The wait for Gyromancer is killing me. What is the usual release time for XBLA games?

Has there been any word on how long Gyromancer is?

Just from what I've noticed:

-No Multiplayer.
-You fight with packs of monsters, rather than raising your own specific character.
-Not a port, thus one has to wonder if it'll be as big and meaty as PQ.
-have beat PQ, Have not even played GyMr yet.

There are no turns from what I know. You make matches to clear colors, but idle turns and turns that don't make matches fill enemy ability bars until they're able to attack you.

I believe that's how it works. Square Enix was pretty adamant about the fact that battle has no turns.

Has there been any word on when Joy Ride (that free game they annouced at E3) is coming out?

Just randomly remembered it.

http://www.destructoid.com/worms-2-armageddon-gets-a-big-ol-update-155657.phtml

There's a problem with a lot of Xbox LIVE Arcade Games -- their online communities tend to die off before too long. Even the good ones can suffer from this, simply because there's so many competing XBLA games and people often will pick only a few multiplayer games, usually retail, and stick with them.

As noted on Team17's Facebook of all places, Worms 2: Armageddon received a major patch today. Hopefully there are people still actively playing it who will appreciate the work that's been done. Based on how specific some of the comments were to the list of fixes, I'd say their community is still kicking.

A ton of stuff is addressed in the update, many of it game-changing material. If you were ever going to do so, now would probably be ideal time to jump back into Worms 2 while everyone else is seeing what's up with patch.

Plus, the studio says DLC will be out next year. Someone must be playing this still, right?

Polar Panic Hands-on

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/104/1048517p1.html

November 20, 2009 - Ever play the classic SEGA arcade game Pengo? Players controlled a penguin through a series of ice block mazes, avoiding enemies and crushing them between the frozen slabs. A similar effort titled Polar Panic is on its way to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this winter. Here, players control a polar bear named Polar who is out to rescue his family from trappers. In each stage you'll need to eliminate all enemies (again by crushing them with ice blocks) and make it to the exit before time runs out.

Many of the blocks making up mazes can be destroyed or manipulated. Snow blocks can be broken down, ice blocks can be pushed (these are your primary weapons against the trappers), and dyno blocks can be detonated to take out everything in their vicinity. Ice blocks can also be pushed into holes in order to create a bridge you can stroll across.

If you manage to squash more than one trapper at a time you'll boost your score multiplier for massive points. Some stages include igloos, which are spawn points for the trappers. Sliding a block through the front door will knock the structure down, taking out any remaining enemies inside (again providing a score multiplier if more than one trapper was hiding). Even more bonus points can be earned by knocking over snowmen, freeing your family from cages, and breaking ice bear statues.

Story mode spans 50 levels as Polar searches for his loved ones from his arctic home to the offshore oil rig where the evil Mr. Big awaits. Puzzle mode includes another 50 levels with more of a focus on brain teasers than action. Here, you'll want to reach the exit in as few moves as possible. Then there is Survivor mode, which sends waves of trappers after Polar and up to three of his friends.

We're enjoying Polar Panic so far. It definitely owes a lot to Pengo, but it also has a few tricks of its own up its sleeve. It shouldn't be too long before it's thawed out for release.

Everybody should buy this because it looks fun and it could help convince EA to bring back Mutant League Football if it's successful.

Ok, here is a list of Bug Fixes that will be in the upcoming patch for Worms 2: Armageddon. The patch is currently in the testing phase, so we will let you know when we have more information regarding when this will be available.

• Fixed issue whereby user would lose all save data if the hard drive was moved to another console
• Fixed hard locking issues when generating landscapes bought in the shop
• Fixed issue where you could get a regular soft lock if a mine attracted to a magnet didn't come to rest
• Back flip input slowed down to stop incorrect jumps harming the player
• Air Strike was incorrectly hitting for 65 this has now been capped to 50 and damage spread has been correctly fixed
• Fixed a Leader board exploit awarding "billion" scores after disconnect exploit stopped
• Strict NAT users were unable to ready up in a lobby, now fixed
• Exploit fixed - Player can no longer use the ninja rope after deploying a weapon
• Fixed bug where first player was not selected randomly in online matches
• Fixed host migration issues in 3/4 player matches
• Forts and Rope Race matches can now be played as Private games
• Fixed an issue whereby fire punching the ceiling would result in the worm falling through the landscape
• Fixed bug which made crates in Forts matches only land on the right hand side
• Fire will now only burn the landscape between turns - this stops players losing their turn due to fire damage beyond their control
• Bunker Buster was hitting slightly to the right of the aiming reticule - this is now fixed
• Super weapon probability in crates reduced - Chance of Donkey removed from forts games
• Fixed an issue where you couldn't move the camera while your opponent had their weapon panel open
• Fixed an issue where sometimes worms were spawned in onto a mine at the start of a match
• Fixed an issue where sometimes the placing of Magnets would be out of sync between client and host
• Fixed occasional non functional magnet and magnets likelihood of flying around the screen erratically after being hit
• Fixed ability to place a girder anywhere on the landscape - the useable distance for the girder has now been reduced
• Dragon ball collision increased to stop it missing enemy worms at close range
• Fixed an issue where bringing up the Guide during online games caused slowdown
• Fixed an issue where strike weapons would appear in cavern landscape crates
• Landscape choice forced on host incorrectly after 10 seconds this now correctly waits for 30 seconds before forcing the decision
• Probability of vertical landscapes in Ranked matches was too high - this has been greatly reduced
• Fixed an issue where some players Avatars remained on screen obstructing play during online games
• Fixed an issue where some weapons/utilities SFX would loop at the start of every turn if the game was restarted during them being played. Most obvious example was the HHG.
• "Likes the Drink" achievement could be gained incorrectly by killing 8 worms in a single blast in the firing range
• Pressing jump while fire punching resulted in a "super" fire punch - this is now fixed
• Sheep now correctly travels down tunnels instead of bouncing on the entrances
• Fixed an issue where team names were not displaying on "Your turn" screen
• Missing particles added to Holy Hand Grenade
• Damage display font will no longer incorrectly scale larger on certain shots
• Tidied up the start of Online matches where Worms would be placed twice at the start of the game
• References to WOW 2 Leader boards (Maggie's Drawers & Valiant Failures) Removed
• AI teams are now using the correct speech banks in the campaign
• Spelling mistake - Incorrect weapon names in collected crates

I still need to get Worms Armageddon, I loved it on the DC but haven't got around to buying it yet.

I just wish they would speed up the online matches in Worms 2. It's so stop-start. Having to wait like 10 seconds after every single persons turn.

I don't remember it being that bad in Worms Armageddon on 56k.

After Burner Climax has recently appeared on the Australian Classification Operating Branch website, but like many games it shows up as Multiplatform. The Korean Game Rating Board however goes a little deeper, and reveals that the rating was applied for by the local Sony Computer Entertainment branch.

Worst. 2 unrelated games, emulated with a simple filter. No HD remake here.

Not a problem for me, I'd rather have 2 games released with an optional filter, for a cheap price, rather than have them get questionable budget redrawings that people are gonna whine about for months! ( I prefer sprites anywho...)

First time since R-type Dimensions to see games bundled together for download, though. It's an odd release, and it makes me wonder if they're testing the waters for bigger brawlers, or even other combo packs. I'd really love having more brawlers / beat 'em ups on the service...

Final Fight 2 and 3 were SNES only, I assume there are a few problems with their reproduction on XBLA. Don't know how honestly since they were able to reproduce Castlevania: SOTN on XBLA without any fuss from Sony. Bet all those "Licensed by Nintendo" messages are a complete bitch for all these companies now :lol

Throwing in Magic Sword might be Capcom trying to get away with a 1200MSP price point, or at least an 800MSP price compared to Sega's 400MSP.

And Capcom have done SOME sort of SNES emulation before with Super Ghouls & Ghosts featyring on PSOne and PS2 compilations, unless that was reprogrammed entirely?

Also, what's coming out this week? I've been out of the loop, and haven't heard of anything.

SOTN was released on the Saturn as well.
