Haha, that may be a great positive for you, but the number of XBLA games Japan has missed out on is significant :(

This is true, places like Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea are often on the ass-end of releases, still, it is rare for a game to miss Australia, even rarer for European nations, and never at all for North America, it is kind of the reverse of what the PSN, VC and Wiiware go through. There have been rumblings from time to time of Japan Only or Japan First content (Yie Ar Kung Fu, E4, Ikaruga) but it has never happened yet.

TMNT and Boom Boom didn't come out in Australia until much later too, but they're all due to licensing issues and translation, nothing more.

It's been said that some of these games have been delayed because Microsoft wanted them to be released in more areas, and was willing to pay more. I think that was the deal with Schizoid and Go Go Break Steady.

Castlevania is an entirely different kettle of fish, since it emulated the Japanese ROM and has a completely different name on Marketplace.

If its defo coming to atleast Japan might as well get an official thread up as its still coming out Shard?

Really looking forward to this game and hearing what GAF makes of it.

Whats the reason for all the bumps too, too many games, dev pressure, people failing cert?

I'm still also confused on what the ideal release policy is, at a pinch I would say what Bionic Commando did but without the failing cert and missing release tho the Geo Wars2, announce, show release could also work but then these are bug games that will get the hype.

I outright refuse to make a thread at this point, too many question around the release date right now, I want to know if is coming out in the West or not before I create it.

fair do's the capcom community guys have been really good about clarifying facts on this game you would think they would have just cleared it up.

Indeed, they are very quiet on this issue, maybe they are waiting for the right day or something, still, to make an official thread right now, there are going to be a lot of pissed off and/or confused GAFfers, I can wait to deal with that.

Probably the same reason why N+ didn't have online play.

N+ did have online play, but I guess that's your point.

Believe it or not, there is a hell of a lot more going on in the average game of Geometry Wars than N+

I respect Bizarre's decision to provide no multiplayer rather than borked multiplayer.

Ok Rlan, who do you know on the Break Steady team? And did they ever announce that game you were hot for before E3?

No. I did play it beforehand (I have access to partnetnet) but I have no ties to anyone. I just like it.

I'M READY FOR YOU XBLA!

I figured i'd bring it back up what with all the games coming, i've bought many from them in the least 6 months or so :D

I bought one back in March, got the card, then ordered another one the same day before I spent all my points :lol

Oh XBLA, how I love thee.

I asked in the N+ thread, but this might be the better place to ask. Current best place for deals on USA point cards? I want to get a nice stockpile of points to use on some old games and ones upcoming since I just got a 360

Since Microsoft finally fixed the DRM issue I just bought 4200 points from Tesco.

Currently I have these games:

Geometry Wars
Pacman
Pacman CE
Rez HD
Street Fighter 2
Alien Hominid
Texas Hold 'Em
Bomberman Live
Lumines Live
Contra
Heavy Weapon
Every Extend Extra Extreme
Hexic
Worms

My favourites are Geo Wars, Pacman CE, Lumines Live and Rez HD.

I'm tempted to pick up Ikaruga as I would like another challenging game like Geo Wars for the arcade. I don't want to go crazy and buy loads of games at the moment because I want Geo Wars 2, Castle Crashers and a few others down the line.

Is there any other arcade titles worth picking up that would fall into the same category as my favorite games? I'm not so keen on the ports to be honest and I find that most of the popular online games are empty.

I don't see many other games that interest me at the moment apart from Ikaruga, so I was just wondering if anyone thinks anything else is worth checking out.

You might like Space Giraffe. It's worth trying the demo at least, but you have to put in a good bit of effort at understanding how the game mechanics work. Only 400 points too!

Gaffers have good opinions, but still: Try all the demos! They're usually pretty good indicators.

Ah how I miss XBLA. At school my computer setup is right next to my console, so I can use it. At home all I have is a wireless network and I don't want to pay $100 for the official microsoft wireless adapter. Does anyone know if the Pelican brand one is a worthy substitute? I'm skeptical.

When did I miss the annoucement of Ticket to Ride DLC date? Any info about its price? I am really waiting to play both of them.
Supposedly it's 600 points which is pretty steep.

you know that you can make an USA silver account and add some MS points via pre-paid cards (buy them on ebay by e-mail) and then start shopping in the USA marketplace. The arcade games you bought on that USA account will be available for all accounts in your console, even your official japanese gold one.

it is a workaround, I know, but at least there is a way out. If you do not have an USA address anymore just use one from your family or even the one from Microsoft for the ultimate revenge :-)

What is up with the current trend of expensive expansions? First Puzzle Quest, now Ticket to Ride? I believe 400 pts (half the price of the game) is a good ammount for the value of another board. Now waiting for the price of Golf Tee It Up downloads....

Purchased Aces Of The Galaxy and the N+ mission pack today. Played through around 50 levels of the single player ones in the N+ mission pack, and they sure are quite easy. Gonna play through the 50 coop levels tomorrow, and hopefully some of them can match the difficult level of the normal coop levels.

Also played through Aces Of The Galaxy, although on easy. And even though i didn't have any problems finishing the game on easy, it still was kinda challenging. Although i have to add i kinda suck at these games, but there was so damn much going on screen i really didn't know what the heck i was doing half the time in the later missions. I did enjoy it though, and gonna play it through tomorrow with a friend.

Flunkie said:
I'm asking this probably already knowing the answer (no), but the N+ mission packs don't include extra achievements, do they?

I didn't see any and the game still said 115/200, so that would be a no.
Unless i totally missed something.

Out of curiosity, is there any XBLA game that has had DLC that added new achievements?

Alphabetically:
Band of Bugs
Go! Go! Break Steady
GripShift
Joust
Pinball FX
Puzzle Quest
Rocketmen
Small Arms
Ticket to Ride

I couldn't find the Puzzle Quest expansion, neither in new releases neither in all games. It is not out yet. (good thing for me since I do not have points or time for it this week)

There are 2 multiplayer maps for Marathon out today however (busy week) but they are pretty expensive (400 pts each).

Why are the map packs 400 points when everything pre-release said 250 points?

Yea, so, it was just announced in Famitsu News that Bionic Commando Rearmed, apparently Germany is holding up the realease of the game and GRIN wants to do a Worldwide release.

Dammit! Wasn't it scheduled to release next week? July 30?

Moving on, I have some new information on Peggle XBLA, culled from a 1up.com Interview about Peggle DS.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168990

So in the last 18 months, my mission hasn't really changed. It's to make PopCap a force to be reckoned with in the console and handheld space and to get our key games and franchises onto these different platforms. So you've seen some work out of my group with XBLA -- Feeding Frenzy 2 is about to come out on XBLA, Peggle coming out this fall, Heavy Weapon came out about a year ago. And you've seen some stuff from us in terms of PS2 and Xbox 360 retail product, and these DS products are the next chapters. Moving forward, you'll see more DS, you're going to see us get on the Wii, you're going to see us continue to embrace XBLA, we're looking at PS3 -- the sky's the limit.

http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/07/25/banjo-redeemed/

MTV Multiplayer Blog recently went hands-on with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and at the end of said article a sliver of information regarding the XBLA version of Banjo 1 was relayed.

One bonus bit of info for long-time “Banjo” fans. I asked Microsoft’s Ken Lobb, a longtime liaison to the folks at Rare from back in the Nintendo days, if the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade release of the original “Banjo Kazooie” would link up to the new game to enable a new form of Stop N Swap. He said there will be a connection of some sort and left me with this comment: “You will finally be able to get your ice key.”

In summation, all of those extra bits in the original Banjo-Kazooie are at long last going to be unlocked, I have been waiting 10 long years for my ice key.

I thought that was announced a while ago. Now if only they'd confirm Tooie.

I know Stop N Swap was announced and that it would unlock things in Nuts and Bolts, this is more solidifying that the reverse being true as well, which brings up a question, whjere does one use the Ice Key anyway?
