Gore's injury was pretty well timed. The schedule softens up and then a bye week to heal more. RB is also one of the Niners deepest positions.

When Singletary said the team will learn from the loss and get better, I hope he was including the coaching staff. The players did what they had to do in that game. If there was any letdown, it was coaching decisions, mainly offensive play calls.

As a fan, I notice these things about the offense and find them obvious enough:

-Hill can throw a post pass, even a deep post effectively. His deep outs are another story. This would lead me to believe we run more deep posts than outs from now on.

-Under using the Play Action. Even on poor running nights, a PA will get the defense to bite because everyone knows the team is running 66% of the time. There were plenty of times a PA would have worked well that were passed over.

-Teams question the pass protection for good reason and don't fear Hill's arm. So pass rush is heavy against the team and screens are one of the better counters. Yet we have hardly seen a screen used in those situations. Again, RB is a deep posiition and there's plenty of guys to use here.

-Not best use of personnel. Running the Wildcat with a practice squad guy when you have Michael Robinson and Arnaz Battle, two guys who have quickly been forgotten in the offense. Running reverses with a slow Bruce. Having Josh Morgan in motion just so he can run to the outside tackle and get in block mode, signaling to the defense before every snap that its a run.

jason garrett is a fucking idiot. jesus christ. How do you squander THREE chances at a TD at the 1 yard line when we were running the ball so well?

3rd and goal at the 1. line up in the shotgun? fuck you garrett. and then those two fades. Everyone knows Romo can't throw a fade so why do it TWICE? fadlkjglak;jgla;jkf;laskdjf;a

I do want to see Glen Coffee do really well this weekend. Course, it's the Rams, and he'll probably have inflated numbers for it. But that hasn't hurt anyone else's reputation as far as I know.

oh and bobby carpenter is officially the worst player from that draft. thanks parcells. dude only drafted him because he coached carpenter's dad.

Try as they might, no they cannot.

This will be the week that things go right for a change and the defense actually holds onto a lead. The Lions and Browns will then give us the cushion we need to hold things together under Troy comes back and returns the Steelers to the forefront of the NFL, where they belong.

Btw, who won coach of the year last year? if Singletary gets 9 wins and the division this year combined with what he did taking over last year he should be a strong contender IMHO.

Yeah I don't get the Cowboys offense. I wish the Steelers had a running game half as effective as the Cowboys and yet they seem to abandon it at the weirdest times. I would run almost every time on first and second down if I kept getting first downs until the other team stopped me.

I think we should swap offensive coordinators, Bruce Arians refuses to pass despite us being quite good at it and Garrett refuses to run despite it being quite effective. Win-Win.

1. The New York Giants' emerging wide receivers are creating big plays downfield: Mario Manningham and Steve Smith are a very solid pair of starting wideouts for the Giants. Smith is a superb route runner with excellent body control and reliable hands. He is exceptional out of the slot. Manningham has more big-play flair, and exceptional burst and lateral agility. He already is beginning to dictate coverage schemes. Domenik Hixon remains in the fold, and promising first-rounder Hakeem Nicks should return before long. This is an up-and-coming stable that also contributes as edge blockers for the Giants' vaunted run game. Many thought the Giants would be in big trouble without Plaxico Burress, but that simply isn't the case. It also must be noted that QB Eli Manning is playing at a very high level right now, and while his receivers often used to make him look better than he might have been, the opposite is true now

While it is true the receivers look good now, we don't play a real passing D until Oakland, and a good overall unit until November.

Good test this week. If the douchebag Rivers could torch the Ravens secondary, Brady should have no problem if he is in form. He needs to be in form though and has not looked like it apart from the final 2 minutes against Buffalo.

DET @ CHI - It won't be 19 more games before Detroit wins again
CIN @ CLE - I suppose if the Browns don't like Colt McCoy, they could always take Jimmy Clausen
OAK @ HOU - Note to Al Davis: your QB is definitely NOT a "great playa'"
SEA @ IND - The Peyton Manning march to his 4th MVP continues
TEN @ JAC - The Titans have to win some time, right?
NYG @ KC - This game makes me 8 shades of nervous for some reason
BAL @ NE - I've gone back and forth about 10 times here. At Baltimore, 'twould've been a much easier decision.
TB @ WAS - It's quite likely this game ends up 3-0
BUF @ MIA - Dolphins become the first team in the modern era to win a game without throwing a single pass
NYJ @ NO - The Jets have been impressive. The Saints moreso....
DAL @ DEN - The indelicate unmasking of the Broncos begins here, in spite of my hatred for Dallas
STL @ SF - Let's see which team will win it's first game this season last. My pick is the godawful Rams
SD @ PIT - The Pittsburgh D is quite pedestrian without Hair Troy Polamalu. Have I mentioned yet what a sniveling bitch Phillip Rivers is yet?

GB @ MIN - The Vikings have a Favre-gasm all over the Packs' collective face....

For the year: 36-12

You're delusional if you think Brady is as good as Rivers right now or that he has the same quality of playmakers to throw too. He doesn't. I honestly think the points spread (currently -2.5 Pats) for the game is going to drastically sway depending on if Welker plays or not.

I feel like Philip Rivers is playing at a higher level than Brady at this point in time. I'm not saying he's outright better than Brady as a player, just currently outperforming him.

What's the deal with Garrett anyway? The Ravens offered him the HC position when they fired Billick, and he turned them down supposedly because he was being groomed for HC in Dallas. Now whenever I hear talk of Wade Phillips being fired, they talk about Jones bringing in a Super Bowl winning coach for the job. Is Garrett the Commander Riker of the NFL...never ready for the big chair?

I think it's safe to say his chances are slim of getting the big chair in Dallas now.

Let's not kid ourselves. Oakland has great corners, but they have a shit DLine and a horrible coach, Al Davis. When Kirk Morrison is going man to man with Brandon Marshall and Brown is going man to man with Jabar Gaffney, then you have an idiot at the helm. Let's forget that Nnamdi Asomugha is on the team. Can't we at least get a corner on Brandon Marshall? What kind of retarded strategy is this?! And it's not like it was once on a botched play. It was several times throughout the game. ON PURPOSE. Someone get the Raiders some man lock!

I expect Steve Smith to be covered by Tommy Kelly.

If you can't do it then I will do it for you. Brady is a washed up bum going down the path of Farve where people think he can still make a difference when in reality he is just living on his reputation.

If only teams stopped giving the Pats everyone could see what I clearly saw the beginning of the season.

I fully expect the Texans to look just like they did last year in Oakland. Confused and apathetic. Or just pathetic.

I can out pessimist you all day, son. All I have to do is say "JaMarcus" and it's squashed, man. Bam! Over!

It's too bad Terdell Sands is gone. I would love to see him covering Andre Johnson.

yea and last year we made Jbust look like an all pro.
We made Garrard look great and his terrible receiving corp look outstanding.

Brady has looked off and he still puts up more points than Ben. Pretty disgusting if you think about it.

Look who snuck back into the NFL thread everyone! Where did you go after the PITT game last week, Brandnew?

I was at a Beatles in Mono listening party. When I left for the party the Steelers had just scored that awesome TD in the 3rd quarter.

If you're accusing me of being a Diablos, I take offense to that.

Like I said, he has regressed and Tom Cable is actually using him more. The only shot the Raiders have is if Cable's leash is released and he is allowed to run more.

Yep, that's it. Of course it's not the fact that he's been recovering from a injury. When Carlson Palmer tore his ACL, he came back to 100% instantly, right?

He's still jumpy in the pocket, and it's going to take some time for him to get comfortable again. He's definitely not playing wonderfully right now, but it's too early to spout such asinine bullshit. A mediocre Tom Brady can still beat most teams (sup Falcons.) The Jets beat us by basically blitzing the whole time, which was a good strategy given Brady's inability to make plays while scrambling.

If it's December and he's still playing like this, then maybe I could say his days of complete domination are over. But ffs, it's week 3.

i'm so angry at yahoo right now. I went to bad last night, after the game, up by a score of 134.52 to 134.50. I wake up today and I LOST... 135.5 to 134.52. Such bullshit. (on a sidenote, typing out these scores I feel like I'm typing out Codec frequencies for metal gear solid :lol... otacon?!)

So I'm looking at the stats and Yahoos stupid shitty scoring system went and gave Thomas Davis an extra tackle than what NFL.com is giving him. Who the fuck does Yahoo think they are? They're not the arbiters of football stats. Maybe the fucking LEAGUE should be who they take their cues from, possibly, hm? Such massive bullshit. I'm enraged. ENRAGEDDDDDDDD

and the chick that was gonna get me into sams club for free just bailed, so now i gotta go like forever without a massive pack of frozen pizzas. such bullshit.

in short, my happiness over the Lions victory is short lived.

Also I want to slap everyone that's a Lions fan that is still happy about the win. It's a fucking victory, guys, and it didn't happen after New Years Day so it really doesn't matter a whole lot. Stupid Lions fans need to put things into perspective- you shouldn't be so happy after just one win. Let's string a few of them together and then we can feel accomplished!

not just him though, it's embarrassing how often you see a cowboy on offense stick out their legs.

Not here in Nashville, no. And I'm still new here so any chance I get to meet people and listen to some tunes I usually take advantage of that.
