No 4p though.

Shard, tell them to get on it already with putting out Peggle. Thanks.

Peggle should be dropping in the nest few weeks actually, the game has to release soon in order to be a part of the Popcap Games Vol. 2 Collection.

At any rate, presenting the full range of the Sega Vintage Collection Vol. 2.

XBLA is on fire right now. Voot, Worms, Sam & Max announced. Quake Arena Arcade is still alive. Dishwasher coming within weeks. The Japanese games announced at TGS to look forward to. The service is pretty set for awhile I'd say.

Aren´t all of those present in the recent disk compilation? It looks a little bit reduntant to release them each by each on XBLA unless they are priced right. They are too expensive at 400 pts. At 200 pts I would buy plenty of them.

And why all old releases (specially arcade ports like Ms. Pac-man and all Namco ports) are still 400 pts? They should make a 50% off sale of them.

No, Gunstar Heroes was not in the collection, not sure about Shinobi here.

Anyone have any questions for Telltale about their work on the upcoming Wallace & Gromit adventure game?

I will be asking them my questions in a few hours from now, and am looking to add a few if possible

How much cooperation from Aardman Studios do they have? Does Aardman dictate specifics, do they just come up with a general story idea, or does Telltale basically have free reign?

I'd probably buy Phantasy Star 2 XBLA just for the achievements. *shrug*
The SUGC really should have thrown players a bone for beating some of the harder games in that collection.

Gunstar Heroes would be kind of pointless though unless the co-op netcode is decent. Not to mention the leaderboards would be kind of stupid since with enough patience you could max out the score. The achievements would have to be really good(Like beating the hardest setting without continuing or surviving that one part on stage 6 for like 30 minutes).

Shinobi arcade really should have the ability to save and watch replays. Otherwise it should be a good time on the leaderboards provided the port isn't too fucked up.

And Namco is already selling nearly all of their XBLA titles on a disc. You can grab that for easily half or even a 1/3 of the cost of buying them off Xboxlive(plus you get a bunch of bonus games that may or may not interest you).

The Namco collection is a pack of individually XBLA games (a la Arcade Unplugged, 200 gamerscore each game) or a compilation (a la Sonic Collection, 1000 gamerscore total)?

Individual - So that comes out to 1800 points. IIRC the only missing title is Soul Calibur. You get 25 or so other games from prior Namco Museum releases(no achievements/leaderboards for them though)

Gamerscore for each Live Arcade game, you put the disc in and go to your games on the dashboard, and they appear there as they would if you had downloaded them. I think there's 10 XBLA games, so there's 2000 points achievable in total.

There's a bunch of non-XBLA games on the disc too, though, and those have no gamerpoints. :(

Hummm.... I may get it since I need Pac-man CE and Galaga Legions. But I already have a bunch of Namco XLBA titles (Dig Dug, Rally-X and Mr. Driller).

Watchmen: The End is Nigh Priced at $20
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3173020

Movie tie-in game sees a steep downloadable price for its polish.
By Steve Watts, 02/27/2009
Watchmen: The End is Nigh

The price for Watchmen: The End is Nigh has finally hit, and it's certainly on the upper end of downloadable game costs. ******* reports that the game is set to hit for 1600 MS Points ($20 USD), or for $19.99 on the PlayStation Network and Steam.

The price may not be surprising for those following the game closely. If one thing has been mentioned by almost everyone, it's the high production values. "[The graphics] look less like a typical downloadable game, and more like something you'd spot in a retail title," said Thierry Nguyen in our recent hands-on preview. "The lighting, rain effects, and all that look pretty damn snazzy, but what's probably the coolest graphical feature is seeing Rorschach's inkblot shift around in real-time." For those who love the graphic novel, movie, or graphically amazing downloadable action enough to shell out a Jackson, the game is due out on March 4.

Game Connection Confirms 220 Exhibitors For GDC 2009

http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22509

Networking-oriented business event Game Connection is reporting 220 exhibitors confirmed for its Game Developers Conference appearance next month.

Game Connection 2009, taking place March 24 to 26 in San Francisco, is described on its official site as "a unique speed dating event for business-focused game makers."

Though 40 percent of exhibiting companies hail from North America, it will host companies from more than 30 nations, with 15 percent comprised of companies headquartered in Asian countries.

The organizers also pitch the event as "a gold mine for first looks at upcoming projects of all genres and for all platforms." Exactly half of the confirmed developers, 110, develop for PC, with the next most-common platform being Wii with 75. Interestingly, 35 companies are said to focus on the downloadable platforms Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and WiiWare.

Also present will be tools and services companies, including outsourcers, middleware providers, motion capture firms, and others.

A full exhibitor list as well as registration information is available on the official Game Connection site.

Canada doesn't have a 1600 point card, so I doubt there are going to be many sales for Watchmen up here.

Well, I should point out that this game is going to be on the PSN and PC as well, so there are other purchasing options, just not purchasing prices; stupid parity.

Haeleos said:
Me?? What does it matter? You still have to buy points denominations on marketplace.
Yeah, but then when you need new points you have to visit the store and buy some cards. That's a pain in the ass.

It's one thing when it's XBL Gold or there's deals running on point cards, but other than that I don't think there's any real reason not to just buy them at home.

Some people don't like their CC info out there. Not me, I've put in something like 5 CCs (3 of which are paid off an inactive, so don't worry about me GAF) but I can see the complaint. That and if you buy them through certain sites they send you the code immediately but then you are still putting in CC info, I guess...

I buy cards because it gives me a cap o spending. I know I have x amount of points (even though it's mostly mental - I could buy more anytime, but would have to go to the store). It keeps me from buying everything that even slightly interests me on XBLA or PSN, which is probably what would happen if I used my credit card.

Seeing Sam & Max announced leaves me scratching my head as to why the Penny Arcade game was an RPG. It would have made much more sense as an adventure romp.

Who the hell buys cards when you have a CC?
I buy cards because I can find deals on them. There's never a "sale" on points directly from the Marketplace. I don't believe I've paid full price for points in 2-3 years.

10/06 - Best Buy had a deal where you got a $20 card for $5 with the purchase of any 360 title. Pre-orders counted as a purchase of a title, so I pre-ordered like 4 copies of GOW and got $80 worth of points for $40.

06/07 - Circuit City had B1G1 on 360 accessories. Points cards count as accessories. Spent about $200 or so for $400 worth of points.

8/08 or so - Target had 1600 pt cards for $15. Combining that with a "$5 off $25 on toys" allowed you to get $40 of points for $25 (without hassle). I ended up spending like $125 for $160 worth of points.

So I ask you. Who the hell uses their CC to buy points direct?

I buy cards due to the fact it's a bitch to get your cc removed on xbox live. When they allow me to remove my cc information without calling in then we will talk about using my cc on xbl.

Yeah. I love penny arcade but HATE turn based combat.

I loved the graphics but the gameplay was shit imo...not to mention it was 20 bucks lol

That's so lame. You get everything on that collection and tons more in Sonic's Genesis Collection. But you don't get Gunstar! I hope they offer it as an individual game.

I shall be putting up video reviews of Outrun and Dishwasher probably next week provided the devs give the go-ahead. Both superb games.

Anything else up there you wanna tell us about?

Oh, and how does OutRun look in HD? I heard it was a quick and dirty port and a little rough around the edges (shitty looking HUD etc) :(

Um, the newest games outside of these Sega games have been Peggle, Gel: Set and Match, Space Invaders Extreme, Texas Cheat Em and Cellfactor.

Outrun is looking good. I didn't notice any rough edges, but then again I was wasn't looking for them. I'll check it out for you today and report back later.

space invaders huh? tell me everything!

Outrun 2 looks amazing, but I'd say it's only faults is some of the textures look crappy or out of place. Like the bridge in the second stage of E route, but I think this is just like the Arcade or Xbox versions. Everything else is gorgeous.

Thanks. We have two demos, a fantasy version and a sci-fi version. We're shopping both around to see which one sticks.
