I just got an xbox flash email for live marketplace.

Puzzle quest is on it with a price of 1200 pts.

As far as I can tell, its the only item not released yet in the whole email. Tomorrow maybe?

Please, PLEASE let Puzzle Quest finally come out tomorrow! Next week is NO GOOD!

Thats... an odd story. Why wouldn't they release it for the bare minimum price they could charge?
I've wondered the same thing many times. I guess it goes against the devs' beliefs and they feel very strongly about it?

I've read the description of the game several times and I still have no idea what you're supposed to do.

No word if that Heavenly Star skin mentioned in there is the same one that was taken down last Feburary...
And a Holiday Pack is coming, whatever that means...

Well, it's not entirely uncommon for devs to feel the add-on materials should be an added bonus. See the whole Epic and Gears maps deal. And if you want to be capitalistic about it and ignore the altruistic aspect, I'm sure they believe that more added content will provide more sales of the full game. Perceived value and all that.

You roll a cube around a map divided into squares, each square holding a Pac-Man-like pellet. Collect pellets while rolling around the board; own your side of the board by collecting enough pellets and you can hop over to the opponents side and go for his base and score a point. The "moods" they keep hyping are just simple power-ups. Edit: Or maybe not. You pick a mood before starting a stage. I don't remember. I have alzheimers. What were we talking about?

It's something like that. I didn't exactly play it extensively. Cute and fairly fun, but should be 400pts.

And as Lumines Live showed, if people perceive the add-on to be overpriced, it can have a negative effect on the reputation of the company as well as sales of the product.

But even with all the negative Lumines backlash, its one of the top XBLA games on GAF (automated sales thread).
Yeah, but Lumines is famous and a great game. I think a more fitting example would be Crystal Quest. At first, you check the marketplace section and see all of that added content and think that there's real value to find there, then you glance to the right and see nothing but cost, cost, cost alongside that long list of added items and you think "fuck that shit, I'm not paying a total of $40 for an XBLA game!" and don't even buy the base product.

Yeah did it sell badly? People always seem to assume that it did but I thought seeing somewhere that something like half the original purchasers bought the extra content.

I've bought all the Lumines content, but I love Lumines and several of the packs were on sale for $1.50 or something for a while.

Hopefully all that's out next week are a couple of crappy 400pt arcade games. :lol

Oddly enough the publishers are kinda running low on those at the moment. Midway is spent, Namco Bandai is spent, Konami is spent, Sega has two currently lined up as does Disney Interactive, the one with all of the 400 pt classic ammo is Atari, whom I think has at least four more line up for the service. Also, I totally called Puzzle Quest being 1200 points, still the cheapest version though.

Now time for a deal bulletin, in conjunction with the Toys R' Us sale that is going on right now, friend of the thread XBLArace.com wherein when one buys a 1600 and 4000 MS Points cards. It is estimated that the purchase of 8000 will run you about 85$ which translates to 15% in the way of savings.

So there is only Geon tomorrow, or were not sure Geon is coming out or its Geon and maybe something else?

Geon is confirmed, there might be a TGS shocker, there might not be one.

I bought Geon. As someone else put it, it's best described as PvP Pacman. Haul ass through 32 different mazes collecting emotes to fill your cube to score one of five needed goals to win. Your opponent (bot/XBox Live/Splitscreen) is playing at the same time and you both use various power ups to screw the other guy. The powerups do any number of things, from creating a pit for your opponent to allowing you to strike him, which causes a loss of emotes. Playing as different emotions strengthens these various power-ups. In addition it has time attack and eight unlockable minigames.

Playing the demo doesn't give you much of an idea as the devs set the difficulty to 1 out of five. At higher difficulties it is VERY hard to beat the computer opponent. I've enjoyed it so far.

So did anybody actually buy Geon?
I did, but I buy every XBLA game anyway. I kinda like it. Most of the game modes are boring, but time attack and the mini-games are really fun, except that the opponents in those modes are just annoying and not in any way a fun challenge. There's no fun to be found in being a few seconds away from the gold medal, only to suddenly be 'bashed' by the opponent three squares from the goal.

Another week another bit of Soltrio DLC.

Dash Text: [ESRB: E (Everyone)] 10 games including Spider 2 suit and Plait.

LakeEarth said:
Damn, are all 8 paks 150? Cause that'd make 800 + 150x8, that'd be 2000 points on just Solitaire :lol

Yes and does anyone have any idea what these packs are?

The net has nothing apart from names, where are the reviews?

8 Packs so far!!! CRAZYNESS! :lol

Apparently there's a new montage video on XBLM. I'm Xboxless right now, has anyone got it uploaded?
I'm assuming it's the video from Press Briefing 6, in which case there's maybe 10 seconds combined of new footage (lots of footage from other games). I'm pretty sure I saw Ikuraga, EEEE, Exit (looked somehow smoother than the PSP version), another v-shmup with anime characters, and what kinda looked like a 3D version of Side Arms, but the angle of the video was weird. Short answer is that you aren't missing anything, although the video also has a montage of regular 360 games, and that shows a lot of stuff coming out.

Now someone tell how and who approved GEON? I mean, what gap does this fill in the XBLA roster? The boring game gap? Even the bad XBLA games like Mad Tracks or Street Trace are still interesting, just broken/messy. This is just dull.

Your guess is as good as mine.

I splurged and finally bought Marble Blast Ultra and Mutant Storm with that TRU BOGO 50% deal.

They are both everything I ever hoped they'd be.
You win for owning two amazing games but you also fail hard for buying them now and not last year!
