Let's get happy, people!
Guess who's coming back home?!

That's right! Johnnie Lee Higgins, Shane Lechler, Michael Huff, Thomas Howard and Stanford Routt are back in the Lone Star State!!! What a momentous occasion and they'll be facing that high powered Houston air attack! :O

Oh, you guys thought this was about Favre? Nah, that game's at Minny. Duh!

PS: Congrats to Detroit on their first win! Suck it down, Tampa!

DET @ CHI - OMG can the Lions use this momentum to springboard them to be actual competitors?! No.
CIN @ CLE - Tackling optional in this game.
OAK @ HOU - I know the boys are coming back home, but they're bringing Jamarcus with them. :(
SEA @ IND - Simple math.
TEN @ JAC - This game is a tossup, but at least Tenn can contain MoJo unlike Houston.
NYG @ KC - Oh gee, I guess I'll flip a coin. [lock of the fucking week]
BAL @ NE - My Pats are trying to become a running team. Baltimore's weakness is the air. This game comes down to Welker's health.
TB @ WAS - Oh lawd. What a horrible game this will be. I just can't decide. I'll be back after I watch some JJ film!
BUF @ MIA - No Pennington, no sale!
NYJ @ NO - This will be an interesting game where Brees will show that he doesn't give a fuck about your 8 man blitzes. Suck it, Brady!
DAL @ DEN - If not, I hope Romo is fired... from a cannon... into the sun.
STL @ SF - The X-Factor here is how much the 9ers, PWilly,
and FMT
are reeling from being Favre'd. I say the have recovered... barely.
SD @ PIT - I'm rooting for the opposite, but Pit is on shaky ground with me.

GB @ MIN - Why did this have to be MNF? Fuck! Kornheiser is gone, but Gruden is going to make me want to punch the TV. Thank heavens for the mute button. Oh, my pick? BRETT FAVRE! SUCK IT, ERRANT!
actually, I think the GB like is just so bad...

Incredibly Naive
It will be a tough game for the pats this week... lets see if Brady can shake off some of that rust.

I would like to say that it feels good to know that your team is out of the race to be winless the longest!

Tennessee will be a formidable opponent, we'll see what Jags team shows up.

Titans D sucks now. Collins sucks. Chris Johnson is still awesome though. Jags will win most likely

Another week, another tough game for the Jets - who seemingly have to prove they aren't bullshitting us everytime they put the pads on this season. When are they going to get some "easier" games in the schedule, lol :lol

Seriously though, Ryan and his Rexecutioners defense have been fucking the league up so far, and this week will be a sizeable challenge: try to stop the most potent offense in the game. If anyone can do it though, it's the 2009 Jets. And now, picks:

DET @ CHI: I'm going to be ballsy and say the Lions will come out fired up and upset the Bears. Sorry, Mrbob!
CIN @ CLE
OAK @ HOU
SEA @ IND
TEN @ JAC
NYG @ KC
BAL @ NE

NYJ @ NO: Breesus will be REXECUTIONED.

GB @ MIN: I make this pick because if it is correct, this thread will be so filled with LULZ.

New York Jets, onward and upward.

Yeah, but they'll still *TRY* and throw with Russell and that'll keep the game closer.:lol

That's the thing... even when they run well, they refuse to do it. They'd rather have JRuss take 30+ dropbacks and go 3 and out all day. At least his completion percentage went up this week because two went to the other team!

Here is some film from the draft guys tv preview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sITaJVOX0BQ&feature=fvw

And I'll repost my outlook on him. I corrected the draft guys math on his completion percentage in college. It was actually 69.9%.

Since he is going to be starting against the Redskins this week as well as for the foreseeable future I'm going to make a post about the QB on the Bucs roster that I wanted to start from the beginning of the season.

What I like about Josh Johnson.

Very nice touch on his passes. Has a whip though. Throws the ball much harder then you would expect from looking at him.

Smooth effortless dropback and steps up into the pocket with a natural rhythm. He doesn't stand still like a statue when he completes his dropback. Stepping up into the pocket is where a consistent and accurate passing game happens, not running around like a moron (ie. Vick, VY). They don't even have to be a running QB, just the kind of guy that moves out of the pocket everytime there is pressure. That fucks up the timing of the receiver patterns.

Even though he was playing against Division 2 competition his career stats are outrageous.

Career: 115 TD's to 15 interceptions. 43 TD's and 1 interception Sr. season (1 interception was tipped by his receiver)

Career 69.9% completion percentage.

Usually a QB's completion percentage comes down a few points between college and the pros. This is what has always bothered me about Josh Freeman, he is a career 57.9% passer and only completed 58.6 of his passes in his Sr. season. Projected to the NFL that's about 55%. What really bothers me is that Freemans mechanics are solid. Squares his shoulders and steps into his passes, and still only completes 58% of his passes. In the NFL a good QB needs to complete at least 60% of his throws. Go here and sort last seasons passers by completion percentage. Except for Roethlisberger at 59.9 you notice a pretty big difference between the guys above 60% and the guys below.

Sorry DM but this is why I hated the Freeman pick. Right now if Josh Johnson doesn't turn out to be a hidden gem from the 5th round then we are screwed for awhile at QB.

Not with the Texans secondary.

I swore he had the best game of his career in their win against the Texans last season.

DET @ CHI - Crying from one win? There's no crying in football, just ask TO.
CIN @ CLE - Nothing to see here.
OAK @ HOU - Will the Texan's secondary please stand up?
SEA @ IND - The better Manning's gonna rawdog the Seahawks.
TEN @ JAC - I refuse to believe the Titans are really that bad.
NYG @ KC - Giants-mania continues unabated.
BAL @ NE - Now that Brady isn't infallible, Pat's flawed defense stands out.
TB @ WAS - Battle of mediocrity.
BUF @ MIA - TO will make more than one touchdown catch, and will get fined for pretending to take steroids as celebration.
NYJ @ NO - Finally, the "greatest rookie ever" talk can take a one-week break.
DAL @ DEN - I make this call with the utmost uncertainty.
STL @ SF - The Rams now have the longest losing streak to defend, and they'll defend it well.
SD @ PIT - Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me three times?

GB @ MIN - Favre's inner turmoil will make this game more dramatic than a Desperate Housewives rerun.

With the injury to Gore my horrible pathetic and plain straight dumb ( I KNEW THEY SHOULD HAVE RELEASED HASSLESACK AND DRAFTED A QB) Seahawks still have a ultra slim chance of making the playoffs :lol

That was last year. :\ He's actually regressed. That's what's so puzzling about tubbo. The one thing that will be great is that supposedly Chaz Schilens will be back. Hopefully they bench DHB! I doubt it, though since Davis is in charge.

Also, in this last game, they were putting Morrison man to man on the star WR. :lol I expect a good game out of AJ.

I was watching some stuff from college and pre-season games (this year and last). There are a few concerns. First of all, he had throws where he passed off his back foot or even in mid air. Second, even though that video paints him as a pass first guy, he made lots of decisions to run instead of throw to wide open guys. Also, his arm doesn't impress me too much. That said, I like his athleticism and his touch on some of his throws. I think he might give me a reason to watch that game. :D

Though the story has migrated away from the back burner since the start of the regular season, it's not going away.

And that's not good for the Raiders.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network, Raiders defensive assistant Randy Hanson has told Napa police that Raiders coach Tom Cable broke Hanson's jaw during an early-August confrontation.

Hanson's lawyer, John McGuinn, declined to delve into the details, but McGuinn said that it was a "textbook case of felony assault."

Hanson was interviewed by authorities investigating the case on Friday night.

Hanson initially declined to press charges when he sought treatment for the injury. As we've heard it, he wanted to avoid publicity. Once the matter became public -- and once Cable flatly denied (directly and through former college teammate Mark Schlereth of EPSN) that anything had happened -- Hanson's mindset apparently changed.

According to McGuinn, Raiders defensive coaches Lionel Washington, John Marshall, and Willie Brown were present in the room when the incident occurred. It's unknown whether they've been interviewed by authorities, and what if anything they saw.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/28/hanson-tells-cops-that-cable-broke-his-jaw/

Al Davis's hand might be forced soon.:lol

gore is only going to miss two games.

1. unless we absolutely shit the bed and just don't show up, we're going to beat the rams, i don't care who is in the backfield for us.
2. we have a pretty good shot to beat the falcons. they aren't some unstoppable juggernaut and i'm fairly confident our defense can handle them.

coffee is also a good looking runner and i have to believe we'll be calling up kory sheets from the practice squad in gores absence.

49ers will be just fine without gore. we'll have to pass a bit more and that is a good thing considering hill is developing a nice rhythm with vernon davis. i have yet to see a safety or LB that can cover davis. his problem has always been holding onto the ball and reading the blitz so he can be an outlet/hot receiver, both of which he has improved on this year.

OAK @ HOU - Oh Jruss :lol
SEA @ IND
TEN @ JAC
NYG @ KC
BAL @ NE
TB @ WAS
BUF @ MIA
NYJ @ NO - Ooo, tough pick, so I'll go with the home team.
DAL @ DEN
STL @ SF - This should be an easy win, I just hope they know not to underestimate the rams, only bad things will result from underestimating teams (even this years Rams)
SD @ PIT - Also a tough pick. I'm gonna pick against Norv Turner, because I don't believe the Steelers will drop 3 straight, especially not at home.

GB @ MIN - Going with GB on the basis that they will be hungry to upset Favre. Vikings are probably the better team though.

How is this possible?

Edit:

DET @ CHI - O really fucking hope Kevin Smith will be back for this game or the Lions have no chance.
CIN @ CLE - Why can't Quinn win games?
OAK @ HOU - Why do my Texans always have to fuck it up?
SEA @ IND - Peyton will feast.
TEN @ JAC - If they don't win, at least let Young get the garbage points.
NYG @ KC
BAL @ NE - Hard one to guess. Have to go with NE after what they did to Atlanta.
TB @ WAS - Awful game.
BUF @ MIA - LET TRENT EDWARDS THROW TO YOUR TWO STAR WIDE OUTS OR YOU WILL LOSE. Fuck, its like they dont understand they have TO and Lee Evans on their team.
NYJ @ NO - Brees looked human last week so I think the Jets can bring him down another notch.
DAL @ DEN - Romo looked like he was gaining confidence during the second half of the Carolina game. Heres to a more confident start.
STL @ SF - Gore may be out but the Rams lost their wide out last week too.
SD @ PIT - Lets go Willie.

GB @ MIN - Farve is playing because he loves the game and he picked the team up when AP was failing a little. AP will play with a chip on his shoulder and eat GB up.

33-15 Overall and 9-7 last week (yeah, not so good). Let's see how this week will go...

DET @ CHI - Don't get too excited Detroit... You're headed for another L this week. Let's hope it doesn't take quite as long for the next win.

CIN @ CLE - Cincy easily wins this battle of Ohio. Question will be, how will Mangini embarass the Browns this weak?

OAK @ HOU - What a game. Raidahz have a decent D but awful offense while the Texans have no D but a solid offense. I'll take the Schaub2Johnson connection FTW.

SEA @ IND - When the hell aren't the Seahawks beset by injuries? Anyway, how the hell can anyone bet against Peyton at this point?

TEN @ JAC - I think The Titans finally win their first game here, but who knows, they may be more terrible than we've imagined. If they lose, can we finally get the VY train going?

NYG @ KC - Can the Giants do better than their dominating Tampa performance? We shall see...

BAL @ NE - Obviously, one of the marquee games of the week. And quite frankly, I think the Ravens are better than the Patriots. So I'm giving them the W in Foxboro.

TB @ WAS - God, please just spare us the sight of this turd. But I'll go with the lolskins, just because the Bucs are that damn bad.

BUF @ MIA - The injuries to the Bills' secondary hurt, but the Fins aren't good at all this year. So I think TEdwards2Owens/Evans get on track here, plus they should benefit from the return of Beast Mode.

NYJ @ NO - The game I'm looking forward to the most, as we have two teams, both flying high in their respective conferences, looking to remain undefeated. And I honestly don't know who'll win as both teams seem equal with strong play on both sides of the ball (Jets have the edge on D, Saints on O). It will probably come down to the "little things" such as turnovers or special teams to separate the two. But since I have to pick, I'll roll with the Jets and the Sanchize.

DAL @ DEN - The Cowboys may have looked awful at times this season, but they're still better than the Broncos (who have played awful teams to achieve their 3-0 record) and the Boys will have no problem winning @ Mile High despite the short week.

STL @ SF - Rams are terrible, the 49ers, not so much. Nuff said.

SD @ PIT - Let the bad times roll for the Steelers! 3 in a row baby!

GB @ MIN - Favre performs another miracle & Bristol melts down immediately.

Seahawks,

The run was good in the west, though you didn't win it all. Now time to fail (not that there is any other option, maybe 6 or 7 wins total) the rest of the season and get another top ten pick and hope Denver does the same.

A LT and a QB. It worked for Cleveland right?

32-16 overall, pretty bad.

The Panthers looked pretty terrible today. Their defense is really suffering from injuries and Jake is being a clown. I look forward to your first rounder Carolina!

9ers should bonce back this week. I expect the team to come out aggressive and make a statement that aren't to bothered by losing last week. Singletary preaches mental toughness, now its time to show it.
