FOUNDATION 9 ENTERTAINMENT HITS XBOX LIVE(r) ARCADE MILESTONE WITH BOMBERMAN LIVE

Game Marks Company's 20th Release for the Platform

NEWPORT BEACH, CA - August 28, 2007 - Foundation 9 Entertainment, the largest independent developer in North America, announced today that it has now released an industry-leading 20 titles for Xbox LIVE(r) Arcade, more than any other developer. The company's 20th release was the recent critical success, Bomberman Live, which was developed by F9E's Backbone Vancouver studio, as the lead in conjunction with Hudson Soft, and published by Hudson Entertainment.

"Being chosen by Hudson to work on the first Bomberman game made entirely in North America has been a real treat and an honor for us," said Joe Bonar, studio head of Backbone Vancouver. "Partnering with them to come up with an up-to-date design and execution and then to enjoy such an overwhelmingly positive reaction has been a huge boost for our studio."

Featuring up to 4-person local and 8-person online multiplayer action, Bomberman Live was designed specifically for Xbox LIVE(r), while maintaining the classic hallmarks of the award-winning series, including hilarious characters and fun level designs, loads of exciting and entertaining power-ups and fast-paced action. Since launching on July 18, the game has been one of the best-performing Xbox LIVE(r) titles and has received a slew of critical praise. 1UP.com said the game was "the perfect Xbox LIVE title," while IGN stated, "The game is a ton of fun, very dynamic in terms of gameplay, and more than worth the asking price..." Overall, the game has earned an average review score of 85% according to metacritic.com.

"We're delighted with how well Bomberman Live is performing," said John Greiner, President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. "We are very pleased with the hard work that Backbone Vancouver put into making this game a hit. Our partnership has been very rewarding and is definitely a win-win situation."

Bomberman Live is available for download on Xbox LIVE(r) Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points. F9E's other titles for the platform include a wide array of updated classic titles from Konami, SEGA(r) and Midway, with many more titles are currently in development.

By the way, this mlestone is already outdated as Puzzle Fighter and Streets of Rage 2 were also doen by Backbone. (THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!)

Hey, I hear Streets of Rage 2 is coming to XBLA.

Do we know when it will be released?

Is it only an emulated game ala Sonic, or does it have extra features?

There's a whole discussion in the SOR2 thread. It has online co-op, which is somewhat of an extra feature.

I held off on Bomberman in fear of online glitches, how'd that turn out?

You're asking how the online play is? In my experience, pretty spotty. It's news to me if it's been cleaned up. Still, it's a fun multiplayer game.

Prolly worth it, but after Catan and Worms, I don't feel like dealing with random online glitches for a while.

Nobody has an extra Frogger code to trade? I got a Uno and a Robotron code for one of my Bankshot codes but i kinda wanna play Frogger.

Nobody wants Bankshot Billiards 2?

I'd love Robotron, but I don't have anything to trade unfortunately.

Where do you get these codes from anyway?

Hold on let me look for it in my inbox.

Edit: Crap I'm sorry I seemed to have given it away :(

Join Terry and Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi and 12 of the toughest titans in one of the biggest matches of the millennium. So, I tried the shaving trick. My results weren't what I was expecting though. It was easier to perform some moves in street fighter, but Pac-Man is still impossible to play with it. It's anyone's guess where pac-man will move when you press a direction. "Down" magically turns into left or right or both real quick. By that time, you're fucked.

:(

"More expensive than most downloadable arcade classics"

800 points is more expensive? Street Fighter II Turbo was 800 points and that was 5+ years older then this game.

That review is pretty bad. Hey, look who it is.

Just got the Xbox Live September newsletter and Puzzle Quest was listed:

So guess that's one of the September XBLA games. EDIT: oh yeah, Sonic 2 is listed in there as well. So thats two.

Awesome, can't wait for Puzzle Quest. Shame the achievements are basically beat the game and get 200 pts. Would've liked to see harder achievements, as the game has a ton of replay value.

Does anyone know if the Puzzle Quest coming to XBLA is the exact same game that was released on DS/PSP? Has it been changed or gimped at all?

But having Hexic 2, Puzzle Fighter and Puzzle Quest all at once? Not even forgetting Word Puzzle, Tetris Splash and Poker Smash expected within the year, they might want to spread them out a bit.

Since SEGA seems to want to go for a "2 games a month" on XBLA, should we expect Sonic 2 and Happy Tree Friends this month?

Well, playing around a bit with those newsletter links yielded the finding of a couple new Xbox.com splash pages.

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

I just got Gauntlet and its great, but WTF at the black mages, this game is fucking rediculous. I cant get passed level 11 with co-op on live...

:lol I didn't even notice.

The comment just confuses me. How many fully featured 400 point games are on XBLA right now? There isn't even a single puzzle game on XBLA that's 400 points, not counting card games and backgammon.

I was just reading the review thinking "wtf is this crap?" He basically knocks the game down for having the old character sprites. Yes, the sprites suck but it's not like it's freaking Pocket Fighter, they're non-gameplay ffs and the rest of the product is great. So then of course I had to look and see who it was.

Reminder: Sale is now LIVE. Just downloaded Zuma for 400 points. I'm glad I held off on purchasing this

Thought I would post it here too in case anyone missed it. Several games on XBLA (Small Arms, Zuma, Gauntlet, and Dig Dug) are half price for only 48 hours, if you want them buy it ASAP.

Is Dig Dug worth 200?
I only have 300 points :( 100 more and would have gotten Small Arms

YES!

In my opinion, all the Namco classics are worth their original 400 point asking price. Very nice presentation, sort of a "difinitive version" of the games, if you will. And no Digital Eclipse bullshit.

I can't quite comment on the Xevious achievements, but the achievements in the other Namco XBLA games are incredibly easy, so that's another plus. :D

Speaking of DigDug, any word on how to get the "Dig" achievement? I dug up every last bit of dirt that's possible to dig, but it didn't give me the achievement. Is there a trick to it?
