You're completely correct, but I don't like paying for something that I know I'll lose eventually...

It's $5. And you'll not lose it as long as you have your US account (or am I missing something about the DRM?).

I liked Catan, and was about ready to pull the trigger, but Culdcept was out a month later at the time, so I didn't get it.

Now Culdcept makes me fall asleep playing it.

I liked the Catan demo, but is there a a good group of people online that play it regularly?

blasphemy... play someone good and you wont fall asleep

damn, that was what I was feeling. I think I'll just buy the actual board game then. I greatly prefer playing board game type games locally. Carcassonne allows this, and I love that game. Sadly that game doesn't let you controller pass. There was a couple of games where people played with rockband instruments

I couldn't get into Culdcept either. It just took soo long to play one match, it kind of killed it for me.
im telling you matches can be short if you know what you're doing, and considering online you can set a time limit.

im wordering if this game is worth it, can you play local multi? is it 4 player and if it is can you use the same controller. I have 650 points to spend so i was wondering.
I think Worms is the only XBLA game that supports hot seat.

Most awesome tip even if I'm not going to use! Very appreciated and saved in my memory bank of tricks. ;)

Yeah, I've heard of a number of work arounds and even have a friend who does them. But I just can't bring myself to do it. I have a gamertag, it's associated with Australia, and I don't want to split games and gamertags across countries. I don't care how safe it is or whatever, I just can't take the chance that my gamertag could somehow possibly have something go wrong with it.

The good news is, I heard that the XNA games are coming to Aus in mid December. If / when it does, I'm all over Weapon of Choice.

Off the top of my head Rez HD, Lumines Live!, Braid, Geometry Wars 2, Ikaruga, Marble Blast Ultra, Assault Heroes, Puzzle Quest, Alien Hominid, Carcasonne.

Game is a clusterfuck of visuals completely screwing you over. Can never know where the hell stuff is coming from ect...

(I still bought it)

If that were true, then achievements like this:

Finish level 100, having started on level 1.

Would be impossible. And yet, it's not.

Denki Working On XBLA Project

http://www.gamerbytes.com/2008/11/denki_working_on_xbla_project.php

Scottish Developers Denki have revealed that they are working on an Xbox Live Arcade title, and as well as a retail Wii title.

Denki has been working on DIRECTV titles for the past few years, but previously worked on two cute and niche puzzlers for the Gameboy Advance - Denki Blocks, a standard puzzle game, and Go! Go! Beckham, a great puzzle platformer where you play as super-deformed David Beckham in a fantasy land collecting coins and eggs. You heard me. It plays like a more puzzle based Marko's Magic Football.

Hopefully we'll hear more soon.

Is it just banjo this week on the arcade?

It looks that way I found nothing to show that anything else is getting released this week; in fact, this whole month looks damn sketchy.

I bet most publishers don't want to release now, what with the crush of top retail games flooding the market.

Plus, a lot of the 360s being bought this month are for Christmas gifts. Much better to release when these new 360s are up and running.

I'm just getting around to trying all the community games now.

Weapon of choice was amazing! I'd pull the trigger on the 400 points but I have so many other trials to try first

Probably not, but I can still name a few titles that look to be released soon, Emergency Hospital, Things on Wheels, Flock and Meteos Wars, outside chances for Wings of War, Lode Runner and R-Type Dimesnions and Rocket Riot.

Speaking of board games, seems like there is another one on its way.

Tide of Iron, Wings of War Coming to XBLA, PlayStation Network

Fantasy Flight Games is working together with videogame developer Big Rooster to create electronic versions of its board and card games, starting with Wings of War: Famous Aces, scheduled for release in Q4 2008, and Tide of Iron, scheduled for Q2 2009. As Christian Petersen, FFG founder and CEO, said in a press release accompanying the announcement, “We worked with Big Rooster to find games that have different themes and mechanics. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to bring them to the wide audience of Xbox Live and the Sony PlayStation Network.”

They need to get back on schedule. I hate when they do this. These were November's releases:

V8 Arcade - Week 1
Nothing - Week 2
Keflings - Week 3
SFIITHDR - Week 4

They need to get back to the 2 releases per week. I hate when they stretch things out. I'm sure there are plenty of completed games waiting for release and these idiots keep holding them back.

Btw, there will be another XBLA sale this month for all regions. I hope that Pacman CE and Switchball get a price drop.

They have to hurry up if they want to show something about Wings of War before its release.

edit : Week 3 = Keflings + Community Games
Week 4 = Banjo delayed

Wings of War is a board game??? Count on me them! I need something to cure my TtR addiction.

Aside from that, only R-Type catches my attention this year. Too many games to play.

Can you remix the same game multiple ways? After Namco Bandai created Pac-Man: Championship Edition for XBLA, its frenetic take on Galaga Legions debuted.

However, the team tells Gamasutra that the design focus on the simplicity of Xbox Live Arcade title Galaga Legions' core mechanics means many promising ideas were left unexplored -- enough, perhaps, for a new take on the game.

In particular, the team notes that "...there are a lot of Gaplus [aka Galaga 3] fans on the core team", leading to a remake that is more inspired by the 'special stages' of the original Galaga than its Space Invaders-inspired original gameplay.

And with the lessons learned from Pac-Man: CE's less complicated design process, producer Nobutaka Nakajima and director Tadashi Iguchi say they'd like to have another go at Galaga, to incorporate some of the ideas that didn't make it through in the process of creating Legions.

"Because there are so many different ways of taking the Galaga franchise and many different aspects that could be created into the core fundamentals of the game, we do want to look at Galaga again," Nakajima says, speaking as part of an in-depth Gamasutra feature.

Nakajima and Iguchi say a focus on Pac-Man: CE's fundamental core mechanics is what makes it successful, and they aimed to bring that same simplified approach to Galaga: Legions -- "that's where the fun lies, in the simplicity," Nakajima says. But, he adds, says there are still so many choices left to explore.

"We could create a different sort of Galaga with a different spin or twist on the game mechanics and the core fundamental aspect of the game, and possibly in the future bring a different sort of Galaga to the players," he says.

Does anyone remember the XBLA game that looked kind of like MechAssault? I believe it was being published by Ubisoft.

I swear i remember seeing pics earlier this year....am I dreaming?

But can you share levels online that isn't gimped like N+?

Well, I hope so... I always felt that was kind of convenient for N+ developers to blame MS.

It's called War World and was released two months ago or so. The demo for the game is one of the worst demos ever:

It takes longer to download the demo than to play it. :lol

Even if not, he says there will be 220 levels in the game across 8 modes to begin with, then there will be DLC level packs released down the line. So it's not like it'll be lacking in content.

Considering I buy every single game, I hope they stay with 1 game a week. Next week is Banjo so hopefully I don't have to buy that and I can find a pre-order code.

I picked up N+ finally, I was afraid it would control well because I was used to the DS control but it's been responding very well so far. The free level pack made the purchase easier too
