I strongly recommends to all Xbox live arcade fans Commander: Attack of the Genos.

Great Gameplay, fun, and it's a very long title, even compared to regular DVD games.

If you like games like Starcraft or Command & Conquer, buy this!

Well, it's turn based so it's not quite in the same vein, but a great little product none the less.

Well, seeing as I was possibly the only person on the planet who didn't buy TMNT yet, I went ahead and changed that. Pretty badass game, hadn't played it before. co-op with 4 people online is kinda hectic though, I can hardly make out my own turtle at times. I figure it'd be more fun to play with gaffers so if anyone feels like it, let me know. I'm trying to get to the end on co-op, but I lose too many lives on some of the bosses. When I play with a random partner over live me or the other guy usually kick the bucket at the skateboard part :(
There's this 'up down method' in which you're supposed to stick to bosses while moving vertically, but the later bosses still manage to get me. Trying to get better though.

I'm just wondering when the next wave of good games will come again. We had a fairly good first 1 and a half months in 2008.

By my reckoning, that should start resuming in April. March here seems designed to burn-off some of the lesser titles that crop up from time to time, it would be nice if they were never created, but that isn't the case, so getting the shit out of the stream to make way for more of the excellence is fine by me.

Of course the awesome has other ways to manifest.

Puzzle Quest getting XBLA expansion, fans asked to name it

Puzzle Quest was among our favorite titles released last year over Xbox Live Arcade, with the unlikely mix of casual puzzling and role-playing edging its way into several of our staff's top picks for 2007. Now publisher D3 has announced that the game will soon be getting what it calls a "tremendous amount" of new content by way of an upcoming downloadable expansion. There's just one problem -- it needs a name.

The add-on, which promises a new villain in Antharg, the Lord of Plague, as well as new spells, items, and quests on top of four new hero professions (Bard, Rogue, Ranger and Warlock), is currently being dubbed " Puzzle Quest: 1.5," but that name is hardly appropriate. To this end, D3 is calling for players to submit name suggestions on the official Puzzle Quest website starting today at noon through Friday, March 21. Once a name has been decided, the expansion will be made available this spring over Xbox Live. We're already brainstorming our ideas -- might we suggest Puzzle Quest: The Addictioning?

No wonder I could not find a damned thing, there is nothing new this week.

With 14 Xbox LIVE Arcade games clocking in with a Metacritic score of 80 or higher and seven of those games available only on Xbox LIVE Arcade, the platform has established itself as the go-to source for quality pick-up-and-play gaming. More than 120 games are currently available on Xbox LIVE Arcade, with new content added on Wednesdays. Specific information about each new title will be available on http://www.xbox.com in the coming weeks, but here is an early look at a few games coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade in the near future:

For beginners, “Shotest Shogi” on Xbox LIVE Arcade also offers an advanced tutorial that guides and tests players as they progress through the game.
* “TiQal” (Slapdash Games). An addictive new puzzler, “TiQal” takes players on an epic journey to save an ancient Mayan village. Players demolish enemy block walls by matching squares of the same color and building them up to unleash massive combo points and mind-blowing power-ups. Partner with a friend over local or LIVE* co-op play to rescue the village, while enjoying sumptuous graphics, pulse-pounding sound effects and an awe-inspiring musical score.
* “Wits & Wagers” (Hidden Path Entertainment LLC). Party and trivia fun! Even if trivia isn’t your thing, the first trivia and party game to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade is one in which players can win by making educated guesses, playing the odds or just knowing the interests of other players, whether they are local or online. * “Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3” (Capcom Entertainment Inc.). Xbox LIVE Arcade’s “Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3” revives one of the most popular arcade shooters with an all-new adventure. I'll never understand these no-game weeks. Incredibly annoying.

Yea, I don't get it either, okay, we get it, last 3 months were awesome, Spring will be awesome, March has sucked balls.

No games?!

Outrage.

Just because Sony thinks it's okay to leave us dry... this is utterly abhorrent, especially with Ikaruga waiting in the wings :(

Terrible. A price drop on year old xbox arcade games shouldn't replace a release of a new game. What's with all these live arcade game announcements and then these week long gaps where there is nothing coming out?

I think this is related to the console shortage this month, they don't want to release arcade titles on a month where they aren't moving a lot of new consoles, because new customers will miss the advertising blitz for each release.

This is what I don't understand.
We get a hundred and two announcements/trailers/PR statements about new upcoming XBLA games.

I would think with all that's in the pipeline we'd be seeing AT LEAST two games every week. But instead everything has to be staggered or delayed or simply held back cause hey we don't want this awesome game to come out this week as it will take away sales from the shitty game we released last week. Argh!

EDIT: But hey as Shard mentioned it's not all bad. We are getting pricedrops on a couple of sweet games.

Well, Microsoft has pretty much written off all of March, lest an Ikaruga gets released next week, not exactly sure of the reasons, but them again the last three releases were Bliss Island, Brain Challenge and Rocketmen: Axis of Evil and honestly I would take a price drop of two good games over dealing with a new steamling pile of shit.

Speaking of which, Brain Challenge Gamespot Review

The Good

* Variety of minigames
* Interesting multiplayer premise makes it more of a game than a chore
* Compensation for color-blind players.

The Bad

*
*

* Cold trainers could provide more constructive criticism
* Clarity of directions and options are sometimes suspect
* Clunky online matchmaking only adds disappointment
* More of a self-hurt application than a game.

5.5, Mediocre

There are like 200 images, I'm putting them up now.

I contacted the CEO of War World developer Third Wave Games; Morten Brodersen about War World and asking if it was still coming and he replied with this:

Hi Steve

Don’t worry. War World is coming to XBLA.

It is up to Microsoft when it will be released. They sometimes release games right away and sometimes after quite a few months. It is all about how a specific game fit within the overall launch strategy. It is not something we the developer decides.

We are busy working on our next title.

Cheers

Morten

So its still coming \o/

On the flip side, I recently discovered some new information about The Incredible Machine XBLA and it was not good.

http://www.xblarcade.com/node/1788

Any further word on The Incredible Machine coming to XBLA?
sgtrahanlsu

First post.....I was just wondering about The Incredible Machine....I remember seeing a while back that it would be coming to XBLA, but never saw a tentative release date, much less even a confirmation or denial since then.

Does anyone know if and when this title is coming to XBLA?

Thanks in advance.

Tomacco

Last I heard was behind the scene mumblings that they were having trouble figuring out how the controls were going to work on a console. I'll see if I can dig up anything more.

Any updates on that Tomacco?

While it certainly sucks that there is no new game this week, I'm glad AH is coming down in price and Doom is still a cool game.

Besides, if you are a multi-console owner like me, you are so used to being shafted with no new games weeks at this point (PSN) that you don't even feel it anymore.

This is something that we do not want to get used to again.

DAMMMMMITTTT I thought you were talking about Alien Hominid

:lol I am NEVER gonna get the 10 continuous wins in Brain Challenge.
Dropped games galore and finally when I start getting somewhere, the 360 crashes after a victory. What a shoddy piece of shit this is... still it's addictive as hell.

TiQal looks pretty sweet. Tetris meets Lumines???

I really like the way XBLA allows for casual games and smaller game projects to be viable development paths.

No, it is not time for him to return, this was just an off week, if you happened to own Assault Heros and/or Doom.

Ikaruga has been on the dev kits for months.

Indeed, though the thing is that Partnernet is not a good indicator of when a game is actually coming out on the service.
