i liked T4 :(

but even if i didn't like it, i'd hate to see the series end like that. i hope something gets worked out
According to Wikipedia, they started to develop a sequel to TS (there's supposed to be a trilogy) in December of 2008 after the previews got positive buzz.

Can't wait to see Up's legs. I hope the word of mouh is insane and it rolls along making fantastic numbers all summer.

Dec 2008 was before the movie got bad reviews, a bad opening weekend and a huge drop off after that.

Aka a lot changed since then. ;)

Tracking for Up had me worried, I can't say enough how happy I am that it did so well.

It actually gives me some faith in the average american movie goer that two great movies like trek and up have done so well while rather mediocre blockbusters like wolverine and terminator had no legs at all.

Really glad to see UP defy expectations and do so well. It deserves every penny and more.
DEFY expectations? It's a fucking PIXAR movie, you mean to tell me people out there were betting against it? :lol

It was tracking pretty badly, mid-40's for the opening. Industry expectations had it pegged to open lower than Wall-E.

Sad to see T4 do poorly in America. It was good. Hopefully overseas is good.

Hugely happy to see Star Trek, movie of the year so far, do so amazingly well.

(Keep in mind I still need to see Up.)

I'm amazed Drag Me to Hell was reviewed so well. The trailers made it look like it was just another generic horror movie.

the evil dead trilogy movie trailers probably didn't them any favors and look how that ended up

So what's the prediction for the final tally on Star Trak? I think it'll finish around $260-$275 million. Gonna be tough to hit $300 million I would think since its already getting pushed to the back of the theater and it'll probably disappear from the big houses when the next wave hits.

NYT April 5th 2009 said:
Richard Greenfield of Pali Research downgraded Disney shares to sell last month, citing a poor outlook for “Up” as a reason. “We doubt younger boys will be that excited by the main character,” he wrote, adding a complaint about the lack of a female lead.

Mr. Greenfield is alone in his vociferousness, but not in his opinion.

“People seem to be concerned about this one,” said Chris Marangi, who follows Disney at Gabelli & Company. Doug Creutz of Cowen and Company said qualms ran deeper than whether “Up” will be a hit — he thinks it will — but rather whether Pixar can deliver the kind of megahit it once did.

“The worries keep coming despite Pixar’s track record, because each film it delivers seems to be less commercial than the last,” Mr. Creutz said.

but hey, who trust Wall Street analysts?

If we can't trust Wall Street with our investment, we clearly cannot trust Wall Street with movie sales projection :lol

I blame Obama.

Quality is on the rise all over the place since he came to office, including people's tastes it seems.

Except for Richard Greenfield of Pali Research.

Stop playing the demographics, you dopes.

If you build it[quality], they will come.

I'd say $240 tops.

Going to go and contribute to the up numbers later this evening when the kids should be out of the theater. Then again, I'll probably be in there when the teens and the cellphones are in there. Wonder which is the worse viewing experience.

While I don't expect this to be the norm. I saw it opening night at 7:20 with a decent amount of kids, some very young, and during the tender moments there wasn't peep from anyone. Had more problems overall with adults talking, which is surprising me less and less.

Kids are actually surprisingly good in most cases. It's almost always teens/adults I want to smack. They really should not allow people to bring a 5 month old baby into theaters. During Coraline it was the 16 year old girls to my left that kept commenting on the 3D effects out loud along with the baby that screamed for 50% of the movie. There were plenty of little kids of the appropriate age that were well behaved despite it being a showing after 9pm. Which also adds, what kind of parent brings their baby to a movie that late? No wonder the child screamed through half of it. It probably wanted to go to sleep.

oo look at dem purdy legs on Star Trek.

I TOLD you guys..
What did you TELL us guys? After the opening, some people on here were spouting $300m plus while I suggested $250m was probably the ceiling (or close to it). It was evident it would pass $200m though after the first week, no one needed telling.

I saw UP with a crowd full of kids and they were surprising well behaved and enjoyed the film. A baby cried in a scene that was pretty loud and made the crowd jump but the baby stopped crying soon after.
The scene where Ellie pops up to Carl and screams at him.

Looks like Drag Me To Hell deserves my money. I'll try to check it out sometime this week.

I think a lot of people claimed it was going to drop big despite its first week because it was a nerd/fanboy driven franchise destined to drop after the initial rush. Though after the second w/e, anyone still claiming that is just spouting sour grapes.

I thought Salvation was a great action flick. The characters were good, and it had the best action sequences of 09 by far. I have no idea why this film is bombing. I think T3 left a bad taste in people's mouths. Im also surprised drag me to hell is so well reviewed, the trailers dont make it look like anything more than some generic horror flick, now i kinda wanna see it along with Up which i will be watching tomorrow.
