here are saying that the framerate is stable while the people in the other thread say that its all over the place.

Yup. Played the demo at Target myself, definitely old build (fewer cars) and hooked up improperly. It's going to be a big difference when you download the Motorstorm demo yourself and properly play it at 720P on your HDTV.

when games stores take cash for preorders, i assume they did this a) for themselves not for sony, b) against sonys will or something?

Because those orders were being taken months and months ago. Surely those are presales too?
 
Cool, thank for the reply guys! I'll be downloading the motorstorm demo day one when I get my PS3. Now the biggest question is when.
 
Resistance ad was just on. Same white room but the back wall gets blown out and it fades into the part of the opening level where the soldier is motioning for you to follow him and then goes into a montage before going back to the white room where there's teh Chimera skull from the boxart laying in a bunch of rubble.

they're attempting to ship more every week, although obviously it's not going to apply evenly across the country. EB is fairly confident they'll have at least a couple more units in the next week or two.
 
Eh, I DLed the US demo on my JPN unit. Sure it looks very pretty, cool physics, but it reminded me of a slower version of Burnout x FlatOut. It's ok, but didn't overwhelm me...in fact, its not yet in my must-have list. I dont care if I wont have games on my PS3, I aint forcing myself on "yeah maybe I'll buy it for the sake of having a new game for the PS3"
 
Any word on the lines at the NYC launch party? I saw Gamespot's article earlier, but I'm wondering if there are already 400 there or..

It's not "awesome" if you live in Europe, it means it's one less avenue where we can actually import a PS3.

Oh so now you want to steal our launch units too? Yeah that's great, wonderful. Also you have to remember, eBay doesn't actually WANT to stop people selling PS3s, because they get a cut of the price of every PS3 sold. The only reason they're banning them in the UK is to pre-empt the possibility of legal action from Sony.
 
I dont get it, the anchorlady said the store only had 8 units but this guy paid a truck full of homeless guys $100 each to wait and is bringing them food? How's he making money on that?

Out of the 51 people I've asked around at six different Best Buys, 36 of them were selling it on ebay and 7 of them were trying to sell their spot in line. It seemed that the people who actually want a PS3 are usually stuck at the end and in some unfortunate scenarios outside of the allocated launch numbers.

People are REALLY f**king dedicated to make money.

For the curious here are the ones I went to:
Kendall
Dadeland Station (number of people were four times the number of allocated units) (line since sunday)
Tropicare/Bird Road
Cutler Ridge
Hialeah (midnight launch, almost all ebayers) (line since tuesday)
Hollywood (almost all ebayers)

Well obviously he's only going to pay the ones who get a ticket. Yeah, he's screwing over a bunch of desperate and unsuspecting homeless people.

:/ Maybe it's smart but its just sounds ****ed up to me. The kid is getting like 50 of them just to scalp on ebay, not just one for himself. Thats atleast 49 more people who want a ps3 who can't get a ps3 for the retail price. I said before I dont have a problem with scalpers, they are just trying to make a quick profit so I can't really knock that. But on the other hand, the honest gamers who want a ps3 wont be able to find one unless they cough up 1k+ on ebay. The guy should do his own dirty work and wait in line.

I think it's safe to say, this is going to be the most ebay'ed console ever.

If the store managers are smart, they would kick the eBayers off of the line. Just sayin'. :D
 
PS3 launch should be known as PS3: Fall of Man. There is some real wild shit going on out there. PS2 launch was crazy, but this launch people are really planning. Heck, some even have an army of bums and illegials to beat back the true gamers this year. I wonder how many people will get shot on launch day.

I'll be getting a Wii though.
 
I'm definitely bringing my brother with me Friday morning when I pick up the system. He's younger than me, but he's also taller, bigger and just plain crazy.

Oh ok. I hope they get their 2nd shipment in asap. I'm not hardcore enough to camp out for 40+ hours and I got screwed with the EB/GS cuts.
