Interpol

The game will be released this Winter for 800 points according to IGN.

I played a game like this on my iphone. I just kept tapping randomly on the screen and found all the objects. $10 for this?

Yeah, my bad. Tomorrow, I meant. Still, I'm hoping for little to no releases the next couple of weeks. I know most others would stone me if I said that to them in person but I don't want to get too far behind and I'm flat broke until January, so... Here's hoping!

When does Peggle come out? Has there been any word?

Actually yes, Popcap is targeting the game for early next year, the hope is for January, but with XBLA games, they can get delayed quite easily.

Found this on the EDGE mag, Atari has partnered with the REZ HD dev to offer a music game on the Wii, as well as a tri-pack for the 360, including REZ HD, Every Extend Extra, and Lumines, all on one disc!

Source: http://www.edge-online.com/news/atari-partners-with-rez-hd-dev

Q Entertainment has teamed with Atari for a new music game tentatively titled QJ, Atari president Phil Harrison stated in an Edge Keynote on Tuesday.

QJ is "a music performance action game which will be initially on the Wii but we are looking at other platforms including online," Harrison explained.

No release date has been revealed.

Atari will also be publishing a three-game Q Entertainment pack that includes the Xbox Live Arcade titles Rez HD, Every Extra Extend Extreme and Lumines Live. The pack will be available on one disc "for a very aggressive price," said Harrison.

Fuck. Yes.

PS - If someone thinks this deserves its own thread please make one. (Since I can't)

Yea, that was covered along with all of the other Atari stuff, the new Q/Miz game is for the Wii, the Xbox 260 is getting an XBLA game comp disc.

I'm stoked. I wanted to get Lumines & Every Extend but not at their full price. :lol

...what's a 260? :D

Or you could stop buying every single XBLA game?

You really buy all of the lousy ones? Why?

Not to worry on that front since Super Street Fighter and Banjo-Kazooie were the last big huge XBLA titles for the year, the next big wave isn't coming till next year.

You know, I'm not sure. I started buying them at the beginning and eventually got all of them before they started coming out every week... then, I couldn't stop myself. I just have to buy them. I know it's dumb but I figure I might as well hit 200 before I quit. But yeah, I have them all.

Considering Xmas Eve and New Year's Eve both fall on Wednesdays, it would be pretty crappy if there's no surprises in store for those.

Marble Blast receives Marble Fu expansion

For a moderately hefty 200 Microsoft points, you can download the new "Marble Fu" Marble Blast Ultra downloadable content. The new package-o-content includes five fresh multiplayer maps and brings one new "Map Pack Dominator" achievement worth 20 additional Gamerscore.

We're not sure how much value there is in a 200 Microsoft points expansion seeing the game now retails for 400 points, but we're sure hardcore Marble Blasters will download no questions asked.

Do we know if there's any Lumines DLC included on the disc?

Imagining all the money you've spent on games you likely never play is a little scary. It doesn't concern you at all?

That makes no sense...
There are currently 177 XBLA games, why not stop buying the lousy games now, there are still enough good games that you would hit 200 relatively soon, and you wouldn't waste any more money on junk you'll never play like Shrek-n-Roll.

Genki Reveal Quarrel For Xbox Live Arcade

http://www.square-go.com/feature/354

Dundee based developers Denki have been making games for years. Odds are you have played one of their titles. Odds are, you didn’t know it.

After making some critically acclaimed waves back in 2000 with their first title (the aptly named Denki Blocks), the developers proceeded to slip under the radar.

Denki got themselves into the world of digital TV game design, making a veritable crapload (the vast majority) of titles for Sky’s tellyboxes, as well as similar services across the world.

With resident gaming guru Gary Penn heading up design at the studio (he also worked on some small titles… like GTA and Crackdown), and their unique outlook on ‘digital toys’, Denki have set out to make quite a different game.

The outlook these guys use is so important and pervasive in their planning that they will not work on a title unless they feel it is ‘Denki’ enough. As such, the management set up their internal Dragons Denki [arf] scheme. This lets anyone in the company suggest a game, and if it gets through a BBC inspired business show stylee thrashing, then they get to work on it.

So, after years of honing their art of simple yet fun games, Denki are stepping back in to the more ‘usual’ world of consumer games design. And so they gave Square-Go first hands on their first original game in over seven years, coming out of the Den - an Xbox Live Arcade title, by the name of Quarrel.

Scrabble x Risk x Countdown = Quarrel

As obtuse as this might be, Quarrel is exactly that, an amalgamation of boardgames. Having found out just how popular a well crafted word game can be (Word Crunch has been a best seller since it first appeared), Denki have taken this idea, melded it with some oldskool games and created something which is surprisingly fun and addictive, which anyone can easily get to grips with.

Essentially it’s a game of territory control (that’s the Risk(y) business), and battles are fought via a round of Countdown, with the letters having Scrabble like scores, and so whoever makes the highest scoring word – wins! Simple. Throw in some tactics - the number of letters you can use depends on how many ‘child soldiers’ (or Quarrellers, as is the official line) you have at your disposal. Which in turn actually makes for a compelling game – who wouldn’t want to best an opponent with superior locution and tact. But what’s great is that Quarrel is simple enough for anyone, of any age, to get to grips with.

The fact that the game will be a multiplayer affair is the real point of intrigue here. As Quarrel is probably most similar to the boardgames it is inspired by, but works in a way that they could not, or – it avoids a slew of hissy-fits that would come if it were tried in the traditional format.

While the gameplay is interesting, and really quite different to anything else on Live! right now, there were a couple of issues. Aside from being handed a sorely bruised side for the play through, the dictionary used was not amazing (although, to be fair the game is a year away, so this will likely be fixed by release) and the letter values seemed odd (certainly not the official Scrabble set, at the very least).

Visually Quarrel is somewhat childish right now, but also with some charm – the game has a definite Peanuts style to it, with the characters cackling away when they win or lose, and while the game could and should appeal to a mature audience, this could be somewhat off putting for them as it stands.

However it evolves, visually or mechanically, Quarrel is an interesting title – far removed from everything else on Live! there is a real need for something like this; something that appeals to the wider audience and can easily be played by a whole family.

Quarrel is arguably the next stage of boardgame evolution. Rather than a direct port of a traditional game to a virtual medium (like Monopoly games on a computer – where the maniacal fun of hoarding money is lost), it blends games and works things in a way only available to videogames. And as such, it shows a lot of promise.

Most of all, what is intriguing here is that this is only the first title to be announced from their freewheeling Dragon Denki scenario. If things keep coming out, quite as ‘Denki’ who knows what they will come up with next…?

The update to the German rating board today has brought us a little gift - EXIT 2 will be making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade.

Last year EXIT went to Xbox Live Arcade while EXIT 2 was making its debut on the PSP, but only in Europe and Japan - it never came to North America. Now it'll finally get its American debut. Whether or not it will try its weird level unlocking system like the first is unknown.

If you couldn't get enough of EXIT and never picked up a European PSP copy, this will be your chance, along with Arkanoid Live and Space Invaders Extreme, to enjoy more Taito goodness.

LOL, you guys act like it's up for discussion! I'm buying them because I want to, not because it's a smart idea. My main goal is to just have every single XBLA game released on the 360. I know the money involved and I shrug it off. Another reason is that it's a good babysitter for my young cousins when they come over. No changing of discs (so no scratches) and they just have to be able to navigate the menu and select a game they find interesting. Small concellation.

ANYWAYS...

New Xbox.com Splash Page: Meteos Wars, with that popping up combined with the fresh achievement list, I think it is safe to say that this game is coming out next week.
I wonder how well Meteos will translate over. I can't imagine it playing that well without the touch screen...

I'll pry be buying the Marble Blast pack too.

I was hoping Interpol was DLC in RB2 :(

Any update on Metal Slug 7?

What about the Castle Crashers patch? I'd like to be able to play online again.

Nothing on Metal Slug 7 since TGS, I would imagine that we are not going to hear abotu that game for awhile.

The Behemoth has stated that the patch is almost done, I think they cent it to cert this week.

so yeah, I have a bone to pick with XBLA.. there are NO decent RPG's.. and really.. no RPG's at all.. my favorite XBLA games are Carcasonne, Puzzle Quest, etc.. you know.. games with depth where you can level up and collect items ? They're called RPG's, and there are too few on XBLA.

Buy Penny Arcade Episode 1 & 2 and enjoy a great RPG.

Update on the release of Zombie Wranglers, I think.
http://www.frozencodebase.com/news.php

Frozen Codebase has announced today that they have found a zombie living in their basement. Described to be about 6'1", lanky and wearing a skinny red tie, the Zombie was found wedged between several cartons of refrigerator magnets die-cut into the shapes of popular vegetables. Also found nearby were several Hot Water Music albums, a medium-sized jar of Bed Head brand hair gel, and a wide variety of white leather belts, many apparently tear-streaked. When asked about the fate of the Zombie, and it's potential for release into the world, Ben Geisler choose not to answer the question directly, instead simultaneously playing a sequence of random notes on a Blackberry, Palm Pilot and Magnus Chord Organ while pretending to have a cell phone conversation with someone "in a very well-known time zone."
