Blimblim said:Wow, another crash while playing resistance, and this time the PS3 doesn't seem to be restarting.
Looks like it's overheating, is it better to have it vertical or horizontal?
Well it just crashed in the playstation store as well. It's "funny" (no it's not) because I can still press the P button and I can hear the sound and move, but the screen is frozen.llTll said:it wouldnt matter. the vents on the side and the back.
and overheating? you will be like the first ps3 to overheat
its most likely a bad copy of Resistence, try different game.
the system when you play for sometime will get hot under the vents " the lower vents" when you touch the plastic " shell" of the ps3
and it should feel warm on the back

Of course it had to happen to me![]()
Are you using HDMI?Blimblim said:Well it just crashed in the playstation store as well. It's "funny" (no it's not) because I can still press the P button and I can hear the sound and move, but the screen is frozen.

ok lets try to do this, cool the system. use a usb fan or put it some where cold. see if it will crash. if it did, then its not overheatingBlimblim said:Well it just crashed in the playstation store as well. Yeah :/Flo_Evans said:sounds like you got a bad RSX![]()

Edit: Btw, is it me or is Motorstorm's demo incredibly loud? My receiver is usually at -30 DB for gaming, and for MS I have to put it at -45. I've just been taken by surprise (yeah the PS3 booted up again) with the receiver at -30 while just browsing the game list, and my cat jumped out of the desk because it was frightened![]()
When it wouldn't boot the light would turn green, but nothing would happen on the screen, and no music either.gofreak said:It was a bit louder, i think, yeah. I think they want you to play with the volume up
Glad to hear yours booted again. When it wouldn't boot, what was the light like? red? flashing red?
If you hadn't already I'd move it away from any sources of heat and make sure the vents have plenty of breathing room. Maybe me just being super-cautious, but that's what I did and I haven't had the same trouble since (again, touch wood!).
Yep. I'll try again tomorrow, but it looks like I'm ****ed. I already paid 131 euros today to the customs to finally be able to get it, and now I'll have to send it back to my friend in Japan and then wait I don't know how long to get it back.RaijinFY said:Ouch, looks like you get a defective one...![]()

I had a big fan right on the PS3 when it last crashed, and it's in the middle of my room. So it's not a heat problem, and it's not a good newskikonawa said:i had a few freezes when I had my ps3 ontop of my sat receiver. since a few days its now next to my tv on its side with plenty of room left right and around . no problem since then. It may be it is very sensitive about heat.
here is the thingBlimblim said:I had a big fan right on the PS3 when it last crashed, and it's in the middle of my room. So it's not a heat problem, and it's not a good news![]()
It's most definitely a hardware issue.llTll said:here is the thing
if its hardware problem like RSX, your system wouldnt even play any game for single second.
its really not hardware problem. i really think its software problem. something has to do when you updated the system, the installation didnt go through well or the download wasnt not fully complete or something
i think you should format your PS3 and restore it to the orginal [ i never done this before but its in the menu i think ]
you got nothing to lose. so might as well try to see if its possible to re install the update or format the ps3.Blimblim said:It's most definitely a hardware issue.
Blimblim said:Just did a full system restore after reformating the HD. We'll see, but I'm not holding my breath.
I tried both with and without the stepdown converter.TTP said:Are u using a stepdown converter or did u plug it into the wall directly? Just wondering.
(Mine is still working fine on 220V btw. Never had a crash, never)
It's a possibility yes. I'd soooo love to pay another 100 euros fee to get back my faulty PS3.LJ11 said:That sucks Blim. If you send it back to Japan would you have to pay an another custom fee when your friend sends you back the new unit?
Hope it works well for you this time.Blimblim said:Just did a full system restore after reformating the HD. We'll see, but I'm not holding my breath.

Awesome..Any way I can hook up my PSOne or PS2 memory card and transfer the data over to the created memory on the harddrive?
It's most likely not your PS3. Havent read all your comments but its probably your receiver or adapters in between usually these are the first suspects. After that try another TV. My HDTV also freezes its image something when I raise the volume from my receiver while playing my PS2. If you still here the PS3 running then I am positive it's not the PS3 and it's your setup.Blimblim said:I tried both with and without the stepdown converter.

drohne said:goddamnit my resistance save data got corrupted. i must have quit the game while it was saving. or something. oh well -- won't mind replaying the first 6 areas or whatever it was. last area i finished was cheddar gorge. maybe i'll try it on hard.

drohne said:sony really cheaped out on the memory card adaptor -- it's read-only, and it doesn't even have its own usb cord. well, i'm glad i've got it in any case. if ps3 could play legacy games from all regions, i could cut my setup down to two consoles.
