When the fuck did Tower Bloxx get announced?

I love the mobile game, but it's so damn simple. I dunno how they could make a 'full' XBLA game out of it.

Rare says time has passed for GoldenEye remake

http://www.videogamer.com/news/rare_says_time_has_passed_for_goldeneye_remake.html

An Xbox LIVE Arcade release for Rare's Nintendo 64 classic GoldenEye seemed, at one point, to be tantalisingly close, but legal problems meant the game sat in limbo.

Now, responding to a fan question about GoldenEye in the latest edition of Scribes, Rare has said the time for a jazzed-up port to XBLA is long gone.

"That was some time ago, my friend. Fate was against us that day. Destiny conspired to raise the hurdles even as we attempted to clear them, resulting in unpleasant groinal injury," said Rare. "I suspect we’re long past the stage where an agreement was on the cards, but you never know. Stranger things have happened… somewhere… probably."

anyone else dissapointed in Bubble Bobble Neo's Classic mode?

From the moment I fired the game up, I realised something was amiss. They changed almost everything :(

It plays way way to fast, and ofcourse that makes things much harder.
Bubbles behave differently, they drop to fast, and don't go as high as in the arcade orginal, making one early level very difficult.
E.g. the one you used to make just one bubble, jump on that, to make the ledge above, where 2 monsters start. Now you can't jump high enough because of this.

Many other small changes as well, making this effort as far away from Classic as you could get.

Well I'm back to MAME, and a VGA cable to my TV.

I just got a bunch of xbla points for my birthday. Need ideas of what games to buy.
If you have suggestion of your favorite 3 games or so that would be helpful.

Probably not for awhile, like a good 9 months down the line, and then it will probably be a XBL Deal of the Week.

mmmm can't wait that long. I wanted to get it the moment I finished the demo but my hdd is full and I'm waiting to get my 120GB in the mail. I'll buy it the night I finish transferring everything over from my original 20GB

I bought 'splosion man and still haven't even played the trial, been playing Batman and MvC2. At least I will get those 800 points back. :lol :lol

I bet you know already, but you can always re-download titles. Delete what you arent playing often right now, and go ahead and buy Shadow Complex now.

I was going to give it a trial but damn at that size no thanks, people may like having no cap but with shit get's out of hand like this... and I find shadow complex being nearly a gig too much as a 20gig user.

In terms of bang for the buck, you can't go wrong with
Poker Smash (hugely underrated puzzler)
Geometry Wars
N+

It's kinda weird that there are two dual stick shooters coming out this week. Who knows, I might even end up getting them both.

There's no solid date yet but I'm really rooting for Darwinia+. It could easily become XBLA's premiere online RTS game.

I finally did this, since I really don't want to upgrade my HDD and pay the absolutely ridiculous cost that MS is charging. It was nice having tons of games available, but I never played most of them. I freed up like three gigs.

eBay has a lot of 120GB HDs selling on the cheap. I doubt that they're official 1st party drives but they should function the same. I'm waiting for November since that's when the 250GB will be released. A DIY 250GB wouldn't cost any more to make than a 120GB.

It'll be great to have all my games installed to the HD, XBLA included.

I'm loving it right now, haven't played an RTS in ages, but dove in for $10. Fun and difficult.

The size is a barrier, but if they didn't have the FMV it wouldn't be a C&C game.

Summer 2009 Sizzling Hot for Games on Xbox LIVE

You may be feeling the fall breeze in the air, but Xbox LIVE is still smoking from one hot summer.

Beginning with the first “1 vs 100” trivia question on June 1, 2009 and continuing through the launch of revolutionary Summer of Arcade title “Shadow Complex” on August 19, 2009, Xbox LIVE has delivered brand new ways to access, play and share games on Xbox 360.

“It’s clear that we’ve had an incredibly successful summer, and the Xbox LIVE community loves the innovative gaming experiences we deliver” said Scott Austin, director of digitally distributed games on Xbox LIVE. “We are the leader in digitally distributed games, have the best partners in the industry and work closely with them to offer the best in downloadable content and entertainment.”

Xbox LIVE delivers a new genre of entertainment: “1 vs 100”

A pioneering achievement in interactive entertainment, “1 vs 100” was downloaded nearly three million times during the 13 week pilot season, making it one of the top 10 most downloaded pieces of gaming content on Xbox LIVE to date. In fact, on average, more than half a million unique contestants competed in “1 vs 100” every week. And, up to 114,000 people in North America and 81,000 people in the UK and Republic of Ireland competed simultaneously in “1 vs 100 Live” shows. Featuring a live host, real prizes and regularly-scheduled programming, “1 vs 100” is a brand new genre of entertainment on Xbox LIVE. Get excited to hear more about season two…

A record breaking summer for Xbox LIVE Arcade

Xbox LIVE Arcade continued its tradition of industry-leading downloadable games with the second annual Summer of Arcade. This year’s Summer of Arcade delivered a lineup of blockbuster titles that smashed nearly every record for the service, and even set a new monthly revenue record with an incredible 200% growth over last year’s program. In fact, of the top five highest opening week sales ever on Xbox LIVE Arcade, three were from this year’s Summer of Arcade, including “Shadow Complex, “Trials HD” and “Marvel vs. Capcom 2.”

What’s more, blockbuster breakouts “Shadow Complex” and “Trials HD” both eclipsed previous records for most downloaded single-player game in their opening weeks. Winner of more than 20 Editor's Choice and E3 Awards, “Shadow Complex” set a new standard for quality and depth in downloadable games, offering an immersive story and setting on par with full retail titles, at the value and convenience gamers have come to expect from Xbox LIVE Arcade. To top it all off, “Battlefield 1943” joined the leading ranks as one of the best selling Arcade games of the summer.

A brand new way to download with Games on Demand

Announced at E3 and launched just two short months later, Games on Demand on Xbox LIVE delivered a brand new way to access and download full Xbox 360 titles. Games on Demand provides convenient, 24 x 7 access to a growing online library of popular game titles. With more than 40 games in the global library, for the first time the community can browse and download a great selection of full Xbox 360 games from the comfort of their living room.

Get ready for “Joy Ride”

Xbox LIVE industry leadership doesn’t stop there. This holiday, “Joy Ride” will debut an innovative free-to-play business model on Xbox LIVE and deliver an exclusive revolutionary gaming experience to the Xbox LIVE community. “Joy Ride” puts players’ Avatars behind the wheel, offers rich customization options through micro-transactions to suit every personality, and is fun for people of all skill levels to jump in and share. Unlike any other gaming experience on Xbox 360, the world of “Joy Ride” will grow and change the more people play.

Xbox LIVE is the premier destination for blockbuster downloadable titles, value-priced entertainment, and inventive games that blur genre lines and provide all new ways to play.

I'm really hoping that Death Tank will be one of the XBLA deals of the week, but only because it would boost the community, even if the effect was only temporary. I personally don't mind the price but there's no point in buying it if there's no one playing.

Not really caring for any of the three so far. Zombie Apocalypse was a bit too simplistic, I just stood in a corner and killed all the zombies with the basic gun. Ion Assault looked nice but it was too slow paced for that type of game. Warriors was so lame I couldn't make it through the trial.
I'll probably give Zombie and Ion Assault another try later...

Wow, can't believe how much the Zombie game sucked. The crazy $1 zombie indie game was better, and I didn't really care much for that. It'd be hard to make a game more simplistic and boring.

Damn, Warriors was even worse! What the hell is with this nice looking, but shit playing games? Did the devs actually play them themselves? Come on, it's brawler basics that if I win a grapple with an armed enemy I get his weapon. And what's with the terrible stiff movement? Final Fight was better than this garbage.

The theme of these games today seems to be "They're as good as you make them." All of them can be played rather simplistically, but if you put your skills to use, you find the depth.

Warriors seems very basic (Go play Dungeon Fighter Online instead!), but going for combo multipliers and stuff keeps you in the action more, and trying to use the dash and jump attacks makes it somewhat more exciting. I'd say Gekido and Fighting Force where STILL better 3D brawlers, though. Streets of Fury, also, has a lot more personality than this game.

Zombie Apocalypse looks as exciting as it ever looked in videos. Shouldn't be any surprises here! Using the environmental hazards and the chainsaw kills in order to get multipliers moves you into the fray a lot more, and "standing in a corner and shooting" is discouraged by all this. Stage 3 seems to be the only one in the trial where things get REALLY interesting. The numbers start to get impressive, and camping spots starts to get harder, forcing you to play more dynamically. Since the game is full of unlockable modes, there's probably some that are more initially satisfying than what was demoed here.

Ion Assault does seem a bit slow, but it's charging shot style is fresh, it's really quite nice looking, and all the power-ups seem nice and useful. Nice presentation overall. The team who made it seems pretty small from the credits, seems like they did a pretty competent job, though. I actually like it more than I expected to.

All in all, they're not bad for 10 dollar games, but I think I'm still more hopeful for Nectaris (suppose to come out next week, right?) and Vandal Hearts (is there a set date for this yet?)...

Bought Zombie Apocalypse and having a blast with four others online. Starts out slow but then shit gets hardcore and new zombies and weapons are thrown in. Enjoying it alot.

Ion Assault, tried the demo and enjoyed it too, but I was to pumped to play ZA, but Im picking this up for sure.

Trying The Warriors in a bit.

Agreed, good old mindless fun in 4 player co-op! :D

They should have put the demo level at like level 12 or something where it starts getting a little more intense.

The Warriors was complete toss though.

I take it that The Warriors wasn't an upgraded port of the PS2 game. Because "worse than Fighting Force" is a pretty harsh assessment.

That would have been the logical thing to do. So of course, they did not.

Tecmo Moving Towards Downloadable Titles

http://www.gamingunion.net/news/tecmo-moving-towards-downloadable-titles--441.html

While Tecmo will be showing off their line-up of premium titles during this year's Tokyo Game Show, the North American division of Tecmo are looking to get into the downloadable space in the near future.

According to the official website for this year's Tokyo Game Show, Tecmo are looking to hook up with developers to work on new and existing projects which will be primarily focused towards Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

This could mean that Tecmo are looking to start producing some new byte-size IPs, or reinvigorate some older franchises.

Just played Pinball FX, and its pretty fun, i kind of want to buy it since its only 400MSP this week, but it sucks that the SF table is not included.
