Too bad IMO the Bubble Bobble series peaked with Symphony/Memories.

I'd pay money for a quick & dirty port of either game(with all the usual bonuses like online coop and etc)

Yes, yes that would be nice, On-line co-op Bubble Bobble would be wondrous. Also, to Mr. Garbanzo, now that I know you read us, it appears that I have offended you. Honestly I am not quite sure since Babelfish has its quirks. At any rate, if you take offense at being called part of the underground or me calling you infamous for your leaking of XBLA game footage, well, it is the truth. The fact of the matter is the first rule of Partnernet is you do not talk about Partnernet unless you have permission to do so. I have no objection over it, it is my inclination to gather the latest news and events about the XBLA and you have in the past provided me with that, nothing more, nothing less.

Okay, looking for a recommendation. Got a 4200 point card, and am getting for definate Outrun, R-Type and Dishwasher. That leaves 1400 points for whatever.

I have Bomberman, Castle Crashers, Geo Wars 2, Ikaruga, Lumines, Mega Man, N+, Omega Five, Pac-Man, POP, REZ, Worms and some others.

I don't have any XNA games, so would be open to those as well. Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

I honestly am fucking stunned that Outrun is < 1200pts.

It's because it only features the Outrun 2SP courses right? It doesn't have the original Outrun maps that were included in Coast to Coast. Still, I was almost willing to pay 1200 just to have an HD version of Outrun 2SP, at 800 it's a no brainer.

Not sure about the nitty gritty, but I agree, its an insta- @ 800pts.

Sounds like you might be a Peggle man (assuming you don't already have it on PC).

A very long and details analysis of XBLA sales during March:

I'm having an issue where I cannot delete a demo. It's Banjo & Kazooie. I've tried it from the game menu and the memory section of the system menu. Anyone have any idea what gives?

What is the cause of the TMNT bump?

I saw it like number 6 on most popular today on live.

Maybe other devs will see this opportunity to give us more gems like that at 5 dollars. Konami and Capcom are just sitting on piles of money in the form of 15 year old roms.

Thx Rlan, the sales chart will be very interesting these coming weeks to see if Amazon (and its sales) has an impact on the XBLA.

Read the whole article and it's a very good read. I'm really hoping that Watchmen and Hasbro bomb. It seems I have a little something to be happy about (Watchmen) and a little something to be worried about (Hasbro.) Those are the main offenders of price gouging on XBLA to date and they came out in the same month.

Good call on that, I bet we'll see all 4 of the games that are discounted receive a bump back in to the top 10.

Hey Rlan, have you got any idea whether Australians are able to use the codes from the Amazon XBLA sales?

I'm feeling nice. Give me your Gamertag and I'll send you a code for the discounted Amazon game of your choice and we can see. Seriously.

Oh man... Flock...

Flock was not the game Capcom should have started the $15 pricepoint with. Bionic Commando, now that's a $15 game right there. But not Flock.

Street Fighter II HD Remix was 15 USD.

I would contend that Galatricx isn't overpriced when that damn game is at least 20 USD on every platform and it is also a current gen retail release, but it did do lukewarm business that is true.

Flock really didn't control well on a console. It was way too easy, and too frustrating, for some sheep to not follow along just because you weren't using a mouse. Some adjustment should have really been made since you don't want to frustrate a player that early.

See, I thought the game controlled like ass on the PC demo, and felt the XBLA demo did a much better job.

I planned to buy the game but then went against it because I just do not have TIME to play it. I'll probably go back to it sometime later though.

It's overpriced because it's a sequel that is more expensive than the much better original game. Easily my most disappointed buy in a long time.

Darwinia+ Hands-On
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/strategy/darwinia/news.html?sid=6207632&mode=previews
We got an exclusive first play of Darwinia+, the Xbox Live Arcade version of the cult-hit PC strategy game.

Although Introversion Software still proclaims to be the "last of the bedroom coders," Microsoft is about to propel the studio into the mainstream. The publisher has signed a deal to bring its PC hits Darwinia and Multiwinia to Xbox Live Arcade, under a new package called Darwinia+. Xbox Live Arcade has been lacking real-time strategy games, and Introversion reckons that Microsoft is preparing a Braid-level push for the game once it launches in September. We were lucky enough to be invited to Introversion's offices, not five minutes away from those of GameSpot UK, to play the game firsthand.

The story of Darwinia+'s route to the Xbox 360 takes place over a number of years. When Introversion approached Microsoft to bring the game to Live Arcade, it was faced with the same request as most developers: "Can we have a multiplayer mode?" The team went away and came up with Multiwinia, an entirely new game that took the core concept of Darwinia and let four players compete against each other. The result was released on the PC last year, and the two games are being formed as part of a package called Darwinia +.

Flash Player 9 is required to watch this video.

The good news is that both Darwinia and Multiwinia will be coming to Xbox Live pretty much intact. There are some minor tweaks to the interface, mainly because of the control pad, and the Assault game mode has been lost in Multiwinia because of hardware constraints. Everything else has either been ported intact or improved slightly, such as the graphical interface, which has benefitted from work by an employee who worked on Gears of War 2 at Microsoft.

The two games meld many genres, but they are ostensibly a mix of real-time strategy and god games, wrapped in an alluring wire-frame polygonal universe. You control an army of tiny Darwinians in both games. The left analogue stick moves the cursor around, and you can click individual Darwinian units with the "A" button and then send them to a spot on the map. However, it's more efficient to press "X" to create officer units who will then guide other units in a general direction. The camera automatically tracks to follow, the right analogue stick turns the camera around, and the trigger buttons zoom in and out.

The team admits that the Xbox 360 controller isn't perfect for its game, but the control system that they've implemented worked well enough for us. Jumping into Multiwinia, we were pleased with how quickly we were ordering our troops and navigating the camera. The game also runs really well on the Xbox 360, specifically the explosions and the water, which are more detailed and reflective than before. The game has a very distinct visual style, clearly inspired by movies from the '80s such as Tron and WarGames, and thanks to this classic visual design, it's a game that has aged well.

The new front menu on Darwinia+ presents the two games as equal halves of a spinning world, with Darwinia all light and peaceful, and Multiwinia a scorched, war-torn terrain. In Darwinia, you must protect Dr. Sepulveda's computer from a virus, using the peaceful Darwinians to stave off the attack. It turns out that the virus affected the Darwinians and caused them to split into tribes for Multiwinia, with up to four players joining to control various factions. On the Xbox 360, every mode apart from Assault has been ported, including Domination, King of the Hill, and Capture the Statue. The team confirmed that the original statues, which included the Companion Cube from Valve's Portal, will also make it.

Although Introversion has clearly faced some stresses in bringing the pack to the Xbox 360, the company acknowledges that most of Microsoft's suggestions have been for the good of the game. It's easy to see the importance of Darwinia+ for both companies; Microsoft wants an RTS showcase for the console's online service, whereas Introversion wants to see its biggest games played by a larger audience. The good news is that it's coming together incredibly well at this stage, which is encouraging, given that the release isn't even scheduled until September. That said, expect the package to hit the upper end of the online price bracket--at least 1,200 Microsoft Points, and maybe even 1,600. Make sure you check out our exclusive interview with the team above, and come back to see more of Darwinia+ in the run-up to its release.

Sadly, that is not the case:

Banjo-Tooie Given XBLA Release Date
N64 classic coming April 29, but the price is still unconfirmed.
By Steve Watts, 04/15/2009
Banjo-Tooie The News: Rare has confirmed that Banjo-Tooie will come to Xbox Live Arcade on April 29. New Gamerpics will accompany the release for 80 MS Points (also known as "a dollar"), but no price is mentioned for the game itself. Rare promises more details on the Stop N Swop feature coming soon.

Our Take: If it's anything like the first Banjo port, it will be $15 for Tooie. Not an outrageous price, but a bit steep as part of the apparent requirements to see the fan-made creation contest winners. It's too bad people who worked hard on vehicles have a potential $20 barrier for people to see their magnum opus.

I'm still really pissed off that Gamestop pulled a total bait and switch on me by promising a download key for Banjo XBLA if I preordered Nuts and Bolts from them. They never sent me one, and I mailed them several times, each time they insisted it said on the webpage "while quantities last". Which it never did. And even if it did, I preordered it from their site an hour after they announced the deal. And I distinctly remember seeing the "Banjo XBLA code" in my order when I submitted, because I wanted to make sure I got one.

Goddamn now I'm angry again.

The Raskulls Unleashed #1

“Top Five Reasons Why Everyone Loves Raskulls”

5. Bones are easy to clean and mould-resistant.

4. Every Raskull has such a distinct outfit – kind of like cosplayers. You know it’s weird, yet you can’t look away.

3. The King is a handsome, fearless leader you should be proud to worship. Would King, the 1994 State Bee-keeping Champion, lend his name to a shoddy product?

2. No, he wouldn’t.

1. They tease and please you in ways only a Raskull can.

Each Raskull is somewhat of an attention seeker, so it’s no surprise that they are quick to give interviews demonstrating their Raskully … leanings. King led the way with his Kingingly funny character profile a while back, so now the rest of the gang is getting in on the idea. It’s difficult to fit in with regular fleshy society, so these interviews and profiles are the best way to go. The rest of the gang will be announcing their bone-laden presence in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for all the Raskulls characters grabbing their time in the spotlight!

About Raskulls

Raskulls is an upcoming puzzle platformer for Xbox Live Arcade. It’s an entirely original IP from Australian developer Halfbrick, and features a lengthy single-player adventure campaign along with rich local and online multiplayer modes. With racing, combat and puzzle elements, not to mention the tongue-in-cheek humor found rampant throughout the entire game, it’s a platformer unlike anything seen before. To be released in Q3 2009.

What's the story behind the xbox360achievements.org site? How do they find these achievements, is it legit or what?

Well, X3a is a site that hosts Achievement lists, the have contributes find these lists, probably pulled from Partnernet, and this is about as legit as it gets. This is the third independent verification of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, they are making arcade sticks for this game, for god sakes.

Hmm..came in here to see what's new since I just got a 4000 point card (and already have 800 points on top of that).

So far, I own: N+, Braid, and Castle Crashers.

I'm definitely planning to get GeoWars 2 (can't believe I haven't bought this yet @_@), Prince of Persia DLC (heard it's pretty good), Banjo Kazooie and then Banjo Tooie (never played these ever...but GAF hype says to get it), so that leaves me with 800 points left.

I'm probably gonna jump on OutRun. Never played that either but you guys are saying good things about it, and it looks fun with the drifting and everything - reminds me of Burnout Paradise :) It's also a plus that it has online..but I don't like the countdown thing like when you go to an arcade >.<

Hmm... out of the games that you've mentioned as having and being interested in I would recommend Dead Samurai before OutRun. Unless you are jonesing for a racer and want to flesh out your catalog. But given what you own (and if you like what you own) I'd go with Dead Samurai.

The Raskulls Unleashed PR.
WTF?

Hey an achievement list that doesn't include "win XX number of matches in a row". If I didn't know any better I'd swear that was fake.

Still isn't enough for me to consider playing ranked matches in MvC2. People complain about seeing Ken all the time in the SFs they'd shit a doghouse once they discover 99% of the ranked matches will consist of Magneto/Storm/Sentinel with the possible Cable/Captain Commando/some other guy with an extremely good assist thrown in.

A guy like me who uses Felicia/Tron Bonne/BB Hood wouldn't stand a chance.

I have a request for this topic. Is it possible that the next XBLA release is put into the first post? At the moment it would have Lode Runner for example, maybe with some info and the Xbox.com link. And maybe all other known release dates?

This way we can always check dates whenever they are known.
