I have reading many ps3 threads lately but I havent read anything regarding divx/xvid playback capabilties of the ps3. Hope someone could fill me in on this.

That's the retarded, American-mobile-phone-company money-costing way of doing it. Here in Europe we can use Bluetooth to send cameraphone pictures direct to our PCs or PDAs. What the guy wants to know is, can PS3 accept them too?

Don't UMD movies on PSP display a background screen in the xmb? Im trying to figure out why Sony didn't do this feature with Bluray. They had to know from the beginning that PS3 was going to have Bluray, seems like something is missing when I see BD-ROM woulda have been alot nicer to see a screen of the movie..

RR7 looks amazing, even on my SDTV via S-Video... can't wait to see what it looks like in high-def, besides those wmv movies... The only thing this game is lacking is the ability to import your own music tracks... I'd really, really, really, reeeeeeeeeeeeally like to use the music from R4.

I'm fine with the size. I might see if I can hide the 360 behind it. I put it in a cabinet but its getting hot in there so it needs space to breath. Don't want too many things on top in view, but if I can hide the 360 (and hddvd addon) behind the PS3 it might be OK

I compared to HDMI to Component last night and they were identical on my XBR 960 CRT. I'm sure this varies set to set, though.

the ps3 is seriously fuggin huge. in terms of volume it may not be that much bigger than 360, but the multitiered design and the curves just make it seem enormous. my 360 suddenly looks svelte now. it's a really attractive console, though -- more impressive in person than it is in pictures.

I think he means when you charge the controller and power down the system. It remains on in a sort of standby mode to complete the charge.

Yes... there is tilt control in R7, in the controller options menu... Make sure you confirm the selection. Personally, I prefer to use the analog... I'm sur ethe tilt works well, but it's probably best to start off playing with analog control.

i would love to. but for some reason my internet sucks. and i just got the system like couple of hours ago and i dont even know how to make PSN name [ for some reason i cant even download the update because of the sucky connection

i wonder though, how come i need to update via online when i am already updated my machine through the RR7

when i put RR7 or R:FOM, and turn off the system, the next time i turn it, it takes me to the GUI [ the XBM or whatever its called " the menu screen" for 1 second then it turns the game on"

is this normal? shouldnt load directly to the game without going to the menu screen for this second? because thas how its in my psp

in resistance, the tilt function only has only one use. when certain enemy grabs you, you can shake your controller to shake those f'ckers off.

i think the whole tilting thing was made known to the developers pretty late, so dont expect a lot of support for it for now.

Mine does the same thing too. I stop the PS3 from loading the game by holding down the PS button on the controller while it boots up.

Someone on SA was talking about this weird HDMI problem he has, and happened to mention that Sony told him a new firmware update will be arriving at the end of the month.

We wish. Called sony, said they had never heard of this problem. We tried it on two different computer monitors (both with different types of inputs, using HDMI, HDMI-DVI all that stuff and nothing, same exact problem no matter what.)

Sony said, wait 1.5 weeks for new firmware update, and if still a problem, they will immediately ship us another one.

On a set that small (odd that we now consider 34" small nowadays lol) there's not much difference. In your particular case i'd be surprised if you'll ever see much difference, the 960 was the last Sony CRT to use their SFP (super fine pitch) tube and the PQ on those sets is about as good as it gets (although it comes at a size disadvantage, that things a beast 250+ lbs. if i remember right). Larger the set though and the more the degradation stands out.

My roommate has his PS3 and has a few problems.

Has anyone noticed in either RR7 or Resistance black boxes in the graphics? We get a diagnal line going across the screen of black pixels. THP8 Works beautifully, but those other two seem like shit with the pixels. BD discs are fine, as well as the discs themselves. BD plays perfectly, but WTF! I cant find anyone else with this prob... Anyone?

I just tried Battle Gear 3 on my machine. It's a 480i only game but my TV reports the image as 480p. Does the PS3 force prog scan for 480i games or is my TV misreporting it?

NCSX tested and they all work.
